Abstract

This research investigates risk factors for stunting among toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of the Cibodasari Puskesmas Community Health Center in Tangerang City. Stunting, defined as height-for-age z-scores (HAZ) below -2 standard deviations from the median of the WHO Child Growth Standards, remains a significant public health concern in Indonesia, impacting child health and development. Through a cross-sectional study design, data were collected on maternal and child characteristics, household socio-economic status, feeding practices, access to healthcare services, and environmental factors. Statistical analyses, including bivariate and multivariable regression analyses, were conducted to identify risk factors associated with stunting prevalence. Key findings reveal a high prevalence of stunting among toddlers in the study population, with significant associations observed with maternal nutrition, household socio-economic status, feeding practices, access to healthcare services, and environmental factors. The implications of the findings for public health policies and interventions are discussed, emphasizing the importance of multi-sectoral approaches, early intervention strategies, socio-economic empowerment, enhanced healthcare access, environmental health interventions, and community engagement efforts in reducing stunting prevalence and improving child health outcomes within the community. These findings contribute valuable evidence to inform targeted interventions aimed at addressing the root causes of stunting and promoting child health and well-being in Tangerang City.

Abstract

Omega-3 fatty acids have garnered attention for their potential benefits in cardiovascular health and reproductive wellness. This study aimed to investigate the effects of omega-3 supplementation on blood cholesterol levels and ovulation events in trained individuals. A randomized controlled trial was conducted, involving physically active individuals aged 18-45 years engaged in regular exercise training. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either omega-3 supplementation or placebo for a specified duration. Blood lipid profiles, including total cholesterol, LDL-C, HDL-C, and triglyceride levels, were assessed using standardized laboratory assays. Ovulation events and menstrual cycle characteristics were monitored through hormonal assays, ultrasonographic imaging, and menstrual cycle tracking. Analysis of the findings revealed significant reductions in triglyceride levels following omega-3 supplementation, accompanied by trends towards improved LDL-C/HDL-C ratio. Moreover, enhancements in ovulatory function and menstrual cycle regularity were observed in physically active women receiving omega-3 supplementation. These findings underscore the potential benefits of omega-3 supplementation for optimizing cardiovascular and reproductive health outcomes in trained individuals. Future research endeavors should focus on elucidating the underlying mechanisms and conducting longitudinal studies to assess the sustained impact of omega-3 supplementation on health and performance in physically active populations.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea has an impact on disruption of daily activities in adolescents caused by menstrual pain. One way to reduce pain can be done by applying emotional freedom technique (EFT), which can be said to be the psychological version of acupressure therapy. EFT does not use needles, but rather aligns the body's energy system at the body's meridian points, namely by tapping with the fingertips. Research Objective: to determine the effectiveness of EFT therapy in reducing the pain scale of dysmenorrhoea in adolescents in Gampong Peunalom 2 Tangse, Pidie Regency. Research methodology: this research is quasi-experimental with a "pretest – posttest control group" research design using the T-test technique. Population and Sample: The population in this study were young women in Gampong Peunalom 2 Tangse, Pidie Regency, namely 98 young women, while the sample was 10 people, with the sampling technique being purposive random sampling. This research was divided into two groups, namely the control group which was not given treatment and the experimental group which was given EFT therapy treatment. Research Results: The majority of dysmenorrhea pain levels before being given EFT therapy to teenagers in Gampong Peunalom 2 Tangse, Pidie Regency were in category 6 (moderate pain), the majority of dysmenorrhea pain levels after being given EFT therapy to teenagers in Gampong Peunalom 2 Tangse, Pidie Regency were in category 3 (mild), Conclusion: There are differences between the groups who received the intervention and those who did not. Suggestion: It is recommended that respondents add information about EFT therapy because this therapy is useful for reducing pain felt during menstruation

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between stress and dysmenorrhea among female students, aiming to explore how perceived stress levels influence menstrual pain severity. A cross-sectional design was employed, involving 200 participants aged 18 to 25 years from a university setting. Participants completed validated surveys assessing perceived stress using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and dysmenorrhea severity using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results indicate a significant positive correlation between perceived stress levels and dysmenorrhea severity (r = 0.42, p < 0.001), highlighting that higher stress levels are associated with more intense menstrual pain. Subgroup analyses further reveal that academic pressures and poor sleep quality exacerbate this relationship. These findings underscore the importance of addressing stress management and promoting healthy lifestyle habits to improve menstrual health outcomes among female students. Future research should explore longitudinal designs to establish causal relationships and evaluate the effectiveness of stress reduction interventions in alleviating dysmenorrhea symptoms.

