Abstract

The distribution of combustion air in a Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler plays an important role in determining combustion performance and emission formation. Variations in coal quality result in differences in combustion characteristics, making it necessary to optimize the Primary Air/Secondary Air (PA/SA) ratio. This study aimed to analyze the effects of PA/SA ratio variations and coal quality on temperature distribution and exhaust gas composition in a 115 MW CFB power plant. The simulation was conducted using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with Ansys Fluent 2024 R2 software, incorporating PA/SA ratio variations of 40/60, 50/50, 60/40, and 70/30 for two coal types: Low-Rank Coal (LRC) and Medium-Rank Coal (MRC). The analyzed parameters included temperature distribution and mass fractions of CO₂, O₂, and NOx. The simulation results showed that PA/SA ratios of 40/60 and 50/50 produced more homogeneous temperature distributions compared with the 60/40 and 70/30 ratios. MRC produced higher furnace temperatures than LRC but also resulted in increased NOx emissions. The highest CO₂ mass fractions were obtained at PA/SA ratios of 40/60 and 50/50, with values of approximately 0.16–0.17, indicating more effective carbon conversion. An increase in the primary air ratio increased the concentrations of O₂ and NOx in the furnace. Overall, the 50/50 PA/SA ratio provided the optimal combustion performance, characterized by a more homogeneous temperature distribution, high carbon conversion efficiency, and controlled NOx emissions.

Abstract

The financing industry is increasingly challenged by global economic uncertainty, digital disruption, tightening environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulations, and changing consumer preferences, all of which threaten the long-term competitiveness of financing companies. This study aims to analyze the strategic position of a financing company by integrating SWOT and PESTEL analyses and to formulate adaptive strategies that support sustainable competitiveness under dynamic business conditions. A descriptive qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on PT BRI Multifinance Indonesia. Secondary data were collected from annual reports, sustainability reports, Financial Services Authority (OJK) publications, industry statistics, and relevant academic literature. The data were analyzed through an integrated SWOT–PESTEL framework and further interpreted using the Dynamic Capability perspective consisting of sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring capabilities. The findings reveal that the company possesses significant strengths in digital innovation, strong institutional support, and risk governance. However, declining profitability, asset growth, and dependence on consumptive financing remain key weaknesses. Externally, ESG implementation, digital transformation, and MSME financing present major opportunities, whereas fintech competition, macroeconomic volatility, and regulatory complexity constitute significant threats. The study concludes that integrating SWOT and PESTEL with dynamic capability provides a comprehensive strategic framework for strengthening sustainable competitiveness through digital transformation, green financing, governance enhancement, portfolio diversification, and continuous organizational adaptation in an increasingly uncertain business environment.

Abstract

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of pain and disability in older adults worldwide. While intra-articular corticosteroid injections (IACIs) are widely used for short-term relief, dextrose prolotherapy has emerged as a regenerative alternative with potential for longer-term functional improvement, though direct comparative evidence remains limited. This study aims to systematically compare the clinical effectiveness of corticosteroid and dextrose prolotherapy injections in improving pain and physical function among knee OA patients. This systematic review followed the PRISMA 2020 statement. A comprehensive search of PubMed and ScienceDirect identified randomized controlled and prospective comparative trials published between January 2015 and October 2025, involving adults with radiographically or clinically confirmed knee OA reporting outcomes via validated scales (VAS, WOMAC, KOOS). Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane RoB 2.0 tool. From 724 records, 11 studies met inclusion criteria (six on prolotherapy, five on corticosteroids; sample sizes 40–484). Prolotherapy produced sustained pain and functional improvements at 8–12 weeks, persisting up to 6 months, while corticosteroids offered faster relief (1–4 weeks) but diminishing benefits after 3–6 months. Extended-release formulations (FX006, TLC599) provided modestly longer control. Both interventions were effective for mild-to-moderate knee OA; prolotherapy showed longer-lasting, safe, and cost-effective potential, warranting further high-quality trials.

