Abstract

This study maps the intellectual structure, research trends, and future research agenda of AI in Islamic Capital Markets using a bibliometric approach. With a descriptive-quantitative design and data from reputable international databases, it analyzes publication growth, key contributors (authors, journals, institutions, and countries), collaboration networks, thematic clusters, and thematic evolution. Results show a sharp increase in publications, especially since 2021, reflecting the rapid expansion of AI applications in Islamic capital markets amid global financial digitalization. Authorship and citation analysis identify Irfan M. as the most productive author, while Abakah et al. (2023) is the most influential work. However, collaboration network analysis reveals a fragmented structure, with zero betweenness centrality among authors, indicating weak interconnectivity between research clusters. At the journal level, the International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management and the Journal of Islamic Marketing dominate as key outlets. Institutionally, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and Hamad Bin Khalifa University are leading contributors, while Indonesia emerges as the most productive country. Thematic analysis identifies four core pillars: (1) AI integration in Islamic finance, (2) investment and financial markets, (3) machine learning-based risk management, and (4) enabling technologies such as blockchain and big data. Thematic evolution indicates a shift toward integrated, value-driven research aligned with maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, sustainability, regulatory governance, and AI-based investment optimization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of metaphor in the novel Yaum Qutila al-Za‘īm by Naguib Mahfouz using the science of bayan. A qualitative descriptive method was employed. The research data consisted of the Arabic-language novel text containing metaphors. Data collection was conducted through note-taking and documentation. Data presentation was conducted using maximum variation sampling, while data analysis involved the stages of identifying, classifying, and describing the types and purposes of metaphor based on metaphor theory. The results indicate that various types of metaphor were found in the novel, namely aqli as-sababiyah, aqli az-zamaniyyah, isti‘arah makniyyah, isti‘arah taṣrīḥiyyah, isti‘arah tamṡīliyyah, mursal al-mahalliya, mursal al-juziyyah, mursal as-sababiyyah, mursal al-āliyyah, mursal al-lazimiyah, mursal itibar ma yakunu, and mursal al-kulliyah. Furthermore, the use of metaphor in this novel serves not only as an aesthetic element but also fulfills rhetorical purposes, namely ta’kīd al-ma‘nā and tabyīn al-ma‘nā. These findings indicate that Naguib Mahfouz employs metaphor as an expressive strategy to convey ideas, emotions, and social criticism in a more profound and implicit manner. Thus, metaphor in this work plays a crucial role in constructing the complexity of meaning and enriching the dimensions of the reader’s interpretation of modern Arabic literary texts.

Abstract

The rising rate of divorce among young couples in Indonesia is closely associated with the persistently high prevalence of underage marriage, which results in households being formed under conditions of psychological, social, economic, and reproductive immaturity. This issue indicates that the state has predominantly emphasized its regulatory function through the establishment of a minimum legal age for marriage, yet has not optimally developed a preventive, educational, and protective system. This study aims to analyze the relationship between underage marriage and divorce among young couples, examine the inadequacy of the state’s role, and formulate strategies to strengthen the state’s function in preventing divorce. The research employs a qualitative method with a normative legal research design through statutory and conceptual approaches. Data were collected through library research and documentation and subsequently analyzed descriptively and analytically. The findings reveal that underage marriage systematically increases the risk of divorce by creating fragile households, while the state’s role remains ineffective due to the high number of marriage dispensations, weak premarital guidance, limited funding, and insufficient cross-sectoral coordination. This study formulates that strengthening the state’s role should be carried out through stricter control of marriage dispensations, competency-based premarital education, upstream prevention through schools and families, social protection, and post-marital assistance. The contribution of this study lies in positioning the state as the primary object of criticism while simultaneously offering a model for strengthening the state’s preventive, educational, and protective functions in developing integrated and sustainable resilience among young families.

