Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of digital entrepreneurship and digital literacy on the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the adoption of digital technology in Indonesia. A quantitative research approach was employed using primary data collected from 155 MSME actors through a structured questionnaire measured on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3) to evaluate both the measurement and structural models. The results indicate that digital entrepreneurship and digital literacy have positive and significant effects on MSME performance. Furthermore, both variables significantly influence the adoption of digital technology, which in turn has a strong positive impact on business performance. The findings also confirm that digital technology adoption plays a mediating role in strengthening the relationship between digital entrepreneurship and MSME performance, as well as between digital literacy and MSME performance. Among the variables, digital literacy shows a stronger influence on technology adoption, highlighting the importance of digital skills in driving digital transformation. This study contributes to the literature by providing an integrated model that explains how digital capabilities influence MSME performance through technology adoption in a developing country context. Practically, the findings suggest that enhancing digital literacy and promoting digital entrepreneurial orientation are essential strategies for improving MSME competitiveness and sustainability in the digital economy.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of transaction costs and opportunistic behavior on the sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, with operational efficiency serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative research approach was employed, involving 185 MSME respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measured on a Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3). The results indicate that transaction costs and opportunistic behavior have significant negative effects on both operational efficiency and MSME sustainability. Conversely, operational efficiency demonstrates a significant positive effect on sustainability and serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between transaction costs, opportunistic behavior, and MSME sustainability. These findings suggest that high transaction costs and opportunistic practices hinder business performance, while efficient operational management enhances long-term viability. The study contributes to the literature by integrating economic and behavioral perspectives within MSME sustainability research and offers practical implications for policymakers and business practitioners to improve operational performance, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen the resilience of MSMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric review of Business Model Innovation (BMI) within the field of entrepreneurship economics, aiming to map the intellectual structure, research evolution, and emerging trends. Using the Scopus database, relevant publications from 2000 to 2026 were systematically collected and analyzed through bibliometric techniques, including co-authorship, citation, and keyword co-occurrence analysis, with visualization supported by VOSviewer. The results reveal a significant increase in BMI-related publications, particularly in the last decade, indicating growing scholarly attention to innovation-driven entrepreneurship. The author collaboration network shows a fragmented structure, suggesting limited integration across research communities. Country analysis highlights the dominance of developed economies, while contributions from developing regions remain relatively low. Citation analysis identifies foundational works related to business ecosystems and value creation, alongside emerging studies focusing on digital transformation, sustainability, and circular economy. Furthermore, keyword analysis demonstrates that BMI research is centered around innovation and economics, with recent trends shifting toward sustainability and digitalization. This study contributes by offering a structured overview of BMI literature, identifying research gaps, and providing directions for future research, particularly in interdisciplinary integration and the inclusion of diverse economic contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of global value chains (GVC) research within the fields of development and business economics using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from the Scopus database and analyzed using VOSviewer to identify publication trends, influential articles, collaboration networks, and thematic structures. The results show a consistent increase in the number of publications, indicating growing academic interest in GVC. Citation analysis reveals that highly influential studies are dominated by themes related to digital transformation, sustainability, and global economic systems. Co-authorship analysis highlights the presence of key scholars who act as central connectors within research networks, although collaboration remains partially fragmented. Meanwhile, co-occurrence analysis demonstrates that recent research increasingly integrates topics such as sustainable development, circular economy, and innovation. Overall, the findings suggest that GVC research has evolved into a multidisciplinary field that combines economic, environmental, and technological perspectives. This study contributes to the literature by providing a comprehensive mapping of research trends and identifying future directions for GVC studies.

Abstract

This study aims to map the intellectual structure and evolution of institutional voids research within the field of entrepreneurial economics using a bibliometric approach. Institutional voids, defined as the absence of market-supporting institutions, play a critical role in shaping entrepreneurial activities, particularly in emerging and developing economies. Despite the increasing volume of related studies, the literature remains fragmented and lacks a comprehensive synthesis. To address this gap, this study analyzes publications indexed in the Scopus database from 2000 to 2025, employing bibliometric techniques such as co-authorship analysis, citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence using VOSviewer. The findings reveal that the research field is characterized by a fragmented collaboration structure, dominated by a limited number of influential scholars and institutions, with weak inter-cluster connections. Geographically, knowledge production is concentrated in developed countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, while emerging economies are increasingly contributing but remain relatively peripheral. Thematic analysis shows that institutional voids serve as a central concept linked to key areas such as entrepreneurship, economic development, and institutional theory, with recent trends shifting toward sustainability, innovation, and inclusive development. This study contributes by providing a systematic and comprehensive overview of the intellectual landscape of institutional voids research, identifying major themes, influential works, and emerging research directions. The findings offer valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, particularly in understanding how institutional deficiencies influence entrepreneurial dynamics and how future research can be directed toward more integrated, interdisciplinary, and contextually relevant studies.

Abstract

This study examines the development of digital maturity as an emerging topic in entrepreneurial economics through a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus. The objective is to map the intellectual structure, research trends, and thematic evolution of the field. A dataset of peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025 was analyzed using bibliometric techniques, including co-authorship analysis, citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence, and visualization mapping with VOSviewer. The results show a significant growth in publications after 2018, indicating increasing academic attention to digital maturity in response to global digital transformation trends. Network visualization reveals that the field is centered around economic concepts, particularly economics, industrial economics, and digital economy, while also integrating themes related to technology, management, and sustainability. Overlay visualization highlights a shift from technology-focused research toward strategic and sustainability-oriented topics, such as circular economy and sustainable development. Meanwhile, density analysis confirms a core-periphery structure, where economic themes dominate, and emerging topics such as digital maturity models, big data, and emerging economies present opportunities for future research. The study concludes that digital maturity is a multidimensional and evolving construct that bridges technological capabilities with economic and organizational performance. It contributes to the literature by providing a comprehensive mapping of the field and identifying key research gaps, particularly the need for integrated theoretical frameworks and broader empirical studies in developing economies. The findings offer valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in understanding the strategic role of digital maturity in fostering innovation and sustainable entrepreneurial growth.
