Abstract

Shallots are one of the horticultural crops with the best chances of being consumed in large quantities in the community. Low shallot output, however, leads to uncertain shallot pricing—soil degradation results from farmers’ widespread use of inorganic fertilizers. Therefore, organic fertilizer that is safe for the environment must be used. This research will investigate the effects of Trichoderma harzianum and cow dung fertilizer on the growth and yield of shallot plants (Allium ascalonicum L.). The research was conducted in the Banten Agricultural Instrument Standard Assessment Center’s Screenhouse from May to July 2024. The study used two variables: the Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Three repetitions of each therapy resulted in 48 treatment combinations. Cow manure dosages are the first factor: 0 g/polybag, 31.4 g/polybag, 62.8 g/polybag, and 94.2 g/polybag. The second element is Trichoderma harzianum dosage, which may be 0, 4, 7, or 10 g/plant. If a difference is found after a variance analysis at the 5% level, a DMRT is performed at the 5% level. The following attributes were measured: fresh weight, dry weight, bulb weight, number of leaves, bulbs, and bulb diameter. Findings showed that the 94.2 g/polybag dose of cow dung fertilizer affected the quantity of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight, and bulb weight. On leaf number 4 WAP, Trichoderma harzianum (7 g/plant) and cow manure fertilizer (62.8 g/polybag) interacted.

Abstract

The deterioration in the viability of rice seeds (Oryza sativa L.) during storage, frequently attributed to damage to the cell membrane and accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), presents significant challenges for rice cultivation. ELF magnetic fields offer an eco-friendly solution by enhancing cellular responses and repairing membranes. This study investigated the impact of exposure to a 0.2 mT ELF magnetic field on the viability of 8-month-old aged rice seeds (Inpari 32 HDB variety) using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four exposure durations: control (M0), 3 minutes 54 seconds (M1), 7 minutes 48 seconds (M2), and 11 minutes 42 seconds (M3), replicated four times. Results indicated significant improvements in viability, with M2 and M3 yielding optimal germination rates (98.00%, 97.50%), reduced mean germination time (2.47 days), and enhanced germination index (268.75). Radicle and plumule lengths also increased (6.95 cm and 4.82 cm, respectively). Although germination speed coefficient, germination time, and uniformity values (51.50–60.50%) showed only minor improvements, the results underscore the potential of ELF magnetic fields as a sustainable method to enhance aged rice seed viability, contributing to improved agricultural practices.

Abstract

Nowadays, many people follow a healthy lifestyle and preserve the environment, increasing consumption of organic products and organic land in Indonesia. Consumers of organic products state the need for quality assurance in organic products. In contrast, many farmers have limited information about organic quality assurance and organic farming procedures. Education can be carried out through partnerships between organic farming companies and farmers. A partnership system is needed as an alternative effort for farmers and companies to overcome farming problems—the partnership relationship implemented between organic farmers and CV. Reja Mayur has existed for 6 years, starting in 2018. However, despite the growing public interest in organic products, the number of farmers participating in this partnership has decreased. This research aims to analyze factors influencing the decision-making of organic farmers in Claket Village regarding establishing a partnership with CV. Reja Mayur. The study took place between November and December 2023. The technique applied to define the number of respondents is “census,” which means the sample includes the entire population. The sample size used was 11 respondents, the number of CV Reja Mayur partner farmers until 2023. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS by WarpPLS 7.0. The analysis demonstrated that personality (X1) and creative thinking (X3) significantly and positively affected farmers' decisions to join a partnership (Y). However, the participatory management style (X2) demonstrates a positive yet insignificant influence on farmers' decisions to join a partnership (Y).

Abstract

Tobacco is a plantation commodity that is widely cultivated in Sumberharjo Village. There are two types of tobacco for farmers to market: wet-leaf and dry-shredded leaf. This study was conducted to determine the optimal distribution channel for Virginia tobacco products in various forms. The research was conducted in October-November 2024 in Sumberharjo Village. The sample of respondents in this study consisted of 40 tobacco farmers, using randomly selected farmer samples, while the marketing institution samples were obtained through the snowball technique. The variables in this study were the selling price, the purchase price, and the marketing costs of Virginia tobacco. The data analysis used included marketing margin analysis to determine how large the marketing margin is in the distribution channel. The farmer's share analysis is intended to determine how much of the price the farmers own, and a marketing efficiency analysis is used to determine the most efficient distribution channel that will benefit the farmers. The results of the research show that the channel of 2 dry leaves of tobacco (farmers-wholesalers-warehouses) produces the highest farmer's share, so that farmers get the most significant portion of the added value of the product, namely 95%, and the smallest efficiency value, namely 0.406%. Farmers need to do profitable farming by selling in the most efficient distribution channel so that farmers receive high income.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the results of administering doses of cow dung fertilizer and concentrations of plant growth promoters from bamboo roots on the yield of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). Proper fertilization plays an important role in increasing eggplant production, but too much inorganic fertilizer can degrade soil fertility and pollute the environment. Organic fertilizers and biofertilizers (such as PGPR) offer a sustainable solution with less environmental impact. This research occurred in the Banten Agricultural Instrument Standards Center area and was carried out from September 2024 to December 2024. This research used factorial RAK. Cow animal manure (S) is the first factor with three levels, namely S1 400g/polybag, S2 500g/polybag, S3 600g/polybag, and the second factor is plant growth promoter /PGPR (P) from bamboo roots with four levels, namely P0 0ml/l, P1 20ml/l, P230 ml/l, P3 40 ml/l. Each treatment was repeated three times, resulting in 36 treatment combinations. If a difference is found after a variance analysis at the 5% level, a DMRT is performed at the 5% level. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of fruit, fruit weight per plant, fruit per plant, fruit length, and fruit diameter. The research results showed that applying 400 g/polybag of cow dung fertilizer had the best impact on plant height parameters of 8.15 cm and the number of leaves of 6.83 at the age of 2 MSPT. Plant growth promoter from bamboo roots with a concentration of 40 ml/l gave the best effect on fruit number 5.00, length 14.79 cm, and weight 419.42 grams.

Abstract

Effective development planning is essential for achieving economic and agricultural goals, including developing coffee-growing areas. However, research on the role of farmers in this process remains limited. This study examines the planning process for coffee-growing area development in Bengkulu Province and the extent of farmer involvement in the process. The research was conducted in Kepahiang and Rejang Lebong Regencies in 2024, purposively selected as the two largest coffee-producing regions in Bengkulu. A total of 110 farmers from Kepahiang and 227 from Rejang Lebong were chosen through simple random sampling. The study analyzed variables related to the planning process, farmer empowerment through data access (including access to information, participation, inclusivity, and local institutional capacity), and community perceptions measured using a Likert scale. Findings indicate that the government plays a central role as the leading sector in coffee area development. Meanwhile, farmer groups primarily propose activities, provide data, and implement planned programs. Farmer participation mainly involves data collection and program preparation. Meetings provide equal opportunities for farmers to voice their opinions, with no restrictions on participation in group activities or discussions with agricultural offices and extension workers. Additionally, local institutions, particularly farmer groups, facilitate integrating farmers into the planning process. The study highlights the need for more substantial farmer involvement and institutional support to improve planning effectiveness and ensure sustainable coffee area development. Strengthening collaboration between government agencies, farmer organizations, and agricultural extension workers is recommended to enhance decision-making, increase inclusivity, and improve long-term development outcomes. Policies encouraging active farmer participation and institutional capacity-building will be crucial for achieving sustainable and equitable development in coffee-growing areas.
