The Dharma Andalas Community Service Journal is a Community Service Journal published by the LPPM (Institute for Research and Community Service) Dharma Andalas University. Abstract

Andi shop business is located in Indarung, Padang city, West Sumatra province. So far, the business has not had any touch of Information Technology and Appropriate Technology. The food sold is priced at an average of IDR 8,000 per portion and various types of drinks are priced at IDR 5,000 per glass. In running its business, Andi shop is assisted by her wife and 3 children so that there is no payment of wages/salaries for workers. The turnover of Andi shop business is around IDR 600,000 per day. Marketing of Andi shop business is only around Indarung market and regular customers who routinely shop every day. Because there is always a continuous demand for food and drinks every day, the marketing prospects of Andi shop business are quite good to be developed in the future. The priority problem of Andi shop business is currently related to marketing problems with the solution of providing promotional counseling via digital marketing to expand market segmentation to consumers. The method of implementing activities is in accordance with the solutions offered in the form of discussion methods, counseling and practice. The purpose of community service activities is so that partners can develop well and continue in the future in the long term. Partner income is also expected to increase by around 10% per year so that it can increase the income of Andi shop business owners in particular and the economy of Padang city and West Sumatra province in general.

Abstract

Rice is the largest agricultural commodity in West Sumatra. It has an impact on the abundance of rice straw waste. Rice straw consists of 37.7% cellulose, 22.0% hemicellulose and 16.6% lignin. With its high cellulose content, rice straw has the potential to be utilised as a raw material for papermaking. On the other hand, small-scale cardboard industries that use raw materials from the pulp/paper industry's organic solid waste (sludge) are currently experiencing difficulties in the continuity of supply of other fibre materials as a mixture of organic solid waste, so processing rice straw into pulp through the kraft process with NaOH chemicals is expected to be an alternative raw material for the paper industry. In addition, the utilisation of rice straw into paper is also expected to reduce the waste produced. The service activity aims to provide information and training on making paper from rice straw to students at the secondary school level. From the activities, students were very enthusiastic in practicing paper making and making crafts from rice stalks.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted at UMKM Kosmetik Bunda Lubuk Begalung, located in Padang City, with the aim of providing knowledge and practical skills to business owners and employees to improve performance and employee loyalty through innovative approaches. The program focused on training in human resource management strategies and the use of social media as a digital marketing tool. The methods involved interactive training, hands-on content creation practice, and participatory discussions. The results showed increased employee understanding of their strategic role within the business, improved skills in creating promotional content for social media, and more active engagement with consumers. Employee loyalty also improved as they felt more involved in the business development process. This activity demonstrates that combining performance management strategies with innovation and digital marketing can be an effective solution for MSMEs to retain employees and expand their market reach.

Abstract

Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045 is a major national aspiration that requires early preparation of human resources, particularly children as the nation’s future successors. In an ever-evolving digital era, technology plays a strategic role in supporting children's development, especially in enhancing essential skills needed to face future challenges. This study explores how the proper use of technology can serve as an effective tool to develop children’s skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. By integrating digital media, educational applications, and interactive learning methods, children can engage in learning in a more interesting and relevant way for the demands of the modern age. However, the use of technology must be balanced with wise guidance and supervision from both parents and educators to prevent potential negative impacts. The findings show that when used optimally, technology can be a powerful instrument in shaping resilient, adaptive, and competitive children, well-prepared for the era of the Golden Generation.
