Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengatasi permasalahan yang terjadi dalam Pasar Wisata Penjaringansari dengan strategi pengembangan dengan perancangan model bisnis perancangan Proposition Value Canvas (PVC). PVC membantu sebuah perusahaan atau organisasi untuk menentukan atau menyempurnakan apakah suatu produk atau jasa yang diciptakan sudah sesuai dengan keinginan dan kebutuhan pelanggan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode observasi dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pembuatan PVC Existing dan PVC Plan. PVC Existing menunjukan keadaan atau kondisi pasar yang ada saat ini dan juga keinginan pelanggan yang telah terpenuhi dan belum terpenuhi. PVC plan dibagi ke dalam bagian umum dan bagian khusus pelanggan, dengan beberapa customer segment seperti orang tua dan anak-anak usia 5-12 tahun, orang dewasa, profesional, pelajar/mahasiswa 13-22 tahun, serta lanjut usia dan keluarga besar lainnya. Karakteristik dari setiap segmen pelanggan berbeda-beda, contohnya orang tua dan anak-anak usia 5-12 tahun lebih memfokuskan fasilitas dan event. Bagi orang dewasa dan profesional lebih memfokuskan pada menu produk dan layanan dibandingkan fasilitas. Pelajar atau mahasiswa 13-22 tahun memfokuskan pada semua bagian, baik fasilitas, layanan, dan produk menu. Lanjut usia dan keluarga besar lainnya memerlukan prioritas produk makanan yang sehat.

Abstract

Upaya pembangunan nasional untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dinilai masih belum terealisasi sepenuhnya berdasarkan amanat ideologi dan konstitusi negara. Hal ini diakibatkan oleh kurangnya integrasi strategi serta dampak pandemi Covid-19 sehingga kegiatan perekonomian di Indonesia, khususnya di Kota Surabaya menjadi melemah. Terlebih lagi, masyarakat Indonesia masih belum mengerti esensi pembangunan nasional dalam rangka kesejahteraan sosial yang seharusnya merupakan suatu “pemberdayaan” masyarakat. Oleh karena itu, Pemkot Surabaya melalui Dinkopdag merevitalisasi potensi ekonomi Surabaya yang salah satunya diterapkan dengan memperluas konsep Pasar Wisata Penjaringansari Surabaya. Namun, perluasan konsep tersebut juga masih belum maksimal. Padahal, para pedagang mengharapkan dapat memperoleh peningkatan ekonomi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya dari berjualan disana. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana potensi Pasar Wisata Penjaringansari Surabaya dan dampaknya dalam meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat serta memaparkan perumusan model bisnis strategis melalui pendekatan BMC. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan data primer serta data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa potensi pasar membantu meningkatkan kualitas ekonomi masyarakat sekitar, terutama dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidup kesehariannya. Potensi tersebut ditinjau dari aspek lapangan pekerjaan, harga komoditas dan produk, penyediaan fasilitas, serta lokasi pasar yang strategis dan perlu dikembangkan melalui transformasi model bisnis yang ada.

Abstract

This study is based on Mary Wollstonecraft's theory of women's rights and Raymond B. Cattel's about character and personality. The study focuses mainly on the main character, Josephine March. According to Wollstonecraft, men and women are entitled to equal rights, which relates to the inequalities that occur in gender studies. Therefore, the author discusses the actions and attitudes taken by Jo March to fight against gender inequality. In addition, the study also looked at Jo March’s character development at the end of his story. The study was conducted using qualitative-interpretative methods. The statements and narratives listed in this novel are considered the primary sources of data. The data is then classified into gender inequality, any experience experienced by Jo March, and character development starting from before the struggle andafter the fight. The aim of this research is to find out what attitudes are best used to address gender inequality. In addition, the study also seeks to find out whether Jo March remains firm in her fight against inequality or embraces it and manages it. This research will focus on all the narratives and dialogues spoken by Josephine March, the main character in the novel.

