Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the shift to digital banking, exposing critical gaps in the infrastructure of Bank IRIS, a pseudonym for a prominent international bank operating in Jakarta. During the migration process, Bank IRIS customers' complaints were also piling up; these usually include but are not limited to issues on poor connectivity, repeated errors, and poor responses from the customer service representatives. Design thinking was applied in researching these problems through a structured process divided into five phases, namely: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. In the Empathy phase, consumer interviews and feedback analysis showed that there were significant problems: frequent connectivity errors and poor service recovery. The core problems highlighted in the Define phase were issues of inadequate connectivity, frequent errors, and poor responses from customer service. Proposed solutions during Ideate included the use of CDN, AI-powered chatbots for real-time support, adoption of network indicator to decrease transaction risks, thorough staff training programs, and iterative feedback loop. During the Prototype phase, this research deployed a narrative prototype, presenting scenarios to research subjects that identified problems and provided solutions. Customers were actively contributing to the improvement of these proposals by providing their views in order to co-create feasible remedies. Finally, in the Testing phase, proposed solutions effectively addressed consumer pain points, enhanced customer satisfaction, and received positive feedback from stakeholders. This study gives actionable strategies to improve digital banking services and provides insights that can benefit other banks facing similar challenges in digital transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the contribution of the Social Forestry (SF) Program in Sustainable Forestry Awards (PROKLIM) in 11 villages in Kapuas Hulu and Sintang, West Kalimantan Province. The focus of the research involves villages that have received PROKLIM awards from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), with the hope that the findings can guide similar implementations in other locations. These villages are the target villages of the FIP-1 Project, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The research methods used were case studies and literature studies, with a descriptive analysis approach. The results show two important aspects: first, there is a significant link between the SF program and PROKLIM assessment criteria, indicating that the existence of SF can positively support and facilitate PROKLIM assessment. Second, of the 15 villages facilitated to apply for PROKLIM, five villages achieved the MAIN PROKLIM Award, four of which had social forestry groups, while ten villages achieved the MADYA PROKLIM with all villages getting social forestry approvals. The research conclusions highlight the need for future PROKLIM development strategies. Such strategies include encouragement of climate-friendly economic activities, partnership building, market development, and community capacity building. The implications of this research can serve as a foundation for interested parties, including the government and related institutions, in designing more effective policies to support social forestry and sustainability efforts in the context of PROKLIM in the West Kalimantan region.

Abstract

The ability to classify track conditions has become a critical issue in the railway industry, as delayed detection or unaddressed adverse track conditions can profoundly impact railway safety. Current track maintenance primarily relies on manual inspections and specialized monitoring vehicles, which are constrained by their inspection frequency. Deploying models that correlate vehicle dynamic responses with track conditions in in-service trains could significantly enhance fault detection. However, existing studies utilizing machine learning approaches are notably limited in capturing complex time-series information from vehicle dynamic responses, especially when the data are derived from real measurements rather than simulations. To address these challenges, we propose the application of GoogleNet and Gramian Angular Summation Field (GASF) transformation for classifying track conditions using vehicle dynamic responses. For comparison, we will demonstrate the limitations of traditional machine learning approaches, specifically Logistic Regression and XGBoost, where only the standard deviation and peak value are extracted as features. Subsequently, we propose our approach using the GoogleNet architecture, combined with GASF to transform the time-series data into image representations. Our proposed model achieves high accuracy, in classifying vertical and lateral track conditions, significantly outperforming the machine learning model. The results of this study demonstrate that our proposed method can learn complex nonlinear features, and make accurate classifications. Additionally, the study highlights the inability of the machine learning model, to classify track conditions accurately, and provides evidence that standard deviation and peak value are insufficient as features for complex systems like vehicle dynamic responses

Abstract

Hair plays an important role in supporting appearance and confidence, while hair loss is a common problem. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hair loss reaches 20% in adults and increases with age. Natural approaches such as Kepok banana peel extract, which is rich in antioxidants, flavonoids, and vitamins, are increasingly in demand as an alternative to hair care. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Kepok banana peel extract serum on hair growth in guinea pigs. The method used was a laboratory experimental study with five treatment groups, namely Kepok banana peel extract serum with concentrations of 20%, 30%, 40%, negative Control, and positive Control (minoxidil® 5%). Each group consisted of five guinea pigs (n = 5), and observations were made over four weeks. The results showed that the 30% concentration of Kepok banana peel extract serum had the best effectiveness, with an average hair growth of 0.17814 ± 0.084711 g, close to the effectiveness of 5% minoxidil® (0.19124 ± 0.050439 g). Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the negative Control and the 30% treatment (p = 0.003 in the third week). In conclusion, Kepok banana peel extract serum with a concentration of 30% has the potential to be an effective alternative to hair care

Abstract

Leveraging maritime transport for bulk material shipments is a common approach in supply chain cost optimization efforts. However, the operational aspects of this shipping method are characterized by limited visibility and high levels of uncertainty. This condition is negatively correlated with the company's ability to meet established service level standards, ultimately leading to a decline in consumer trust. This research develops a simulation model to evaluate three scenarios aimed at improving service level. The three factors evaluated are optimization of port operating hours, implementation of a reorder point system, and increasing ship capacity. By implementing a combination of these strategies, the existing distribution system can be significantly improved. The results of this study indicate that implementing a combination of these scenarios can substantially improve the performance of the existing system. The most influential factor is the implementation of a reorder point (Factor 2), which results in an increase of 13.80%. The factor combination that yields the highest service level is scenario number 10, which achieves a service level of 92.36%.
