Abstract

Background: Workers in the informal sector engaged in water hyacinth handicrafts typically perform manual tasks for extended periods in static, bent, or non-ergonomic postures. These conditions increase the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which may reduce productivity, decrease work comfort, and lead to long-term health problems. Unfortunately, ergonomic aspects are often overlooked in informal work environments such as the handicraft industry. Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between work posture and musculoskeletal disorder complaints among water hyacinth handicraft workers at Akar Handicraft. Method: This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 35 respondents were selected using a total sampling technique. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire was used to assess musculoskeletal complaints, and the Ovako Working Posture Analysis System (OWAS) was applied to evaluate work posture. Data were analyzed using Somers’ d test. Result: The analysis revealed a significant relationship between work posture and the level of musculoskeletal disorder complaints (p = 0.000), with a positive correlation coefficient of 0.720. This indicates that the higher the risk associated with work posture, the higher the level of musculoskeletal complaints. However, no significant relationship was found between age or gender and musculoskeletal complaints. Conclusion: Work posture significantly influences musculoskeletal disorder complaints among workers. Therefore, ergonomic interventions such as education on proper working posture, the provision of appropriate assistive tools, and the implementation of balanced work rest schedules are essential to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and improve productivity.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems in female students, influenced by various biopsychosocial factors. Social support is known to reduce anxiety, yet the specific role played by different sources of support remains rarely examined in highly homogeneous groups of young women. Objective: This study aimed to identify the relationship between biopsychosocial characteristics, perceived social support from various sources, and anxiety levels in single, parent-dependent female midwifery students. Method: This cross-sectional study involved 43 female midwifery students at a private university in Indonesia. Data were collected using a biopsychosocial questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA). Data analysis used descriptive, Cramer’s V, Mann-Whitney, and Spearman’s rank correlation. Results: The presence of physical illness was significantly associated with higher anxiety levels (p = 0.03). Perceived support from significant others showed a significant negative correlation with anxiety (r = -0.38; p = 0.01), while support from family and friends did not reach statistical significance. After dichotomization, the low-support group from significant others (n=2) had a median HAMA score of 20 compared to 10 in the high-support group (n=41), although the difference was not statistically significant (Mann-Whitney U = 2.000; p = 0.462) due to the very small low-support group. Boxplot visualization showed a clinically meaningful increase in median HAMA scores in the low-support group across all MSPSS domains. Conclusion: In young, single, parent-dependent female students, physical illness and low perceived support from significant others (partner/mentor) are the strongest predictors of anxiety.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is one of the countries most vulnerable to natural disasters, with landslides frequently causing physical destruction and psychological consequences among affected populations. Adolescents are particularly susceptible to mental health problems following disasters due to their developmental stage and limited coping capacity. Anxiety is one of the most common psychological responses that may interfere with emotional well-being, social functioning, and academic performance. Objective: To describe the anxiety profile among adolescents following a landslide disaster at a junior high school in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 539 students were recruited using total sampling. Anxiety was assessed using the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) questionnaire consisting of 41 items. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and presented as descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages. Results: Most respondents were female (55.41%), had experienced evacuation (85.45%), reported moderate to severe housing damage (73.13%), and had lost family members due to the disaster (80.41%). Overall, 70.32% of the students were identified as having anxiety. Separation anxiety was the most prevalent anxiety dimension (78.29%), followed by panic disorder/somatic symptoms (51.58%), generalized anxiety (43.23%), social anxiety (41.37%), and school avoidance (36.36%). Conclusion: The majority of adolescents affected by the landslide disaster were identified as experiencing anxiety, with separation anxiety representing the most prominent psychological problem. Implication: These findings highlight the importance of early mental health screening and school-based psychosocial support as part of psychiatric nursing services to identify adolescents at risk of anxiety and promote psychological recovery following disasters.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a disaster-prone country, where floods and landslides frequently cause not only physical damage but also psychological impacts, particularly among children and adolescents. Adolescents represent a vulnerable population due to their developmental stage, emotional regulation process, and ongoing adaptation to environmental changes. Resilience is an important psychological capacity that enables adolescents to adapt positively, cope with adversity, and maintain mental well-being after experiencing traumatic events such as disasters. Objective: To describe the level of resilience as a psychological adaptation among adolescents affected by flood and landslide disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 616 junior high school students were recruited using a census study approach. Resilience was measured using the Child and Youth Resilience Measure-Revised (CYRM-R) consisting of 17 items with two dimensions: personal resilience (10 items) and caregiver resilience (7 items). Results: Most respondents experienced direct impacts from the disaster, including evacuation (81.49%), moderate to severe housing damage (65.74%), and loss of animals or valuable belongings (62.01%). Overall, most adolescents demonstrated a high level of resilience (81.01%), while 17.86% had moderate resilience and 1.14% had low resilience. Based on the dimensions, high personal resilience was identified among 77.27% of respondents, while caregiver resilience showed a higher proportion, with 83.28% categorized as high. Conclusion: The majority of adolescents affected by flood and landslide disasters demonstrated high resilience, indicating positive psychological adaptation despite experiencing stressful disaster-related events. Caregiver support appeared to be an important component in strengthening adolescent resilience during the post-disaster recovery process. Implication: These findings highlight the importance of integrating resilience-based interventions into psychiatric nursing services, particularly through family involvement and school-based psychosocial programs, to strengthen adolescent coping abilities and support mental health recovery following disasters.

Abstract

Background: Menopause is the end of the biological process of the menstrual cycle which occurs due to a decrease in the production of estrogen hormones produced by the ovaries. Menopause is also the beginning of the cessation of menstruation for 12 months which generally occurs at the age of 45 to 55 years. One of the factors that influence the occurrence of menopause is hormonal contraception. Objective: To determine the relationship between the use of injectable hormonal birth control and age at menopause at the Integrated Service Post Mawar. Method: This type of research is quantitative with an analytical observational design and cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 52 respondents, the sampling technique used was total sampling and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The majority did not use hormonal birth control with a total of 28 respondents (53.8%) and a small portion used hormonal birth control with a total of 24 respondents (46.2%), and the majority of respondents had a menopausal age of > 55 years with a total of 30 respondents ( 57.7%) and a small proportion of respondents had a menopausal age of <45 years with a total of 22 respondents (42.3%). The chi-square test results show a p value of 0.000. Conclusion: There is a correlation between using of injectable hormonal contraception and menopause age. Implication: This finding illustrates that hormonal contraception has an impact on a woman's age of menopause, with the hope that it can be a basis for consideration for the government in designing new regulations regarding the use of contraception in women.