Abstract

The use of antibiotics in young children has been linked to disruptions in gut microbiota and immune function, potentially leading to increased susceptibility to infections, allergies, and autoimmune conditions. This study aims to analyze the effects of antibiotics on the immunity of children aged 1–5 years, examining variations based on age, gender, and type of antibiotic used. A longitudinal cohort study was conducted involving 300 children aged 1–5 years. Participants' gut microbiota and immune parameters were assessed at baseline and monitored over a two-year period, with follow-up evaluations every six months. Data on antibiotic use, infections, allergic reactions, and autoimmune conditions were collected through parental reporting and medical records. Microbiota composition was analyzed using next-generation sequencing, and immune function was assessed via blood tests measuring T cells, B cells, and immunoglobulin levels. Antibiotic use led to significant reductions in gut microbiota diversity and altered immune cell populations, with younger children (1–2 years) experiencing more pronounced disruptions. Boys exhibited slightly higher sensitivity to these effects compared to girls. Broad-spectrum antibiotics caused more severe and prolonged microbiota and immune function disruptions than narrow-spectrum antibiotics. Children with frequent antibiotic exposure showed higher rates of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, as well as increased prevalence of allergic diseases and autoimmune conditions. Further research is needed to explore the long-term impacts and underlying mechanisms of antibiotic-induced immune changes.

Abstract

This research investigates the relationship between young marriage and cervical cancer incidence, focusing on how early marital age influences reproductive health outcomes. Utilizing a retrospective cohort design, the study analyzes medical records and health registries of women aged 25 to 65 years in regions where early marriage is prevalent. The findings reveal that women who marry before the age of 18 face a significantly higher risk of developing cervical cancer, attributed to early sexual activity and childbearing, which increase exposure to high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. Socioeconomic factors and access to healthcare services, including HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screenings, are identified as critical mediators of this relationship. The research highlights the importance of culturally sensitive public health interventions aimed at delaying marriage, promoting reproductive health education, and improving access to preventive services. These findings underscore the need for targeted policies that address the unique challenges faced by young married women, ultimately contributing to the reduction of cervical cancer incidence and the promotion of women's health globally.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of herbal sanitary pads in reducing the incidence and severity of Fluor Albus, a common condition characterized by abnormal vaginal discharge. Utilizing a randomized controlled trial design, 200 women aged 18 to 45 experiencing symptoms of Fluor Albus were recruited and divided into two groups: one using herbal sanitary pads infused with natural antimicrobial herbs and the other using conventional pads. Over three menstrual cycles, participants documented changes in discharge frequency, severity, and overall comfort. Results indicated a significant reduction in both the frequency and severity of Fluor Albus symptoms among users of herbal pads, with 65% reporting improvement compared to 35% in the control group (p < 0.01). Additionally, participants using herbal pads reported enhanced comfort and satisfaction, with 80% expressing a preference for continued use beyond the study period. These findings suggest that herbal sanitary pads may serve as an effective alternative for managing Fluor Albus, promoting better vaginal health and empowering women to make informed choices regarding their menstrual hygiene.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between nurse burnout levels and the quality of nursing services, highlighting the critical impact of burnout on both job performance and patient care outcomes. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data were collected through the Maslach Burnout Inventory to assess emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment among a diverse sample of registered nurses across various healthcare settings. Qualitative insights were garnered from semi-structured interviews and focus groups to explore perceptions of nursing service quality. The findings reveal a significant correlation between high burnout levels and decreased job performance, with nurses reporting challenges in communication, patient engagement, and overall care effectiveness. Systemic factors such as inadequate staffing and lack of managerial support were identified as major contributors to burnout, emphasizing the need for organizational reforms. This research underscores the importance of addressing nurse burnout not only for the well-being of nursing professionals but also for enhancing the quality of patient care. Recommendations for targeted interventions and policy initiatives are discussed, aiming to foster a healthier work environment and improve patient outcomes within the healthcare system.