Abstract

The Indonesian automotive industry faces increasingly intense competition, making operational excellence in after-sales services a critical determinant of customer satisfaction and organizational sustainability. Despite the widespread adoption of continuous improvement practices, many authorized dealerships continue to experience challenges, including service completion delays, inefficient resource utilization, and inconsistent productivity levels. This study aimed to examine the effect of Kaizen implementation on employee performance and its implications for after-sales service productivity at PT Tunas Toyota Gatot Subroto. A quantitative research design with descriptive and verification approaches was employed. The study involved 60 employees from the after-sales division selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25 for descriptive statistics and SmartPLS 3 for structural equation modeling, including validity, reliability, and hypothesis testing. The findings showed that Kaizen implementation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while employee performance significantly improved after-sales service productivity. However, Kaizen implementation did not directly affect productivity; instead, employee performance served as a significant mediating variable linking Kaizen implementation to productivity improvement. The structural model demonstrated strong explanatory power, indicating that Kaizen contributed substantially to improving employee performance, which subsequently enhanced productivity. The study concluded that successful Kaizen implementation should be supported by continuous employee development, active employee participation, and performance improvement initiatives to maximize after-sales service productivity. These findings contribute to the continuous improvement literature by highlighting the mediating role of employee performance in the relationship between Kaizen implementation and operational productivity within the automotive after-sales service sector.

Abstract

The Main Cooling Water Pump (MCWP) is critical in geothermal plants, since failure reduces capacity and increases downtime. This study investigates the fatigue failure of an ASTM A276 Type 316 stainless-steel MCWP shaft at an Indonesian geothermal plant, fractured by a grinding notch from overhaul. The unresolved problem is that the notch was identified only visually, without quantitative stress-concentration, fatigue-life, or numerical validation for repair-radius decisions. A Palmgren–Miner cumulative-damage analysis across startup, steady-state, and shutdown phases shows the baseline notch (r = 0.735 mm; Kts = 3.98) yields Dtotal = 0.6338 at 720 days, while D = 1 requires r ≈ 0.634–0.655 mm, only 14% sharper than baseline. ANSYS Mechanical 2025 R2 simulations across five repair radii (r = 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 mm) revealed a U-shaped Peterson-chart-versus-FEA deviation from a partial-arc effect: since repair depth is limited to 3 mm, the transition-arc fraction drops from 100% at baseline to 48.1% at the largest radius. The novelty of this study is characterizing this partial-arc mechanism quantitatively, distinct from the r/d-based chart deviations reported in prior work. For maintenance and asset management, stress reduction increases with radius up to r = 11 mm, while r = 6 mm marks the smallest chart-to-FEA deviation, which grows again at larger radii; a 0.1 mm radius change shifts damage from 63% to 100% of life, precise enough to guide repair-radius and inspection intervals. By quantifying this partial-arc limit on chart reliability, the study gives maintenance engineers a defensible, data-driven basis for repair-radius selection.

Abstract

Brute-force login attacks pose a significant cybersecurity threat to information systems, potentially leading to unauthorized access and data loss. This research designs and builds an early detection system for brute-force login attacks by integrating a machine learning-based classification model, an adaptive risk scoring mechanism, and automated response actions. The Random Forest model was trained using login attempt log data collected from a controlled test website over two months with 100 dummy accounts, resulting in 30,000 entries comprising 17,000 normal, 5,000 suspicious, and 8,000 attack data samples. The adaptive risk scoring mechanism combines the ML model output with four contextual indicators frequency of failed attempts, access time, IP location, and user agent to generate a dynamic risk score, enabling the system to make decisions based on multiple indicators rather than a single factor. Evaluation results demonstrate 96.5% accuracy, 95.8% precision, and 97.2% recall in three-class classification. Ablation studies confirm that the integration of adaptive risk scoring improves accuracy from 91.2% (RF only) to 96.5% (RF with all indicators). The system successfully blocked 8 IP addresses identified as attacking sources, achieving a false positive rate of 0.7% and an average response time of 42 milliseconds. This study concludes that the combination of Random Forest, adaptive risk scoring, and automated actions provides an effective and comprehensive approach for the early detection of brute-force login attacks.
