Abstract

Today, pulmonary tuberculosis is a disease, which potentially threatens the whole humanity. Therefore, prompt actions should be taken. Tuberculosis is still the main threat to the global community. In this article, we investigated anti-tuberculosis therapy in an international, state and regional perspective. We have studied the use of combined therapy in treating tuberculosis patients. Thus, combining several anti-tuberculosis drugs in chemotherapy is deemed effective nowadays. We evaluated the drug supply for tuberculosis patients in regions and found out that patients have to take medicines constantly at all stages of anti-tuberculosis therapy. When analyzing the outcomes of cases of treatment of patients with tuberculosis and methods of increasing its effectiveness, we showed that insufficient adherence to treatment, as well as its insufficient control, provide almost half (44.6%) of unfavorable outcomes. Thus, it is necessary to develop methods and methods to motivate patients to comply with the recommendations of doctors. Abstract

Introduction: Cerebral artery diseases are the most prevalent neural disorder leading to serious diseases and death. Stroke is the third cause of death in the U.S. and is the most prevalent neurological disabling disease. This study aims to evaluate the influential factors of the duration of hospital stay in transient ischemic attack (TIA) or ischemic stroke   patients. Method of study This is re retrospective study. The population of study consists of all patients diagnosed as TIA or ischemic stroke who admitted in the neurology department of Urmia Imam Khomeini hospital from August, 2014 to August 2015. Data was collected from the cases’ records and analyzed using SPSS 22.\0 results A total number of 349 TIA and ischemic stroke cases was included in the study of whom, 322 (95.1%) and 17 (4.9%) cases were diagnosed and studied as ischemic stroke and TIA cases, respectively. In 258 cases (73.9%), the involved area was anterior circulation while in 91 cases (26.1%), it was posterior circulation. Considering relevant risk factors, hypertension with 212 cases (60.7%) was the most frequent risk factor followed by past medical history of stroke in 115 cases (33%), congestive heart failure in 113 cases (32.4%), diabetes mellitus in 86 cases (24.4%) and smoking in 72 cases (20.6%), respectively. Conclusion: According to our results, AF rhythm and anterior circulation involvement apparently affects the duration of hospital stay and increases it. This agrees with medicinal literature where AF has been introduced as a risk factor for cerebral embolic diseases and can be considered as a cause of TIA or ischemic stroke.  Keywords: Duration of hospital stay, Ischemic brain stroke, TIA.

Abstract

Vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene has several variants. The distribution of these polymorphisms may vary among different ethnic groups therefore in this paper; we seek to determine population frequencies of selected VDR polymorphisms (FokI rs2228570 and TaqI rs731236) in the healthy Iraqi population. Genotyping for two VDR single nucleotide polymorphism were performed for a total of sixty healthy individuals using Polymerase Chain Reaction- Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). For FokI polymorphism, genotypes frequencies were 70%, 26.6% and 3.3% for FF, Ff and ff respectively and 50%, 45 % and 5% for TT, Tt and tt genotype for TaqI polymorphism respectively. As for the Allelic frequencies, the readings were 83.3 % opposed to 16.6 % for F and f alleles and 72.5 % opposed to 27.5 % for T and t alleles. In addition, the pattern regarding distribution of FokI and TaqI genotypes and alleles in the Iraqi Arab population was different from other ethnic groups. VDR polymorphisms data distribution among the healthy population in this work can be capitalized to investigate possible associations of VDR gene with different diseases. Further, anthropological comparisons can be attained using the same data set. Keywords: Vitamin D receptor, VDR polymorphism, VDR SNPs.

Abstract

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of chronic heat stress (CHS) and pathogen challenge on broilers fed reduced energy, high wheat Midd (WM) diets with or without a mixture of yeast cell wall (YCW) and xylanase enzyme (XE) on performance, carcass fat percentage and the evaluation of diet and meat cost. Two hundred forty (1- day old) chicks (Ross 308) were distributed within 2 Petersime battery brooder units (48 pens: 5 birds per pen). For this experiment, treatments were assigned as an incomplete randomized block design with 6 treatments arranged as a factorial 3 × 2 with 3 levels of energy (3000, 2900, and 2800) and 2 treatments with or without supplementing mixture of (YCW 250 ppm plus XE 25/mg per ton) were used. Chronic heat stress CHS was induced by setting the HVAC system at 36± 2ºC from day one until the end of the study (day 24). Birds were vaccinated with a commercial IBD vaccine via eye drop at 10 days of age, followed by Clostridium perfringens challenge on day 16 and 17 of the study by 3/mL oral gavages 106 cfu/ml. Results revealed that the body weight (BW), body weight gain (BW gain), Productivity Index (PI), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of chicks fed low energy (2800 Kcal with YCW and XE; PVL) then (2900 Kcal with YCW and XE; PL) respectively, were improved numerically but not significantly (P˃0.05) at days 10, 16, 21, and 24 as compared with chicks fed high energy (3000 Kcal with (PC) or without (NC) YCW and XE. Also, no significant differences were found by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA scan) among the treated groups, but % fat of birds fed low energy (2800 Kcal plus YCW and XE; PVL) were decreased (P˃0.05) as compared with chicks fed high energy (3000 Kcal with (PC) or without (NC) YCW and XE). However, average cost of the feed and meat were lower of treatment administration diet have 2800, and 2900 Kcal as compared with 3000 Kcal diets. In conclusion, reduced energy diets did not affect under HS may be low energy decrease heat increment. Chicks fed low energy with or without YCW and XE led to enhance performance and lower carcass fatpercentage. In addition, low energy diet led to lower the cost of diets and meat. Abstract

A ferrimagnetic mixed spin square Blume-Capel Ising nanowire system consists of spin-1 core and spin-3/2 outer shell has been investigated. The general formula for the temperature dependence of the equilibrium magnetization of the system is presented. The ferrimagnetic core-shell nanosystem shows a compensation point when the exchange interactions are changed at various values of the single-ion anisotropies of shell sublattices and core ones, respectively. So, one can examine interesting phenomena are compensation behaviors and the free energy of the nanosystem, where these phenomena found that the mixed-spin square Blume-Capel Ising nanosystem which is being considered has two spin compensation temperatures in the range of ,  when , for two different values of core anisotropy for sublattices of atoms A, , and , respectively.

Abstract

Worldwide, the most prevalent cancer related deaths, poses one of the most risk cancers globally in many countries, is the oral cancer. There are some important factors associated with many human cancers, for example viral agents, which are involved in the spread of tumors, including the Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma. So, this study was resolved to determine the relationship between Epstein Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus with some Iraqi patients who suffer from Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma by using In Situ Hybridization Technique, related to their age, gender, site distribution, histological grade and the tumor stage.According to sixty OSCC biopsies randomly collected during the period between July 2015 and September 2016, EBV was detected in (71.6 %) 43 out of 60 patients, whereas CMV was detected in (36.6 %) 22 out of 60 patients, the mean age was 38 years old and ranged between ( 27-72) years old, male to female ratio was (1.3 : 1) with 34 men and 26 women, most of the cases were tongue SCC 39, followed by gingiva 13 and 8 were at the floor of the mouth. Histological grades involved were 37 well differentiated, 5 were moderately differentiated and 18 were poorly differentiated. Staging of the tumor included 43 patients who fell in stage I and II, while the rest 17 patients fell in stage III and IV. Regarding to the positive results, EBV correlates in highly significant association with each of (age, gender, grading, tumor stage and site distribution at p<0.01), also CMV correlates with each aspect mentioned above in highly significant association at p<0.05.
