Abstract

The objective of the study is to explore the Marriott International Core Values through Critical Discourse Analysis. The data is taken from Marriott official website, and students’ interview. The data was then analyzed based on Fairclough’s three-dimensional model which covers text, discourse practice and social practice. The findings of the study highlight that Marriott’s core values have the power to motivate both management and associates to provide exceptional service to customers, the community, and the entire world. The core values benefit not only those inside Marriott's company but also the external stakeholders, especially its customers. This study underscores the significance of core values in shaping organizational culture and behavior. It implies that well-articulated core values can serve as a strategic tool to enhance employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and overall brand reputation. Organizations may adopt similar analytical approaches to assess and refine their core values, ensuring alignment with internal and external goals for sustainable growth and success.

Abstract

The Omed-Omedan Festival, held annually in Banjar Kaja, Sesetan Village, Bali, is a unique cultural heritage event that emphasizes youth participation and social interaction. Despite its long-standing tradition and popularity among tourists, the festival faces several challenges in risk management, particularly concerning crowd control, safety, and health protocols. This study aims to analyze the implementation of risk management at the Omed-Omedan Festival based on the ISO 31000:2018 framework. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving four key informants selected using the snowball sampling technique. The results reveal that although risk communication and identification have been conducted, the overall implementation of risk management remains suboptimal, especially in documentation, monitoring, and post-event evaluation. This study contributes to enhancing event safety practices and offers recommendations for improving the sustainability and management quality of traditional festivals in Bali.

Abstract

This study explores the role of ecolinguistics in preserving linguistic diversity amid globalization, where dominant world languages threaten the survival of local and indigenous tongues. Grounded in the ecolinguistics view that language is part of the ecological system, the research examines how linguistic diversity supports cultural and environmental sustainability. Employing a qualitative multi-method design-combining Critical Ecolinguistics Discourse Analysis (CEDA), documentary review, and comparative case studies-the study analyzes policies, media narratives, and community practices influencing language vitality. Data were collected from policy documents, UNESCO reports, NGO publications, and media texts on language endangerment and revitalization. Findings show that language loss parallels ecological degradation, as languages encode environmental knowledge and sustainable traditions vital for human–nature balance. Globalization’s ideologies of progress and uniformity foster linguistic homogenization, resembling the ecological impact of monocultures. Ecolinguistics highlights the “stories we live by” (Stibbe, 2021)—discourses that either sustain or threaten both linguistic and ecological diversity. Revitalization movements reveal that linking language with ecological awareness strengthens identity and community resilience. Ultimately, ecolinguistics offers both analytical and practical tools for integrating language preservation into sustainability agendas, aligning linguistic and ecological justice to build sustainable futures for people and the planet
