Abstract

The  objective  of  the  current  study    to  determine  the  effect  of  the  use  of  bacteria  Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus fermentum in the manucfacture of cow’s milk curd on the total lactid acid bacteria, acidity and pH value of cow’s milk curd. The experiment use fresh cow milk and starter culture of Lactobacillus plantarum, and L. plantarum. Starter culture added about 3% from milk volume than incubated at  room  temperature during 48 hours. The treatments were  fermentation with L. plantarum (A1); L. fermentum (A2); L. plantarum + L. fermentum  (A3). There were significant effect of addition of starter L. plantarum (A1), L. fermentum (A2), and the combination of L. plantarum + L. fermentum (A3) on total  lactic acid bacteria and acidity, however, there was no statistically significant on the pH value of cow's milk curd. It was concluded that using of starter culture combinations of Lactobacillus plantarum  +  Lactobacillus  fermentum  (A3)  increases  the  total  lactic  acid  bacteria  and  acid  levels  of cow’s milk curd.

Abstract

This research aims to study the  influence of water content in the production of biogas from dairy cattle  feces to the quality of sludge. The method used  in  this study  is the experimental method using a completely  randomized design, with  three  treatments  (P1 =  substrate water  content  of dairy  cow  feces 40%, P2 = substrate water content of dairy cow  feces 60%, P3 = substrate water content of dairy cow feces  80%  ) with  six  replications. Variables measured were  levels  of N  total, P2O5, K2O. The  results showed that 1) the treatment did not significantly affect total N concentration, but significantly different levels of P2O5 and K2O, 2) substrate water content 60% (P1) and 80% (P2) generate levels of P2O5 and K2O are highest, ie 1.03% and 1.13% (P2) and 0.84% and 1.00% (P3).

Abstract

The  purpose  of  this  study  to  identify  the  combination  of  the Arenga  pinnata  (AP)    toddy with Citrate  diluent in sheep semen preservation at room temperature. This research conducted laboratory of Reproductive  Physiology,  Husbandry  Faculty,    University  of  Jambi.  In  this  study  using  a  random factorial design in a series of time with 5 treatment combinations and citric coconut palm is P0 = control, P1 = + 2.5% AP + citrate, P2 = 5% AP + citrate, P3 = 7.5%AP + citrate and P2 = 10%AP + citrate, with a  time of observation 0, 2, 4,  6 and 8 hours. Parameters are observed and viabelitas motility. The results of this study showed that administration of the Arenga pinnata toddy 7.5% + citrate diluent can sustain  sheep  spermatozoa motility  (P <0.01). However  viabelitas  concentration was maintained until 10% Arenga  pinnata  toddy. The  interaction  between  treatment  and  the  time  is  10% Arenga  pinnata toddy is good for storage of sheep semen within 2 hours. Conclusion using Arenga pinnata toddy   from 7.5  to  10%  can  maintain  spermatozoa  motility  and  viability  of  the  sheep  that  are  stored  at  room temperature.
