Abstract

The purpose of this case study is to report on physiotherapy interventions that can be given for toxic epidermal necrolysis in the elderly after taking NSAIDs. Physiotherapy interventions consist of active and passive Range of Motion (ROM) exercises to increase range of motion in all body regions, breathing exercises with deep breathing techniques to relax the respiratory muscles and improve pulmonary ventilation function and positioning exercises to reduce complications caused by immobilization and can increase comfort because it can reduce the pressure that persists on some parts of the body due to a static position. Physiotherapy examinations were measured and written to determine the patient's condition before intervention. In TEN conditions, physiotherapy can contribute to the incidence of TEN for physical rehabilitation to prevent the patient's body function from decreasing.

Abstract

Background : Asthma is a condition in which people with overactive airways experience cough, shortness of breath and reversible airways. Asthma affects more than 5% of the world's population, and some indicators show that its prevalence is increasing. In general, the treatment of asthma bronchial is divided into two parts, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological. One of the non-pharmacological treatments for asthmatic patients is the Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT), which consists of Breathing Control (BC), Thoracic Expansion Exercise (TEE), and Forced Expiration Technique (FET). Research Methods : The research method is experimental, case studies are used in the research design, and data collection techniques are used Pre and Post drops. The sampling technique is random sampling. Examination of dyspnea from respiratory rate and borg scale, while for examination of thorax expansion using the mid line. Result : After doing therapy 3 times, there was a decrease in shortness as evidenced by the Borg scale from a scale of 5 to a scale of 3, a decrease in respiratory rate from 28 to 23 and measurements of thorax expansion which showed a difference in increase. Conclution : Based on these results, it can be concluded that physiotherapy intervention with ACBT exercise therapy is effective in bronchial asthma patients.

Abstract

Old age is often associated with an age that is no longer productive, it is even said to be a burden for those of productive age. These changes will affect balance, flexibility and strength in posture. Core stability is an important aspect ofposture. Flexibility can be defined as the ability to move freely and comfortably within the maximum expected range of motion. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between core stability strength and lower limb flexibility in the elderly. This study uses a descriptive correlation research with a cross sectional model. The measuringinstrument used in this study is flexibility using the Chair Sit and Reach Test and for core stability using the Sit Up Test, and a large sample of 31 elderly people in the Budi Mulia nursing home. The data analysis used is univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of research that has been carried out using the Spearman Rho correlation test method can be concluded that there is no relationship between core stability strength and lower limb flexibility in the elderly. The conclusion is suggested with a larger sample size and a more precise research screening, to be able to find the characteristics of a wider range of respondents which is expected to be wider.

Abstract

A 65-year-old man with complaints of pain in both knees since one year ago, especially when squatting, standing, going up and down stairs and walking long distances. The patient has a history of walking every day with a distance of 5 km. The VDS examination was silent, suppressed, and movement was found to be 1,3, and 5. On physical examination, there was tenderness, palpable warmth, crepitus, and limited ROM on knee extension movements. Functional examination of the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities arthritis index (WOMAC) obtained a moderate interpretation. Radiological examination found the conclusion of Osteoarthritis. The patient was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The patient was then given therapy using Ultrasound 1Hz 0.2W/cm2, Trancutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) 25mA, quadricep setting exercise, and passive stretching exercise where the therapy was given 3 times. At the end of therapy the patient will be re-evaluated with WOMAC where the results are results in an increase in function and a decrease in pain

Abstract

Pleural effusion is the accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavity due to transudation or excessive exudation from the pleural surface. In western countries, pleural effusion is mainly caused by congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, malignancy, and bacterial pneumonia, while in developing countries, such as Indonesia, it is commonly caused by tuberculosis infection. Good management is needed in tackling this pleural effusion, namely removing the fluid immediately and treating the cause so that the results will be satisfactory. This case reports a male twenty seven years complaining of shortness of breath since 1 week ago. Patients also complain of coughing, sweating at night, decreased body weight and fever. On physical examination of the thorax, right chest movement lags when breathing, palpation of tactile fremitus of the right lung is weak, dull percussion of the right lung is at ICS VII-X and vesicular auscultation is weakened at ICS VII-X right lung and crackles are found in both lung fields. Chest X-ray examination showed right pleural effusion. So that the diagnosis of pleural effusion dextra ec. pulmonary TB. The patient was managed with pleural puncture and OAT treatment

Abstract

Trigger finger, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis, is a common hand disorder. A trigger finger is a limited or locked finger when bent and stretched. Disproportionate thickening and narrowing of the retinacular sheath relative to the flexor tendons occurs due to hypertrophy and metaplasia of fibrocartilage on the surface of the tendon pulleys. The main clinical finding is a temporary locking of the finger when bent, followed by a painful snap when extended. The purpose of this study was to determine the decrease in trigger finger pain after the administration of Ultrasound (US) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) interventions. This study uses the case study method. The sample for this study was a 42-year-old woman who was given physiotherapy intervention in the form of a combination of Ultrasound (US) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) six times for two weeks. Pain was measured by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The results of the study show that giving Ultrasound (US) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) can reduce pain in trigger finger sufferers. Keywords: Trigger Finger, Ultrasound, Neuromuscular Tapping (NMT), Pain