Abstract

This study was mainly aimed to analyze language function found in the main character in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Movie. The objectives of the study were to find what kind of language function used by the main character in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie and its social dimension. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The writer used theory of language function by Holmes to analyze the kinds of language function and Holmes’s theory to find its social dimension. The data was collected from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” movie. The result of this study showed there were eight types of language function used by the main character. They were referential, expressive, directive, heuristic, commissive, phatic, metalinguistic, and poetic function of language. The writer also found there were social distance scale which were intimate, distant, high solidarity, and low solidarity, and two functional scale which were high information content in the main character’s utterances.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the signs that are depicted in the beauty product advertisements and to find out what are the meanings of the signs that are related to gender stereotypes, by using semiotics theory by Charles S. Peirce. Descriptive qualitative method is also used in this research by analyzing MS Glow x Ayu Dewi – Rahasia Tampil Menarik Wanita hebat and MS Glow x Keanu – Cakep itu Nasib, Good Looking itu Pilihan. In addition, the researcher determined the icon, index, and symbols from those two advertisements as the data. The findings indicate that there are 3 icons, 3 indexes, and 3 symbols that represent women as housewife and women who multitask, 1 icon, 1 index, and 1 symbol that represent woman as a career woman, 1 icon, 1 index, 1 symbol that represents man who was acting tough, and 2 icon, 2 index, and 2 symbols that represent man who has occupational role as celebrity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of speech styles used by the main characters in the Hidden Figures movie and the factors governing the use of specific speech style. According to Joos (1967) there are five types of speech styles; frozen, formal, consultative, casual, and intimate. The study only focuses on the conversation between the main characters with colleagues and family. The descriptive qualitative approach proposed by Ary et al (2010) was used in this research. The data considered for the study was the movie’s subtitles. Hereafter, the utterances classified based on their features of speech styles. The present study found that five types of speech styles have been used in the film. The most used speech styles are formal and casual. The factors govern the use of certain speech styles are the following: the social background of the addressee, speech convergence, and age of the addressee.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to avoid miscommunication and misunderstanding in communication between couple in a relationship. With discourse markers, it helps to minimize those from happening. This research especially investigates the functions of “Oh” as marker of information management and “Well” as marker of response in discourse markers. This research based on the theory of Discourse Markers by Deborah Schiffrin in 1987. Descriptive qualitative method applied in revealing the data by analyzing (500) Days of Summer movie. After collecting the data, the analysis began with classifying the data based on the functions, then categorizing the data by putting them in form of table, continue with identifying the role of “Oh” and “Well” as functions in discourse markers, to finish the research is by making conclusion from the findings. The findings indicate that there are ten functions of “Well” which are as delay marker, as ideational structure of answer, as ideational options, as contigent answer, as answer, as question, as repair initiation, as request, as compliance, and as turn initiator. There are also seven functions of “Oh” which are repairs initiation, as answer, acknowledgement of answer, as information receipt, as recognition display, and as question.

Abstract

This study is focused to analyze the advertisement for a beauty product called Wardah. The objectives of the study are to find out the signs that contained in Wardah’s “Feel the Beauty” campaign advertisement. To analyze the signs, the researcher uses the theory of semiotics from Charles Sanders Peirce. This theory is used because it helps to explain three types of sign content in the advertisement, which is icon, index, and symbol. This study uses descriptive qualitative approach. The result of this study shows that the writer find out, from one advertisement that analysis, the writer finds out the three types of signs, such as icons, index and, symbols, the number of icons that has been found out in the advertisement is 6 (six) data, which all referring to the introduction of Wardah products that claimed can help enhance the confidence of women who use the product. The number of indexes in the advertisement is 4 (four) data, which all data referring to the confident beauty that can improve by using the Wardah product, the number of symbols in the advertisement is 5 (five) data.

Abstract

This research aims to find out what types of code switching are used and the reasons for using code switching by YouTuber Fathia Izzati in her conversations based on Hoffman's theory. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, because the object of this research is taken from YouTube videos. To get data there are several steps taken, namely watching and listening to videos, making transcriptions of videos, select the utterances consisting of code switching. The main theory used to analyze the data focuses only on Hoffman's theory (1991) to analyze the types of code switching and the reasons for using code switching. The results of this analysis show that all types of code-switching are found in Fathia Izzati's utterances namely, Intra-sentential switching, Inter-sentential switching, and Tags-switching. The results of this analysis show that this study can find all types of code switching in Fathia Izzati's utterances. On the other hand, for the reasons for the use of code switching based on Hoffman's theory, the researcher found that of the 7 existing reasons, only 5 reasons for the use of code switching were found in the three selected Fathia Izzati videos, that is Talking about particular topic, be emphatic about something, Interjection, Repetition used for clarification, Clarifying the speech content for the interlocutor. The purpose of using code switching has been explained in the YouTube Channel Fathia Izzati video.

Abstract

This article aims to reveal the way abuse experienced by children characters in Matilda (1996) is represented. Using Qualitative-Interpretive method, this research analyzed the cinematic elements that helps accentuate details or information related to child abuse represented in the film and focuses only on the abuse experienced by the children characters. This research used Stuart Hall’s (1997) theory of Representation, Clark’s (2007) classification of Child Abuse, and Kuhn & Westwell’s (2020) theory of Film Style. The result of this research shows that mise-en-scene, shot, and angle, are the elements used in the film to represent child abuse. This research also reveals that the children characters in Matilda (1996) experienced neglect, physical abuse, and emotional abuse.
