Abstract

The Ovary plays a vital role in the reproductive process and this study was carried out in order to investigate the structure of ovaries of the female mature rat Ovaries were obtained by direct incision on the abdominal cavity and were then divided into two sections and fixed in buffered formalin. The sections (5-7 μm) were cut in paraffin blocks, stained with Mayer’s haematoxylin stain, periodic acid Schiff (PAS) technique. In histological examinations it was composed of two main zones, cortex and medulla. The surfaces of the ovaries were wavy and lined by simple cuboidal or columnar epithelium. The tunica albuginea consisted of connective tissue fibres. There were connective tissue cells in the cortex, as well as interstitial cells containing. Primordial, primary, secondary, tertiary follicles, corpus luteum and atretic follicles were seen in the cortex of ovaries. Mean diameters of these follicles varied between 80 and 1600 μm. Medulla consisted of loose connective tissue which contained blood and lymph vessels of varying sizes. The diameter of ovarian follicles in the cortex was measured as primordial 36.5±1.31µm, primary single layer 60.58±2.68µm, primary multi-layer 167.84±5.59µm, secondary with C-shaped antrum 193.83 ± 75.71 µm and graafian 389.62±9.55mm.

Abstract

Quails are becoming more popular as a source of meat and egg because of their small body size, rapid generation turnover and high egg production. Quail eggs are the good source of nutrients for human health, being one of the best and most economical sources of high quality protein. Although quail eggs are small in size, their nutritional value is three to four times greater than chicken eggs and is packed with vitamins and minerals. Quail eggs are becoming more and more popular as they fulfill the criteria of a product with traits of functional food. Objective of this research focused on the effect of different chitosan concentrations (0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5%, 3.0%), effect of storage temperature condition (4oC, 28oC) to quail egg quality. Results showed that coating 2.5% of chitosan and preserving at 4oC could extend quail egg quality for 60 days. Keywords: Quai egg, Coating, Chitosan, Concentration, Temperature, Preservation.

Abstract

Back ground: The injured tissues need to activate their cellular responses in order to restore their normal histological architecture. Leptin has a significant effect on wound healing by enhancing the expression of many biological molecules and cytokines. The present study   aimed to evaluate the effect of topical application of recombinant leptin on induced traumatic oral ulcer healing by mean of immunohistochemical localization of EGF-R. Materials and methods:  Forty eight male Albino rats with body weight between (200 -270 gm) and age between 2-3 months, were subjected to traumatic ulcer with 8 mm diameter by surgical blade no.15 on the right side of the buccal mucosa. The animals divided into two groups; control group: the ulcer treated daily with sterilized distilled water, the experimental group: the ulcer treated daily with 10µl of 1 µg/ml recombinant leptin. The rats were sacrificed at 3,7,10 days. The specimens were taken for immunohistochemical study to detect the expression of EGF-R in both control and study groups. Results: The present study showed that the recombinant leptin increased the expression of EGF-R in the ulcer area only at 3rd day of ulceration by both epithelial and mesenchymal cells with highly significant differences than control group. Conclusion: leptin accelerated the healing process in oral mucosal ulcer by increase the expression of EGF-R in early healing period than control. Keywords: leptin, Oral mucosa, Ulcer, EGF-R.

Abstract

IL-18 is a member of the IL-1 family of cytokines. IL-18 demonstrates a unique function by binding to a specific receptor expressed on various types of cells. Interleukin (IL)-18 was originally discovered as a factor that enhanced IFN-γ production from anti-CD3-stimulated Th1 cells, especially in the presence of IL-12. Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Metabolic abnormalities in carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins result from the importance of insulin as an anabolic hormone. Chronic periodontitis, also known as adult periodontitis, is an infectious inflammatory disease caused by the bacteria of the dental plaque, resulting in the progressive destruction of the tissues that support the teeth, i.e. the gingival, the periodontal ligament, cementum, and the alveolar bone. Chronic periodontitis can also play a role as a metabolic stress or for diabetes control. In this review article, we will focus on the unique features of Interleukin (IL) 18 and its relation with diabetes mellitus and chronic periodontitis.

Abstract

Saliva is produced in salivary gland and the human saliva consists of 99.5% water but contains many important substances such as electrolytes. Mucus antibodies to bacteria and various organisms. This study was studied by enzymes which are biological catalysts of different chemical structures. And affect the speed of some reactions without consumption. The importance of this research lies in the role of these enzymes, which are studied in the health of teeth and mouth “isosomiee, hactoferin, Bromine, globin alga” and the percentage of the concentration of these enzymes. Which are of the quantity and quality of saliva produced from the salivary glands? The latter is an acquired by adapting the activity of the sports activity with the training intensity. Such as long - term diseases of the field work of these glands in secretion is very important in the durability of motor performance such as sports activities. By moisturizing the mouth and facilitating the process of breathing and swallow saliva especially that such sports activities rely on the energy … so the study assumes that the long-distance runners have a quality and the amount of salivary secretion useful more than short- distance runners during periods of rest or practice of normal daily life because the saliva of the mouth decreases during the exercise of violent physical exercise this necessarily means that long - distance sprinters enjoy the health of teeth and mouth over short runners to contain their saliva on an enzymatic con centration. Keywords: Regular sports, salivary glands, short and long distance and sprinters.
