Abstract

This study examines the influence of digital marketing, online reviews, and brand image on consumers' decision to stay at Adhiwangsa Apartment, Surabaya. A quantitative explanatory design was employed using purposive sampling, resulting in data from 79 respondents who had booked or stayed at the property through digital platforms. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that digital marketing does not have a significant direct effect on decision to stay, indicating that promotional activities alone are insufficient to influence consumers' choices for high-involvement accommodation services. In contrast, online reviews have a positive and significant effect, highlighting the dominant role of electronic word-of-mouth in reducing information uncertainty and strengthening consumer confidence. Brand image demonstrates a positive but statistically insignificant influence, suggesting that reputation alone cannot drive decision to stay without being supported by positive customer experiences and credible online information. The study extends the application of the Theory of Planned Behavior and Signaling Theory to the premium apartment context by demonstrating that digital credibility and social validation outweigh promotional communication in shaping consumer decisions. These findings provide practical implications for accommodation managers to prioritize digital reputation management, encourage authentic customer reviews, and deliver consistent service quality to enhance competitiveness in an increasingly digital hospitality environment.

Abstract

Tourism development has generated economic benefits while increasing environmental degradation, particularly in sensitive coastal ecosystems such as mangrove forests. Sustainable tourism therefore requires management approaches that integrate environmental conservation, community participation, and local cultural values. This study examined the implementation of sustainable tourism based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy at a Mangrove Ecotourism in Bali. A qualitative case study approach was employed using purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ecotourism managers, tour guides, fishermen, and visitors, supported by participant observation and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings showed that the three dimensions of Tri Hita Karana were embedded in ecotourism management practices. The Parahyangan dimension was reflected in religious rituals and spiritual activities supporting environmental conservation. The Pawongan dimension promoted community empowerment through employment, stakeholder collaboration, and environmental education. The Palemahan dimension emphasized mangrove conservation through waste management, visitor control, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity protection. The study demonstrated that Tri Hita Karana functioned as an operational governance framework that integrated spiritual, social, and ecological values to support sustainable mangrove ecotourism management.

Abstract

This study investigates the meaning-making process of 224 photographic representations in Ho Chi Minh City Travel Guidebook (English e-version) in relation to its tourism slogan Vibrant Ho Chi Minh. The research adopts a multimodal discourse analysis approach, integrating both qualitative and quantitative methods. The primary theoretical framework is adapted from Hunter’s (2008) typology of photographic representations, which was, in turn, developed from Kress and Van Leeuwen's (2006) Visual Grammar. The findings indicate that the vibrancy of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is significantly emphasized by these photographic representations, with its rich cultural aspects (51.79%) and modern infrastructure (20.98%) being prominently depicted together with its outstanding tourism products (21.87%). In other words, this vibrancy is constructed from both internal vibrancy (intangible values) and external vibrancy (tangible infrastructure and amenities). Furthermore, in the context of Vietnam’s robust tourism development and the globalizing trends within the industry, the study proposes recommendations aimed at enhancing the persuasive efficacy of the photographic representations in tourism texts promoting destinations in Vietnam.

Abstract

Concert attendance is no longer perceived merely as a form of entertainment but also as a type of event-based tourism influenced by tourists' travel motivations. This study aims to examine the effect of tourist motivation on visiting intention toward the Seventeen "Right Here" World Tour Jakarta 2025 concert. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 100 respondents who had attended the concert, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, the t-test, and the coefficient of determination using IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings reveal that tourist motivation has a positive and statistically significant effect on visiting intention. The higher the level of tourist motivation, the stronger the intention to attend the concert. Motivations driven by the desire for entertainment, social interaction, and emotional experiences were identified as the primary factors influencing visiting intention. These findings provide practical insights for concert organizers and tourism stakeholders in developing effective marketing strategies to enhance visitor interest and support the sustainable growth of event tourism.
