Abstract

The Employment Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) is a legal institution that provides social security to workers who have fixed wages, and also provides assistance to non-wage workers such as fishermen, laborers, and even traders. One of the BPJS Employment branches that provides protection for the informal sector is the Meulaboh BPJS Employment Branch. This is important because in Meulaboh, many people work in the informal sector. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the Meulaboh BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Branch works to increase the number of workers in the informal sector in Meulaboh City, West Aceh. This research uses a qualitative method that describes and explains the situation based on the object of research analyzed by checking the truth of the information obtained from the field. The data used is primary data, which is collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the participation of non-wage workers in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program is still low in the informal sector, and many are not registered. This is a problem because in West Aceh there are more workers in the informal sector compared to the formal sector. The lack of protection from labor social security causes unprotected informal workers to immediately get protection from BPJS Employment.

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the effectiveness of village fund management in enhancing both physical and non-physical development in Patiluban Hillir Village, Natal District, Mandailing Natal Regency. This research employs a qualitative study design with a qualitative descriptive data approach. The data collection technique employed in this research is purposive sampling, involving 5 individuals designated as research subjects. Data gathering is conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that: (1) Village fund management in Patiluban Hillir involves a fund allocation of 766 million in 2021, distributed across various sectors such as natural disaster mitigation, empowerment, community welfare, and development. However, the process of fund allocation lacks transparency, as the community is only informed of the total amount of village funds obtained without knowledge of the specific sectors it will be allocated to. Additionally, there is a lack of enthusiasm among the community members, leading to low participation during village deliberations and activities. (2) Development in Patiluban Hillir Village in 2021 prioritizes non-physical aspects, particularly focusing on natural disaster management such as flood and Covid-19. Meanwhile, in non-physical development, the government will undertake community awareness campaigns.

Abstract

This study analyzes natural resource management in Langkat Regency and its impact on the local economy. Using qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study evaluates the implementation of regulations, environmental impacts, distribution of economic benefits, and public perception of natural resource management. The results show that although the mining and plantation sectors contribute significantly to Regional Original Revenue (PAD), economic benefits are not evenly distributed, and many local communities experience a decline in welfare. Intensive exploitation of natural resources has led to significant environmental damage, such as deforestation and water pollution, disrupting the balance of local ecosystems. Weak regulatory implementation and lack of community participation in natural resource management exacerbate this situation. This research suggests improvements in supervision, increased community participation, adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, and policy revisions to achieve more sustainable and equitable management of natural resources. With these steps, it is hoped that Langkat Regency can improve the welfare of the local community more evenly and preserve the environment for future generations.

Abstract

This study explores efforts to optimize tourism potential to improve the regional economy in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. With abundant natural and cultural potential, such as Gunung Leuser National Park and Bukit Lawang, Langkat has a great opportunity to develop as a leading tourist destination. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation analysis. The results of the study show that, despite having great potential, Langkat Regency still faces various challenges, including limited infrastructure, lack of tourism promotion, and low local community participation. Inadequate infrastructure is the main obstacle in tourism development, while limited promotion results in low awareness of tourists' tourism potential. The active participation of local communities needs to be increased through empowerment and education, so that the economic benefits of tourism can be felt equally. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of careful planning, infrastructure improvement, and effective promotion strategies to optimize the tourism potential of Langkat, which in turn can encourage sustainable regional economic growth.