Abstract

The mastery of speaking skills (mahārah kalām) is a central aspect of Arabic language learning for non-native speakers, which necessitates an active and authentic communicative environment. This study aims to empirically examine and prove the magnitude of the influence of the language environment on the Arabic speaking proficiency of students at the Muslim Cendekia Institute (IMC), Sukabumi. A quantitative correlational approach was employed. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique, restricted exclusively to second-semester male students who had resided in the boarding system for eight months. From a population of 115 students, this study involved 90 respondents. Data collection utilized questionnaire instruments, with initial validation performed using Microsoft Excel, while reliability testing and linear regression analysis were processed through SPSS 25 software. The results demonstrate that the measurement instrument is highly reliable, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.955. Regression analysis indicates a positive and significant effect of the language environment on speaking proficiency, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 ($p < 0.05$) and an F-value of 138.397. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of 0.611 confirms that the language environment contributes 61.1% to the enhancement of speaking proficiency, while the remaining 38.9% is influenced by other factors outside this model. These findings provide an empirical contribution to the discourse of Arabic language education, specifically by reinforcing the theory that an immersive boarding system requiring target language interaction is a highly effective strategy and can serve as a reference model for higher educational institutions in accelerating language acquisition.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of Islamic law in the context of the transnational migration of Indonesian Muslim students in Sudan. The interaction between Indonesian students and Sudanese Muslim society creates social and legal encounters that reflect the flexibility of Islamic law in responding to cultural and madhhab diversity. This research aims to analyze the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of Islamic law within the experiences of Muslim diaspora students in Sudan. The study employs a library research method using philosophical, normative, and socio-historical approaches to Islamic law. Primary data were obtained from classical and contemporary Islamic legal literature, while secondary data were collected from scholarly journals and studies related to transnational migration and Muslim diaspora communities. The findings demonstrate that Islamic law in the context of migration is not static, but continuously negotiates with social realities and local traditions. The use of sarong by Indonesian students and differences in qunut practices between the Shāfiʿī and Mālikī schools illustrate the adaptive and pluralistic character of Islamic law. This study contributes to the development of socio-historical studies of Islamic law by showing that Islamic law functions not only as a normative system but also as a medium for cultural adaptation, social integration, and the preservation of Muslim identity in transnational communities.

Abstract

This research issnvestigates the application of al-Kinayah (implicit/metaphorical expression) in the Hadiths and Athars within "The Chapter on the Virtue of Knowledge, Scholars, and the Virtue of Teaching and Learning It" (Bāb Faḍl al-‘Ilm wa al-‘Ulamā’ wa Faḍl Ta‘līmihi wa Ta‘allumihi) from the book "Adab al-'Alim wa al-Muta'allim" written by Hadratus Syaikh Hasyim Asy'ari. The aims of this study are to identify the types of Kinayah, their textual meanings from rhetorical and pedagogical perspectives, and their linguistic purposes within this comprehensive chapter. This study applied a qualitative library research method, focusing on the Kinayah theory within Ilm al-Bayan by analyzing specific selected texts consisting of one Hadith and four Athars. The research findings indicate that: (1) there are various types of Kinayah employed in this specific chapter, predominantly Kinayah 'an al-Sifah (expression of a trait) and Kinayah 'an al-Mawshuf; for instance, the phrase "did not smell the scent of heaven" serves as a Kinayah 'an al-Sifah, illustrating how far a person is from heaven due to insincere intentions in seeking knowledge, (2) the use of Kinayah functions significantly for emphasis (mubalaghah), spiritual warning (zajr), and embodying abstract meanings into sensible images, (3) it reveals deep educational values concerning the integrity of intention, intellectual humility, and the importance of lifelong learning and teaching. This study concludes that Kinayah serves as a powerful educational instrument to instill spiritual values regarding the virtues of acquiring and disseminating knowledge.

