KABASTRA adalah sebuah jurnal double blind peer-review yang didedikasikan untuk memublikasikan hasil penelitian di bidang bahasa dan sastra. Semua publikasi dalam jurnal KABASTRA bersifat akses terbuka yang memungkinkan artikel tersedia secara bebas online. Pada awal didirikannya, KABASTRA dikelola dan diterbitkan oleh UPT Bahasa Universitas Tidar, lalu selanjutnya melakukan kerja sama dengan HISKI Kedu untuk membantu para dosen, akademisi, praktisi, peneliti, guru, dan masyarakat umum dalam menyebarkan hasil penelitiannya. Jurnal KABASTRA terbit 2 kali dalam satu tahun, yaitu bulan Juni dan Desember. Abstract

Literary work is seen as a work created by the author by imitating or representing real life. This is in accordance with the focus of literary studies using the mimetic approach which emphasizes the study of the relationship between a literary work and the life that exists outside the literary work. This research aims to 1) understand the novel Mata di Tanah Melus using the mimetic approach 2) analyze the relationship between the novel Mata di Tanah Melus and real life or actual life in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara 3) analyze the phenomena and intrinsic elements in the novel that are related to the real life of the people of Belu, East Nusa Tenggara. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative method or research method that utilizes qualitative data and then described descriptively. The object of this research was dialog quotes and narratives in the novel Mata di Tanah Melus. The results of this study are that there are several parts of the novel Mata di Tanah Melus whose life is exactly the same as real life in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

The student view about learning English pronunciation on the use of movies fourth and sixth students on various campuses. This study was aiming to finding the perception about the student’s perspectives in the use of movie in learning English especially in pronunciation and found that watching movies can have a positive impact on students' English vocabulary pronunciation. The type of this research used qualitative research. The researchers used a questionnaire in the form of google form, to collect data from 28 students, which is distributed through online messages. The instrument provided "agree" and "disagree" options regarding the questions that have been given in the questionnaire link and some short entries. The finding showed that movie was effective in improving students' pronunciation ability. The number of percentages as much as 92% of students agree with the perception that by watching English movies it is easier to improve pronunciation skills. Through, watching a movie can help students to easily remember how to read a vocabulary.

Abstract

The development of online communication technology today has changed student interaction patterns, including academic communication through class WhatsApp groups. Class WhatsApp groups have become a medium for conveying lecture information, and humorous language often appears within these groups as part of student social interactions. This study aims to describe the forms and types of humorous language used by students and to understand their function in the context of academic communication. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data sources in the form of conversations between students in a WhatsApp group on November 25, 2025. Data collection was carried out through observation and documentation methods, while data analysis used context analysis. The results show that the humorous language that emerged in this WhatsApp group conversation is classified into three types: social humor, political humor, and religious humor. These humors aim to lighten the atmosphere, strengthen relationships between students, and create a more relaxed interaction space without eliminating the group's main function as a medium for academic communication.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Indonesian language learning on the topic of official letters and to examine its impact on students’ writing skills in Grade VII at SMPN 1 Banjarmasin. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a qualitative descriptive approach involving 31 students as participants. The findings indicate that the application of PBL increased student engagement through group discussions, independent investigations, and project presentations. Most students successfully composed official letters using proper structure and formal language, as reflected in the majority achieving scores in the good category. PBL also fostered students’ critical thinking, collaboration, and responsibility throughout the learning process. Therefore, PBL is proven to be an effective model for improving students’ understanding and writing skills related to official letters.

Abstract

This study aims to explain how the novel A+ by Ananda Putri was transformed into the web series A+ directed by Fajar Bustomi. The focus of this study is to analyze various forms of simplification, additions, and changes that occurred in the elements of the plot, setting, and characters and character depictions based on the theory of ecranization by Pamusuk Eneste. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach and a comparative literary research type. The data sources consist of the novel and the web series A+ available for viewing on Prime Video. The results of this study indicate that the ecranization process resulted in simplifications in several elements of the plot, setting, and characters that are not directly related to the main conflict. In addition, there are also additions of elements of the plot, setting, and characters to strengthen the themes of education and mental health among students. Thus, it can be concluded that the transformation from the novel A+ to the web series A+ still maintains the core of the story, despite undergoing various changes in its structure.
