Focus and Scope Animal Breeding and Genetics It covers a wide range of applied animal breeding, genetic evaluation technology, quantitative and molecular genetics, evolution as well as genomics and bioinformatics of farm animals. Animal Reproduction and Physiology Different aspects of reproduction and physiology of farm animals are covered in this scope including and not limited to physiology of fertilization, early development, growth and lactation. Feed and Nutrition It covers microbiology and function of rumen, ruminants/non-ruminants nutrition, physiology and metabolism related to feeding, forage nutrion and provision, feed and feed additive evaluation, technology of feed processing, poultry and other non-ruminants farm animals nutrition and its physiology. Animal Products It covers technology of post harvest of farm animal products, food safety, food security, functional foods, biology of muscle, product composition, and science of milk, meat and egg. Animal Biotechnology Some aspects of animal biotechnology of farm animals are covered including and not limited to molecular nutrition, transgenetics as well as genes identification and manipulation. Animal Health It includes studies about animal modeling on animal health, infection and immunity, physiology of stress, vaccine and therapeutics of farm animals. Animal Behaviour and Welfare Social and sexual behaviour, adaptation, and welfare of farm animals are included in this topic. Environment, Management, and Socio-Economics It covers topics on management of waste and by-products, livestock and environment, farming system, and socio-agribusiness of animal production.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of using fermented coconut cake with tape yeast on dry metter intake, slaughtered weidht, carcass weight and carcass percentage. A hundred two days old male chicken was used in thiss study. This study was assigned into completely randamized design with 5 treatment and 4 replications.  The tretment was using 100% commercial feed, using 10% and 20% of coconut cake in commercial feed and using 10% and 20% of fermented coconut cake with tape yeast in commercial feed. Parameters measured dry matter intake, slaughtered weight, carcassweight and carcass persentage. It concluded that coconut cake and permented coconut cake with tape yeast can be mixed into the ration up to 20% to subtitute commercial feed.

Abstract

The  survey  research  was  conducted  to  investigate  disease  grouping  which  spred  among governmental  grat  goat  in  desa  Petaling  Jaya.  Thirty  six  farmers  which  owned  304  heads  were  used  as respondent. Data collected were disease groups according to spreading into goat and diseases which were found  during  research  time.  The  result  indicated  that  al  of  the  farmers  (100%)  reported  that  their  goat had  spred  by  scabies,  100  %  worm,  milk  production  problem  (100%),  16  respondents  (44.4%)  feed consuption  problem  and  5  respondents  (14%)  swollen  disease.  However,  there  were  only  4  kinds  of diseases  which  caused  goat  death  such  as  scabies,  milk  production  problem,  feed  consumption  problem and swollen disease. From the result we concluded that there were 4 kinds of diseases which were spred into goat in that region such as scabies, worm, milk production problem and feed consumption problem.

Abstract

This  experiment  was  conducted  to  determine  the  corelation  between  estrous  intensity  and increasing  conception  rate  which  is  resulted  from  artificial  insemination  at  local  buffalo.  For  that purpose, 15 local female buffaloes belong to farmer in Lampu’uk Kuta Baro Aceh Besar,  were used. The buffaloes  were  divided    into  two  groups  randomly,  which  consist  of  five  buffaloes  for  control  and  ten bufflaoes  for  treatment  groups.  The  first  group  were  not  given  any  treatment  and  performed  the  estrus naturally,  while  the  second  group  were  synchronized  the  estrous  time  with  CIDR-B.  Insemination  in control group were carried out base on request from the farmer to the inseminator, whereas in treatment group,  the  insemination  were  done  24  hours  post  removing  of  CIDR-B.  The  measurement  of  estrous intensity  were  done  during  insemination  time  using  scoring method  developed  by  Eerdenburg  et  al (1996).  The  pregnancy  detection  were  done  on  the  inseminated  buffaloes    21  days  post  IB  through  no return  estrous  observation  and  rectal  palapation    90  days  post  IB.  The  result  showed  that  there  were significant increasing of  estrous intensity in treatment group  (15.80+5.02) compared to control group (2.60+4.34). The correlation between estrus intensity and pregnancy percentage showed the  significant correlation (r=0.553).