Abstract

Muslimat NU, as the largest women's organization in Nahdlatul Ulama, plays a central role in the religious development of the community. This study aims to analyze the roles, challenges, and strategies of Muslimat NU Sugihwaras in strengthening the religious life of the community. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, gathering data through in-depth interviews with Muslimat NU administrators and members. The analysis reveals the mechanisms through which the organization formulates and implements community religious programs. The findings indicate that Muslimat NU Sugihwaras performs three primary roles: (1) acting as an agent of religious education through routine study sessions and Majelis Taklim (religious study gatherings); (2) driving socio-religious activities through charitable initiatives and gatherings for women; and (3) safeguarding Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah values by promoting a moderate understanding of Islam within the community. However, the organization faces challenges, such as low participation among the younger generation and objections from some residents regarding the frequency of religious meetings. To address these issues, the organization employs strategies that include enhancing organizational understanding, innovating programs, and utilizing a persuasive approach toward the community. Through these strategies, Muslimat NU Sugihwaras maintains its relevance by adopting an adaptive, community-based approach. The organization's efforts to strengthen religious life are not limited to ritual dimensions alone but also encompass the social and economic aspects of the community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and understand the views of Imam Ibn Ḥazm and Imam al-Ghazālī regarding the legality of state taxation in Islam and their relevance to the fiscal policies of modern states. The study employs a library research method using a descriptive qualitative approach combined with a normative juridical perspective. The analysis is conducted by exploring the methodological and argumentative differences between the two scholars and relating their views to the fiscal needs of contemporary states in establishing an equitable taxation system. The findings reveal that, first, Imam Ibn Ḥazm rejects the imposition of taxes beyond zakat due to the absence of explicit textual evidence in Islamic law, whereas Imam al-Ghazālī permits the collection of additional taxes under exceptional circumstances for the sake of public welfare (maṣlaḥah), provided that such taxation is just, proportional, and temporary. Second, the perspectives of these two scholars are complementary in nature: Ibn Ḥazm’s approach serves as a normative safeguard against the potential abuse of fiscal authority, while al-Ghazālī’s approach is more adaptable and applicable to addressing the fiscal demands of modern states. The integration of these perspectives may provide both a normative and ethical foundation for developing an Islamic taxation system that is legitimate, equitable, and contextually relevant. The implication of this study is that the maṣlaḥah-based approach can enrich the methodology of Islamic legal reasoning (istinbāṭ al-aḥkām) in addressing contemporary taxation issues. These findings underscore the importance of formulating fiscal policies that are fair, context-sensitive, and firmly grounded in the principles of Islamic law.

Abstract

Divorce rates in Indonesia remain concerning, partly due to limited understanding of ṭalāq (divorce) jurisprudence as part of premarital education. This study aims to analyze the concept of fiqh ṭalāq in Islam and explore how male and female students at STDI Imam Syafi’i Jember interpret the role of understanding ṭalāq jurisprudence in shaping marital readiness. A qualitative approach was employed involving thirteen informants (eight female and five male students) from the Islamic Family Law study program who had comleted the Islamic Marriage Law 2 course. Data were collected through direct interviews and open-ended questionnaires, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings show that ṭalāq jurisprudence regulates various forms of marital dissolution, including raj'ī divorce, bā'in divorce, sunnī divorce, bid'ī divorce, īlā', and khulu'. Informants interpreted their understanding of ṭalāq jurisprudence as fostering caution toward divorce, a more realistic outlook on marriage, mental readiness and emotional control, as well as spiritual awareness and reponsibility in married life. Nevertheless, all informants emphasized that understanding ṭalāq jurisprudence alone does not determine marital readiness, which also requires emotional maturity, financial preparedness, and holistic social readiness. This study contributes to enriching Islamic family jurisprudence studies, particulary regarding the relationship between understanding divorce law and readiness to build household from both prospective husbands’ and wives’ perspectives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and articulate the hadith-based and jurisprudential (usuli) methodology of Imam Sharaf al-Din al-Nawawi in addressing the issue of "Mukhtalaf al-Hadith" (traditions that appear to be contradictory), and to investigate the impact of this approach on developing the jurisprudential (fiqhi) acumen and independent reasoning (ijtihad) of students in Sharia faculties across Islamic universities. The research adopts an inductive-analytical approach by surveying and deconstructing the jurisprudential and hadith-based applications and pathways pursued by Imam al-Nawawi in his prominent work, "Al-Minhaj fi Sharh Sahih Muslim bin al-Hajjaj," while linking them to modern pedagogical and educational principles. The study reached several key findings, most notably: Imam al-Nawawi’s approach is characterized by a precise integration of hadith criticism and jurisprudential deduction (istinbat) to resolve apparent textual contradictions. This is achieved through a structured procedural sequence that begins with synthesis (jam‘), followed by abrogation (naskh), and then weighing/preference (tarjih), while interpreting subordinate texts in a manner consistent with the abrogating and preferred ones. Furthermore, this research contributes to developing an integrated applied model that links the jurisprudential rules for "Mukhtalaf al-Hadith" according to Imam al-Nawawi with the mechanisms for building jurisprudential and deductive acumen among university students; thus bridging the gap between theoretical principles and applied tradition in contemporary academic curricula. The research also provides a clear procedural roadmap that helps transform traditional critical thinking skills into measurable and teachable competencies within the university environment. The study recommends the necessity of transitioning hadith curricula in universities from narrative-based, rote memorization toward practical labs for training the "contemporary mujtahid." It also advocates for shifting the study of classical commentaries from a passive lecturing style to an active case-study approach based on jurisprudential principles.
