Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacterium M. tuberculosis. The emergence of drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis causing MDR-TB is one of the public health problems to date. Globally, it is estimated that there will be 450,000 incident cases of MDR-TB in 2021, up 3.1% from 437,000. The danger of side effects that can arise in tuberculosis patients during MDR-TB treatment is that one of them is a decrease in the number of erythrocytes, the number of leukocytes and platelets. The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of Complete Blood Count (CBC) and ESR in Multidrug Resitant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients at the University Hospital of Muhammadiyah Malang. This study is an observational descriptive study with data sourced from primary data collection. The samples of this study were positive MDR-TB patients from TB-RO clinic of RSU Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang as many as 25 samples, examined in October-November 2023, male and female. The data were analyzed descriptively using tables and graphs. The results of the study averaged more than 50% in the components of hemoglobin, hematocrit, and erythrocyte count decreased. In the platelet count examination component, 32% on average decreased. The average leukocyte count component of 92% tends to be normal. The examination of ESR is not specific for MDR-TB patients, namely the female gender has increased (elongated) while the male gender tends to be normal.

Abstract

This study investigates the portrayal of female characters in the popular mobile game, Mobile Legends, focusing on the character Karina, and its implications for gender representation in the gaming industry and broader societal contexts. Drawing from feminist theories and semiotics by Roland Barthes, the research examines how Karina's characterization challenges or reinforces patriarchal norms within gaming narratives. The analysis delves into the appeal of Karina for both male and female players, exploring how her portrayal embodies a blend of masculine strength and feminine charm. Through the lens of feminist scholars such as Simone de Beauvoir and Spivak, the study evaluates whether Karina's depiction in Mobile Legends aligns with or counters traditional gender stereotypes, particularly regarding the perceived inferiority of women. Furthermore, the research examines the implications of Karina's characterization for players of different genders, considering how it reflects and potentially shapes broader societal attitudes towards gender roles and equality. Ultimately, the findings highlight the complex interplay between gender representation in gaming and societal perceptions, advocating for more inclusive and empowering portrayals of women in digital entertainment narratives.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of company size and capital structure on firm value with profitability as an intervening variable in the Property and Real Estate sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2016-2022. Using a sample of 20 companies, this research employs a quantitative method with path analysis using the Eviews program. The results indicate that company size does not have a significant influence on profitability, while capital structure has a positive and significant impact on profitability. Company size positively and significantly affects firm value, whereas capital structure does not significantly influence firm value. Profitability shows a positive and significant effect on firm value and acts as an intervening variable between company size and firm value, as well as between capital structure and firm value. The theoretical implications of this research underline aspects of agency theory and the relationship among company size, profitability, and firm value. Practically, the findings suggest that profitability is more crucial than company size in determining firm value. It also emphasizes the need to optimize capital structure to prevent negative impacts on firm value.

Abstract

This study aims to find out two problems, namely how is the regulation, role and responsibility of BPOM in the case of drugs containing EG and DEG?; and how is BPOM's responsibility for the legal protection of consumers who consume these drugs? To answer this, researchers apply normative legal studies with secondary data and use qualitative analysis with deductive thinking to draw conclusions. The results of the study stated that there is a legal vacuum in the regulation of BPOM where there is no regulation regarding sanctions if BPOM issues a distribution permit for dangerous products. The role of BPOM in the case of the circulation of drugs containing EG and DEG is in accordance with its function as a product supervisor either before or after circulation, imposing sanctions on business actors, namely revoking distribution permits for harmful products as its authority is regulated in PP 80 of 2017. Preventive legal protection is not implemented properly by BPOM while repressive protection is carried out by reporting and participating in investigations with the police, business actors who distribute drugs with these ingredients.

Abstract

Tacrolimus is immunosuppressive drugs that have a narrow therapeutic range, and a large inter-patient variability in their pharmacokinetics. Serial monitoring of tacrolimus after transplantation is important to ensure the concentration in biological fluids is maintained at the therapeutic range. Blood sampling for therapeutic drug monitoring of tacrolimus is mostly by venipuncture, making it inconvenient and invasive due to repeated sampling. Thus, microsampling has been adopted as an alternative for sample collection as it is less invasive and more convenient for patients. This article aims to review validated bioanalysis methods for tacrolimus to compare the methods using venous sample and microsampling methods. Related studies about tacrolimus analysis method in blood samples were screened from several databases and summarized with PRISMA flow diagram. A total of 12 studies were considered eligible and reviewed in this article. This systematic review provides a narrative of sample quantification of tacrolimus that collected by venipuncture and microsampling method, its bioanalytical method employed to perform the analysis, and clinical validation or application to patients with organ transplants. Studies with microsampling methods have been validated and applied to the patients. Some studies that compared both methods concluded there is no significant difference between tacrolimus concentrations by venipuncture or microsampling methods. Therefore, microsampling can be considered an option for future development of sampling method in tacrolimus routine monitoring.

Abstract

Currently, ASEAN has an economic integration program that is stated in the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint. As is well known, the European Union is the only regional organization that has succeeded in creating economic integration in its region supported by a unified law. One of the legal unification that needs to be initiated by ASEAN in supporting its economic integration is cross-border insolvency regulation. Some international legal instruments that can be a reference for the establishment of the ASEAN Cross-border Insolvency Regulation include the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency and EU Regulation 848/2015 on Insolvency Proceedings. However, the comparison between ASEAN and the EU is not equivalent. ASEAN is a regional organization that is intergovernmental in nature, while the EU is a regional organization that is supranational in nature. Therefore, the comparative approach and statute approach are the right approaches in this article's writing. As for the research method used in this article writing is normative research. The objectives of this article are to describe the legal personality of ASEAN and the European Union in relation to the establishment of cross-border insolvency regulation and provide an overview of the substance of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency and EU Regulation 848/2015 to provide a reference for ASEAN to from cross-border insolvency regulation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the fulfillment of family livelihoods in families with migrating husbands in Pematang Panjang Village, Lima Puluh Pesisir District, Batu Bara Regency. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. The results showed that migrating husbands generally succeeded in fulfilling family maintenance responsibilities although there were variations in the fulfillment of certain types of maintenance, especially biological maintenance which was often hampered by distance. Fulfillment of household needs is mostly fulfilled, although there are variations depending on the needs of children's education and family financial management. The pattern of provision also varies, with the amount of maintenance received ranging from 1.5 million to 4.2 million per month. This study highlights the importance of communication and agreement between husband and wife in the management of maintenance, as well as the crucial role of the wife in educating the children while the husband migrates. The implementation of Islamic values and steadfastness in practicing worship become the main foundation in maintaining family harmony and stability despite the challenges of physical distance.
