Abstract

The population of Indonesia from year to year is predicted to continue to increase, and the social conditions that are influencing and currently taking place are that most people will look for comfort and beauty in choosing the furniture they will use. The lifestyle of most people in the city is also changing due to increasingly significant cultural and social shifts. For example, many people are switching to apartments or houses with limited land due to expensive land prices. Hanani Studio is a business that manufactures furniture and provides related services. As a furniture business that applies the principles of compact space furniture with a multifunctional design, it is hoped that it can be a solution for people with limited residential land so that it can answer their needs. A key component of this design is the use of geometric shapes and the emphasis on the material. Shapes are taken from basic geometric shapes by reducing or separating the basic shapes and using good-quality materials at affordable prices. Utilizing woven rattan, a feature of the Indonesian native way of life, as the primary focal point in shops for home decor and furniture. The furniture that is currently in the Hanani Studio showroom is a product of ready-to-use furniture and custom furniture. This design emphasizes that a multifunctional design approach in designing showrooms and furniture products not only provides practical solutions to space limitations but also offers added value in terms of aesthetics and innovation, improving the overall quality of life of users.

Abstract

The final assignment report, "Designing the Avalokitesvara Monastery in Makassar with a Deepening Sense of Place by Yi-san Studio," contains the interior and architectural design plans for the Avalokitesvara Monastery in Makassar. Designing a monastery with a sense of place aims to create a space that not only functions as a place of worship but can also provide a deep spiritual and emotional experience for its users. In the context of the monastery, a sense of place can be achieved by combining architectural, landscape, and symbolic elements that reflect Buddhist values and teachings. Avalokitesvara Vihara can show the identity of a place of worship that has the characteristics of Buddhist places of prayer in general and provides comfort for users. Additionally, it may draw attention to the Avalokitesvara Vihara and encourage people to visit for prayer. The application of the design is realized by the use of flower and animal ornaments, which symbolize the unity of nature and living things; the colors are typical of Chinese architecture; the square ornament on the door symbolizes life in a better direction; the front door is also made with a model that is very typical of traditional houses in China; and the use of natural materials to provide a comfortable atmosphere during worship. The design of the Avalokitesvara Vihara also applies the New Normal design as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, namely by giving aloe vera plants to help reduce toxins in the air and increasing openings to obtain natural air circulation.

Abstract

With community life at the time of the pandemic entering the new normal, this opens up opportunities for architectural and interior consulting companies to create innovations that answer the needs of society. Many design trends carry the concepts of sustainability, user health, and nature, which are starting to become a trend during the current pandemic. This results from the need for a new normal that considers the impact of design on the user's health more. In addition, the issue of people's mental and physical health has become problematic because the pandemic's effects have had a significant influence on people's lifestyles and the economy. Epi Studio is here as an architectural and interior consultant that applies an approach to biophilic design in each project, to create a space or building design that can have a positive effect and help improve the quality of life of its users. To design eateries that can both attract customers and help users get closer to nature, Epi Studio collaborates with Singaporean eateries. Using the "Dine in Nature" concept, A Singaporean restaurant and coffee shop were designed using a biophilic approach. The design intended to give customers the impression that they were in a natural setting. This idea is implemented using 14 biophilic design patterns, including 3 patterns being prioritized as the primary means of resolving the site's current issues. It's intended that by implementing this idea, it will be possible to maximize comfort and positively affect its users while also providing guests with a feeling of a natural place.

Abstract

Numerous human and natural resources, as well as a rich cultural heritage, exist in Indonesia. But many of us forget our identity, so we don’t realize that we are slowly forgetting our culture. Therefore, Locus. Artifex wants to raise the locality issue through architectural design to revive Indonesian culture and wealth. Planning a botanical garden in Denpasar with an in-depth sense of place, aims to create a green space that not only functions as a place for flora conservation but also as a centre for education, recreation, and the preservation of local culture. The design concept in this design combines traditional Balinese style with contemporary style by highlighting local conventional elements as the building’s characteristic. The design of the Denpasar Botanical Garden is inspired by the shape and layout of traditional Balinese house architecture by applying zoning from the Tri-Mandala, Sanga mandala, Natah, tropical building forms, and Bale. The zoning concept applied is the tri-mandala concept, broadly divided into 3 areas: utama, madya, and nista. The design method used in this design is to use design icons. This approach is used to highlight a traditional theme in a modern way, utilizing literature and traditional forms as the foundation for a design that combines contemporary forms to create something truly unique.

Abstract

Currently, one of the main issues in Indonesia is the issue of climate change due to large CO2 gas emissions in power plants. The Indonesia Economic Prospects report discusses how Indonesia can push climate commitments in the electricity sector into concrete action. Because of this, the government aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 41 percent by 2030. The information for the study was gathered and assessed from newspapers and journals, in addition to using quantitative methods to collect data via questionnaires. In this research, it becomes increasingly important to design bars and restaurants, emphasizing energy efficiency and conservation to meet the current environmental and financial difficulties. This research aims to create a restaurant and bar project that promotes sustainable and efficient energy consumption and aesthetic and service considerations. Implement effective energy use by conducting site analysis of the surrounding environment using tools and software. The results of this analysis are used as basic data in efforts to implement energy efficiency that utilizes natural ventilation and lighting in restaurant and bar buildings without reducing thermal comfort. Apart from this application, energy use in buildings is also calculated with the help of software to obtain concrete results on the successful implementation of energy efficiency and conservation.
