Abstract

Temper tantrums are emotional outbursts such as screaming while rolling on the floor, kicking, banging your head against the floor or wall, hitting yourself or others, crying, cursing. The impact of temper tantrums on children can pose a risk of injury, if they occur in the environment of friends of the same age it can affect the development of children of their age, because the characteristics of children imitate what they observe. Parenting style is a factor in the occurrence of temper tantrums. The purpose of this study was to determine parenting styles for temper tantrums in pre-school children. The design of this research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional study approach. This research was conducted at the Insan Madani Meukek Integrated Preschool in December 2022. The population in this study totaled 76 respondents. The sampling technique used the total sampling technique. The parenting research instrument used the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) and temper tantrums with 33 questions. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of the chi square test showed that parenting style was related to temper tantrums in pre-school children (P<0.000). It is hoped that parents can apply good parenting, such as democratic parenting where this parenting style is considered good for children because the risk of temper tantrums in children is lower than authoritarian and permissive parenting.

Abstract

Infant growth and development are important aspects that are influenced by various factors, including environmental stimulation, nutrition, and physical therapy. One increasingly popular therapeutic approach is complementary therapy Baby Solus Per Aqua (Spa), which aims to improve infant motor skills through enjoyable stimulation and relaxation in water. This study aims to analyze the effect of Baby Spa therapy on infant motor skills. The method used in this study was an experimental test by taking samples of infants who received Baby Spa therapy regularly. The parameters measured included gross and fine motor development, such as arm and leg movements, head control, and responses to physical stimulation. The results showed that Baby Spa therapy contributed significantly to improving infant motor skills. Infants who received this therapy tended to have faster motor development than infants who did not receive similar therapy. In addition, warm water and massage techniques in spa sessions provide a relaxing effect that helps reduce muscle tension, thus supporting freer movement and better motor coordination. In conclusion, complementary therapy Baby Solus Per Aqua provides positive benefits for infant motor development, which ultimately also plays a role in improving overall growth and development. This therapy can be an alternative for parents to stimulate their baby's motor development in a safe and enjoyable way.

Abstract

Ectopic pregnancy is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, with several factors contributing to its occurrence. This research aims to analyze the causes and risk factors associated with ectopic pregnancy, focusing on tubal factors, hormonal imbalances, infections, previous surgeries, age, smoking, contraceptive use, and obesity. A comprehensive review of existing literature was conducted, and primary data was collected through surveys and medical records analysis. The study found that tubal factors, pelvic inflammatory disease, and previous surgeries were the most significant risk factors. Additionally, obesity, smoking, advanced maternal age, and contraceptive use, especially IUDs, were identified as contributing factors. Unexpectedly, emotional stress was found to have a notable association with ectopic pregnancy. The findings suggest the need for public health interventions focusing on lifestyle changes, mental health support, and patient education about contraceptive risks. Preventive strategies such as early screening for high-risk individuals, stress management, and enhanced contraceptive counseling are recommended. Future research should explore the psychological aspects of ectopic pregnancy, the impact of obesity on reproductive health, and the development of improved detection methods and guidelines for contraceptive use.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the duration of contraceptive implant use and changes in body weight, addressing a common concern among users of hormonal contraception. Conducted as a longitudinal observational study, the research involved 150 participants aged 18-45 who were monitored over two years. Data on body weight, lifestyle factors, and implant usage duration were collected through regular follow-ups and analyzed using statistical techniques to identify correlations and trends. The findings revealed a moderate positive correlation between the length of implant use and weight gain, with participants experiencing an average increase of 3.8 kg over 24 months. Key contributing factors included sedentary lifestyles, higher caloric intake, and younger age. The study also identified challenges in isolating the effects of implants from other variables influencing weight, as well as potential biases in self-reported data on diet and physical activity. The results underscore the importance of personalized counseling by healthcare providers to address weight-related side effects and encourage healthy lifestyle habits among implant users. While the study confirms existing evidence of progressive weight gain associated with contraceptive implants, it also highlights the need for further research to refine the understanding of this relationship and develop strategies for mitigating side effects. This research contributes to informed decision-making for both users and healthcare professionals, promoting better reproductive health outcomes.

Abstract

This research explores the role of traditional midwives in maternal health services in rural areas, with a focus on their impact on prenatal care, delivery, and postnatal care. The study aims to assess the benefits, risks, and outcomes associated with traditional midwifery practices and examine how these midwives are perceived in their communities compared to formal healthcare providers. Using a mixed-methods approach, including qualitative interviews and surveys with local mothers, traditional midwives, and healthcare professionals, the research was conducted in Soban Village, Siempat Nempu District, Dairi Regency. Findings suggest that traditional midwives play a crucial role in providing accessible, culturally sensitive care, especially in remote areas where formal healthcare services are scarce. However, challenges such as limited formal training and integration with the formal healthcare system were identified as significant risks, particularly in cases of pregnancy complications or emergencies. The research highlights the need for policy frameworks that support the integration of traditional midwives into the formal healthcare system through training, collaboration, and community engagement. The study concludes that a hybrid model combining traditional midwifery practices with formal healthcare could improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes in rural communities.

Abstract

This research explores the effect of occupational therapy (OT) on patients with mental disorders, focusing on its role in increasing functional independence and improving daily living skills. Mental disorders often lead to impairments in self-care, social interactions, work capabilities, and other essential life activities, reducing overall independence. This study examines how OT interventions, tailored to individual needs, can address these challenges and enhance patients' autonomy and quality of life. The research synthesizes prior literature on OT's impact in mental health settings and presents a comprehensive evaluation of its effectiveness in fostering independence. Results suggest that OT significantly improves self-care skills, social participation, and vocational engagement, contributing to better mental health outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of integrating occupational therapy into clinical practice and healthcare policy, advocating for broader accessibility to OT services as part of a holistic approach to mental health treatment. This study concludes that occupational therapy is a valuable intervention for patients with mental disorders, promoting long-term recovery and enhancing functional independence in daily life.