Abstract

The    research    has    purposed  were  to  know forages of  the  gajah  Sumatera    (Elephas  maximus sumatranus)  preference.  Data  primer    was  calculated  with    direct  method  in  field  with    vegetation analysis.  The  result    showed    that most  fodder    types  were   Air  Tenang  (225).  Air  Senaba  and  Air Sabai  (215)  were similar.  Batu  Ampar    (213),  Simpang  Tiga    (207). Air  Riki  was lowest    (197).  The sum    of    elephant  forages  were in Air  Tenang    (70  types),  Air  Senaba  (67    types),  Simpang  Tiga  (66  types), Air Sabai (64 types), Air  Riki (63   types)  and  Batu Ampar  (59   types). The forages type    was liked  as:  Colocasia  gigantea,  Imperata  cylindrica,  Cynodon  dactylon   and  Ichnanthus  vicinus, Angiopteris  avecta,   Knema  sp,  Macaranga  gigantea,  Macaranga  pruinosa, Parkia  speciosa,  Mallotus paniculatus, and  Arthocarpus elasticus.

Abstract

This  research  aims  at  meauring  the  use  of  Sengon  soaked  in  kapur  tohor  and  is  effect  on  the performance  of  broiler. The  Study  used  100  broiler  Hubber  aged  3  days  and  5  treatments  ration  which contain different sengon. The design used in this study was completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatmen.  Parameter  measured were ration consumption, carcas, and digestive tract. The result of this study  shows  that  the  use  of  sengon  in  the  ration  is  effective  segnificantly  (P<0,05)  on  the  ration consumtion, carcass, and  digestive tract. It could be  concluded that sengon can be used up to 7,5% in the ration of the  broiler.

Abstract

The  experiment  was  aimed  to  see  the  effect  of  coconut  cake  fermentation  with Trichoderma Harzianum (TH) in ration on the performance of male broiler. 100 heads of three-day-old broiler chiken were  arranged  to  completely  randomized  treatment  with  5  kinds  of  ration  such  as  0%,  5%,  10%,  15% and  20  %  of  coconut  cake  fermentation  with  TH  and  4  times  replication.  Data  collected  were  feed consuption, body weight gain and feed conversion. Analisys of variance and Duncan’s multiple range test were used to analize the data. The result showed that the use of coconat cake fermentation with TH significantly (P<0,05) reduced body weight gain, but there was no effect (P>0,05) on feed consumption and  feed  conversion.  From  the  experiment  result  we  concluded  that  only  15  %  of  coconut  cake fermentation with TH which can be suggested in male broiler chiken ration

Abstract

The research was conducted to study the biodegradation capability on palm oil sludge substrate by Phanerochaete  chrysosporium   with increasing urea  as  nitrogen  source. The  experiment was  designed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, namely : U-0 = 0,0 %  Urea,    U-1=      0,5  %  Urea,    U-2  =  1,0  %  Urea,    U-3  =  1,5  %  Urea  and  U-4  =  2,0  %  Urea. The observed variables were the amount of spore, C/N ratio, pH, crude fiber, crude protein, lignin, cellulose and enzyme activities. The result of this study showed that added urea were significantly (P<0.01) crude fiber, crude protein, lignin, cellulose and enzyme activities. The use of urea on the first level amounting to  1.5  %  in palm  oil  sludge  can  help  Phanerochaete  chrysosporium   to  reduce  crude  fiber to (30,71%),  lignin (29.89  %),  cellulose (36.42  %) and it  can  increase  the  content  of crude  protein    to    (34.50  %), reduction sugar and enzyme activities.
