Indonesian Research Journal on Education is intended as a medium for scientific studies of research results, thoughts, and critical-analytic studies regarding research in the field of education and learning. Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) merupakan prediktor kunci prestasi akademik yang dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan mahasiswa mengelola proses belajar mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji hubungan SRL terhadap berpikir kritis pada mahasiswa di Surabaya dan menyelidiki peran mediasi academic engagement dalam hubungan tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan desain kuantitatif korelasional. Data dikumpulkan dari 350 mahasiswa aktif (Psikologi & Ekonomi) melalui purposive sampling. SRL, academic engagement, dan berpikir kritis diukur menggunakan skala MSLQ, UWES-S, CCTST yang valid dan reliabel (α=.884-.901). Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi hierarkis dan uji mediasi PROCESS Model 4. Hasil menunjukkan SRL berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap berpikir kritis (β = .5840; p < 0.001). SRL juga berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap academic engagement (β = .6230; p < 0.001). Selanjutnya, academic engagement berhubungan positif signifikan dengan berpikir kritis setelah mengontrol SRL (β = .4560; p < 0.001). Uji mediasi mengungkap indirect effect SRL terhadap berpikir kritis melalui academic engagement signifikan (effect = .2840; BootLLCI = .2310; BootULCI = .3420). Direct effect SRL terhadap berpikir kritis tetap signifikan setelah mediator dimasukkan, mengindikasikan partial mediation (56.8% jalur dimediasi). Temuan ini menunjukkan academic engagement berkontribusi terhadap berpikir kritis baik langsung maupun tidak langsung melalui peningkatan SRL mahasiswa swasta Surabaya.
