Abstract

Trembesi (Samanea saman) plays an important role in the Djawatan forest area. The presence of Djawatan forest in the city adds vital value to trembesi, such as maintaining ecosystem stability, soil stability, water supply stability, O2 supply, and CO2 absorption. This study aims to determine the density of trembesi trees in the Djawatan forest area. The presence of trembesi in the Djawatan forest is crucial for the numerous flora and fauna sheltered beneath it. Therefore, understanding the distribution pattern of trembesi in the Djawatan forest area is essential to ascertain environmental influences on the growth of trembesi. The research method used in this study was descriptive qualitative through observation and interviews. Trembesi distribution in this study was observed in four different zones: waterfront, rice field edge, central Djawatan forest, and settlement edge. Based on the research results, it is known that trembesi distribution is influenced by the surrounding environmental conditions. This is evidenced by data showing that the highest average density of trembesi is found in the central Djawatan forest area, which is 0.50%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe or analyze the readability of ecology laboratory manuals, evaluate their effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvement. This research is descriptive. The data collection technique employed readability tests, while data analysis utilized percentage techniques. The research findings indicate an average readability test score of 74.66%, categorized as valid. These results suggest that the laboratory manual is valid and does not require revision, making it suitable for use by students.

Abstract

Seagrass ecosystems are among the ecosystems found in coastal areas. Seagrass beds consist of one or more seagrass species interacting with biotic and abiotic factors in their environment. The objective of this study is to describe the potential of seagrass ecosystems as bioindicators of coastal environmental pollution. The method used in writing this article is a literature review. Articles were collected through literature searches using selected sources (databases) such as Google Scholar. The search covered journal articles published from 2013 to 2023. The research results show that seagrass species are highly diverse along coastal waters. Several seagrass species have been detailed in the study findings. Furthermore, seagrasses have potential as bioindicators of environmental pollution, particularly in assessing the water quality of coastal areas. For instance, seagrasses serve as bioaccumulators of heavy metals such as Cu, Cd, Pb, and Zn in aquatic environments.

Abstract

Assessments carried out by education quality monitoring institutions often ignore student assessments, the results of which are not relevant to what students need. Therefore, the assessment of the teaching and learning process must be carried out transparently and accountable by involving students in the assessment of teaching and learning process. Actions like this are nothing more than an effort to adapt the teaching and learning process to student needs. This descriptive research aims to explain students' preferences for the quality of teaching and learning. A total of 65 prospective biology teachers were respondents, consisting of 17 students in 1st semester, 23 (3rd semester), 7 (5th semester), and 18 (7th semester). From the results obtained, our respondents consider that increasing competence is the most essential attribute or factor related to the teaching and learning process, with an important value percentage of 21.931. Then, teaching organizations (19.901) and learning opportunities (19.662). We use this information regarding student preferences as a guide to improving the teaching and learning process in the future while still correcting several existing deficiencies, such as involving active student participation and providing maximum academic assistance, as well as allowing students to develop their thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the dominance of sea stars (Asteroidea) at Awang Beach, Central Lombok Regency. The research type is descriptive comparative. Sampling was conducted at three stations: Station I, Station II, and Station III, using the transect-quadrat method. Data collection techniques included direct observation and documentation. The parameter measured was sea star dominance. The results indicate that the sea star dominance index at the three stations is 0.576, categorized as low.
