Abstract

Packaging waste for products or goods that are no longer used can still be recycled into goods that are useful and economically valuable. In general, inorganic waste is very difficult to decompose naturally. The problem of increasing waste volumes needs to be handled wisely so that environmental pollution can be avoided, especially inorganic waste in the form of plastic bottles. The state of society in handling waste, especially plastic bottles, is still very low. One way that can be done is by providing education and direct assistance to the public regarding techniques for managing inorganic waste, especially used bottles or other plastic containers into more useful products. Utilizing used bottles as a medium for hydroponic plants is an effective way to raise public interest and awareness about the importance of managing plastic bottle waste. This activity is also a means of learning and motivating the community about hydroponic business opportunities using plastic bottles. Apart from that, this can be a very productive alternative activity for society.

Abstract

Assessments carried out by education quality monitoring institutions often ignore student assessments, the results of which are not relevant to what students need. Therefore, the assessment of the teaching and learning process must be carried out transparently and accountable by involving students in the assessment of teaching and learning process. Actions like this are nothing more than an effort to adapt the teaching and learning process to student needs. This descriptive research aims to explain students' preferences for the quality of teaching and learning. A total of 65 prospective biology teachers were respondents, consisting of 17 students in 1st semester, 23 (3rd semester), 7 (5th semester), and 18 (7th semester). From the results obtained, our respondents consider that increasing competence is the most essential attribute or factor related to the teaching and learning process, with an important value percentage of 21.931. Then, teaching organizations (19.901) and learning opportunities (19.662). We use this information regarding student preferences as a guide to improving the teaching and learning process in the future while still correcting several existing deficiencies, such as involving active student participation and providing maximum academic assistance, as well as allowing students to develop their thinking abilities.

Abstract

Currently, waste is a problem that is not only found in urban areas, but also in rural areas, including in Anyar Village. The Anyar Village area, which is located in the downstream area, worsens environmental conditions every year, especially in the rainy season. Pollution by garbage not only makes the environment dirty, but also causes soil, water and air pollution. To overcome this problem, the village government has announced the construction of a 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) TPS at the end of 2021. In addition to this TPS shelter, there are also waste sorting and processing sites. In terms of Recycle or recycling, training is needed to improve people's skills in processing waste. As a follow-up to the problems faced, the Lecturer Team from Mandalika Education University carried out community service, especially the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Anyar Village in processing plastic bottle waste into sofas, which of course have a high selling value, so it can be developed to improve community economy.

Abstract

The service activity aims to hold a bioacoustic workshop for students of the Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Mandalika University of Education, with the theme of overcoming the problem of wildlife biodiversity research during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This is done so that students know, recognize types of bioacoustics, and understand how to use bioacoustic tools to be used as an alternative to track and identify wild animals without touching or even catching animals that are the object of observation. Bioacoustics is used as a tool to identify the presence of wildlife, the output of the bioacoustic method can also be used to calculate various biodiversity indices, such as the Acoustic Diversity Index (ADI). Bioacoustics is one alternative that can be done in wildlife biodiversity research during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method of implementing the service consists of several stages, including: 1) coordination of activities; 2) preparation of activity tools and materials; 3) implementation of activities: on the first day of socialization (description of bioacoustics and introduction of bioacoustic types) and the second day of carrying out practice and mentoring (practice on how to use bioacoustic tools in the campus environment and assistance in data collection and analysis of bioacoustic data); 4) evaluation; and 5) preparation of reports and publications. Service activities have been carried out on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 14.00 WITA through the Zoom Meeting room and Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Mandalika Education University Campus. Abstract

Partners are in the city of Mataram, namely the Nurul Islam Sekarbela Islamic boarding school. Starting from the problems of the boarding school, including the low level of independent health of students who are staying and also supported by economic needs in the management of Islamic boarding schools, on the other hand, the cottage has a fairly large yard/land but is still not managed optimally. In our service activities, we provide two things that become solutions to the problems of partners at the Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School, namely by providing education on the application of land management / boarding school yards with the Agroforestry system. Agroforestry system is a system of land / yard management by combining farming, forestry and animal husbandry systems. This system will increase land productivity while conserving land, promoting aesthetics with flowering plants, and the farm that we will combine is trigona bee cultivation. In the aspect of cultivation, we will combine agricultural and forestry crops and choose bee-feeding plants, namely resin and pollen supply plants. Meanwhile, from the aspect of cultivation, the team provided assistance in providing flowering tree seeds of the Kaliandra species, etc. The service implementation team held technical guidance activities on how to plant on peat land for the right types of trees and planting patterns.
