This study examines how easily secondary school chemistry teachers in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State, can access and use generative AI tools. Assessing instructors' knowledge of generative artificial intelligence (AI), the accessibility of these resources, and their usefulness in chemistry instruction was its primary goal. Data were gathered from 333 chemistry teachers in the city's different local administrations using a descriptive survey design. The results showed significant awareness gaps, with many teachers not knowing about the benefits and pedagogical potential of generative artificial intelligence. Furthermore, it was discovered that these programs had restricted accessibility; the only one with moderate availability was ChatGPT. The survey also found that using the majority of AI tools in classroom settings can be difficult. The study suggests creating focused professional development programs to increase teachers' comprehension of generative artificial intelligence in light of these findings. It also recommends expanding access to these tools by giving schools the resources and infrastructure they require. Furthermore, more approachable, teacher-focused AI systems that are tailored to the unique requirements of chemistry education must be developed. These steps are intended to help educators better incorporate AI into their lesson plans and improve students' understanding of difficult chemistry concepts.

This study examines the role of gamification in enhancing critical thinking skills in online science education, centring on the impact of specific game-based elements and learner cognitive behaviour. The research question examines which gamification features best enhance critical thinking and how motivation and prior knowledge influence possible outcomes. Using a quantitative research design with a survey method, a sample of 600 students was selected from three universities with 200 participants from each institution by a multi-stage sampling technique, initially identifying the science education departments and then selecting participants through simple random sampling of the 400-level students. A researcher-design instrument was used to collect data. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including regression analysis, to assess the relationship between gamification elements and critical thinking skills. Results revealed that gamification, particularly reflection tasks and progress-tracking, significantly aids critical thinking by promoting self-assessment and engagement. However, competitive elements like leaderboards proved less effective, indicating a need for balance in gamified educational learning designs. The study recommends structured reflection tasks and progress tracking for online learning. This suggests gamification's potential to enhance critical thinking when directed to varied learner profiles.

Policy fluctuations have remained a critical challenge in managing higher education in Nigeria. This research investigates the impact of policy fluctuations on quality assurance in Nigerian higher education, a pressing issue amid ongoing educational reforms. The study evaluates how varying policy stability affects institutional performance and academic standards. Employing a descriptive survey design, the research involved case studies of five selected Nigerian universities, incorporating qualitative insights from interviews with stakeholders such as administrators, lecturers, and policymakers. Two hundred fifty respondents, including students and academic and non-academic staff, were surveyed using a self-designed questionnaire titled "Policy Fluctuations and Their Impact on Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Nigeria." The questionnaire featured demographic questions and key variables related to planning, management, infrastructure, and educational standards, measured on a four-point Likert scale. Data analysis included simple percentages, frequency counts, and hypothesis testing using the Chi-square (X²) statistical tool at a 0.05 significance level. The findings revealed that policy fluctuations significantly disrupt quality assurance mechanisms and that active stakeholder engagement can mitigate these adverse effects. The research concludes that stable, inclusive policy frameworks are essential for enhancing educational quality. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the relationship between policy dynamics and quality assurance, offering practical recommendations for policymakers and educational leaders to foster improved institutional outcomes in the Nigerian higher education landscape.

Nigeria's economic paradox of sustained GDP growth alongside rising unemployment, poverty, and income inequality underscores the limitations of relying solely on headline economic indicators. While fiscal policy plays a crucial role in economic management, its effectiveness in fostering inclusive growth remains debatable. This study examines the impact of fiscal policy on economic growth and macroeconomic stability in Nigeria from 2003 to 2023, employing time-series data and econometric techniques such as regression analysis. The study evaluates the relationship between government expenditure, taxation, and income distribution, highlighting the structural inefficiencies that hinder fiscal effectiveness. Findings suggest that while fiscal policy has contributed to GDP growth, its impact is weakened by inefficient government spending, and revenue dependency, particularly on oil and institutional weaknesses. Moreover, fiscal interventions have failed to significantly reduce income inequality due to misallocation of resources and corruption. The study recommends targeted interventions to enhance fiscal policy effectiveness, including increased investment in human capital development, tax reforms, and improved governance. Strengthening fiscal discipline, diversifying revenue sources, and promoting transparency in public finance management are crucial for ensuring equitable and sustainable economic growth. These insights contribute to the broader discourse on the resource curse and the challenges of fiscal policy implementation in developing economies, offering valuable implications for policymakers in Nigeria and similar contexts.
