Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar in sustainable human and social development as well as a vital instrument for economic growth and political stability. However, in the era of globalization, the education gap between developed and developing countries remains a significant issue, widening disparities in access and quality. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using library research methods, analyzing various secondary sources such as academic journals, international policy reports, and educational statistics. The aim of this research is to examine the global education transformation from inequality towards equity between developed and developing countries, as well as to identify the obstacles and enablers of this transformation. The benefit of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview that can assist policymakers in designing more inclusive and equitable education strategies. The results indicate that developed countries have successfully established inclusive, digital, and 21st-century competency-oriented education systems, while developing countries continue to face significant challenges related to infrastructure, teacher quality, funding, and technological readiness. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the digital divide, exacerbating educational access issues in developing nations. Education transformation requires not only technological advancement but also curriculum reform, enhancement of teacher professionalism, and equitable multilateral cooperation. In conclusion, global education transformation towards equity demands a multidimensional approach, political commitment, and stakeholder synergy to ensure education as a basic right that is accessible and of high quality for all humanity

Abstract

Character education is a fundamental aspect in forming a generation that is not only intellectually superior, but also morally and socially mature. In a dynamic global context, character education is key to preparing individuals with integrity, critical thinking, and responsibility. This study aims to compare the character education curriculum in Indonesia and Finland in order to identify effective practices that can be applied in Indonesia. The benefit of this study is to provide strategic recommendations for the development of more contextual, inclusive, and sustainable character education policies and practices. The method used is qualitative with a comparative study approach, involving the study of policy documentation, official curricula, and interviews with education practitioners from both countries. The results of the study show that although both countries prioritize character education, their approaches differ significantly. Indonesia tends to apply a normative and administrative top-down approach, while Finland integrates character education organically into school life, with an emphasis on student well-being, teacher autonomy, and community involvement. The conclusion of this study confirms that Indonesia can take inspiration from the Finnish system, not by imitating it in its entirety, but by adapting these good practices to the local context to form a living, participatory, and impactful character education culture

The purpose of this research is to analyze the definitions of education and culture, elaborate on the relationship between Islamic education and culture, identify factors influencing the development of Islamic education in the era of globalization, and present examples of Islamic education implementation within the Indonesian cultural environment. The research method employed in this article is a qualitative descriptive approach, evident from how the article explains concepts and presents relevant examples from literature and interview findings. The results indicate that education and culture mutually advance each other, and Islamic education serves as an essential tool for shaping human civilization by guiding and controlling science and technology in alignment with the fundamental values of faith and piety. Significant challenges in reforming Islamic education during globalization include limitations in competent teaching staff, resources, differing methods, and the need for curriculum renewal. The application of Islamic education in Indonesia is observed through traditional institutions like pesantren, the integration of Islamic values in local traditions and ceremonies, and the use of media and cultural arts as a means of da'wah (Islamic propagation)
