Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of the use of the “foreign stooge” narrative in Prabowo Subianto’s political communication, which reflects the symbolic construction of the “us” and “them” groups. This study employs a qualitative approach using Fairclough’s model of Critical Discourse Analysis. Data were collected from political speeches, media statements, and digital content containing the “foreign stooge” narrative. The analysis was conducted in three stages: (1) textual analysis to identify linguistic strategies and rhetorical patterns; (2) discourse practice analysis to trace the context of message production and dissemination; and (3) social practice analysis to uncover the relationships between language, ideology, and power that shape political meaning within the discourse.

Abstract

Ankle fractures are among the most frequently operatively treated injuries, yet optimal postoperative rehabilitation remains controversial. This PRISMA 2020 review included 25 reports (23 cohorts; 3,613 participants) comparing early mobilization without cast with cast immobilization after ORIF. Early mobilization significantly improved OMAS at 6–8 weeks (MD 9.42; 95% CI 4.80–14.03; p<0.0001) and 12 weeks–4 months (MD 6.12; 95% CI 2.28–9.96; p=0.0018), but the advantage disappeared by ≥12 months (MD 0.71; 95% CI -1.20 to 2.61; p=0.467), with significant temporal decay (β=-3.60; p=0.005). Range of motion, return to work, pre-injury activity, and short-term quality of life favored early mobilization, without significant increases in fixation failure/non-union or thromboembolism, although wound complications were numerically higher. Implant removal was significantly reduced (RR 0.10). Early mobilization therefore provides clinically meaningful short-term benefits during the first 3–4 months, with the advantage no longer detectable at one year.

Abstract

Excessive free radicals contribute to oxidative stress, highlighting the need for natural antioxidants. This study aimed to determine total flavonoid and total phenolic contents and evaluate the antioxidant activity of Wurfbainia compacta Sol. ex. Maton fruit extracts. An experimental laboratory study was conducted using sonication with 70% ethanol and 70% ethyl acetate. Total flavonoid and total phenolic contents were determined spectrophotometrically using quercetin and gallic acid as standards, respectively, while antioxidant activity was measured using the FRAP assay with Trolox as a standard. The flavonoid contents of the 70% ethanol and 70% ethyl acetate extracts were 0.651 and 0.856 mg QE/g, respectively, while phenolic contents were 46.85 and 44.56 mg GAE/g for ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively. The antioxidant capacities of the 70% ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of cardamom fruit were 345.58 and 454.24 mg TE/g, respectively.

Abstract

The growth of digital media has made Instagram a key platform for public service communication by the Indonesian National Police (Polri). The Polri 110 service requires messages that are informative, easy to understand, and engaging, while also supporting the maintenance of the institution’s image as responsive and community-oriented. This study analyzes the messaging strategies employed by the Polri Public Relations Division (Divhumas) via its Instagram account @divisihumaspolri and their contribution to maintaining the Polri’s image. Using Belch and Belch’s advertising appeal framework, the study examines rational, emotional, and humorous appeals through a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation during July–August 2026. The findings indicate that all three appeals are integrated throughout the entire process—from message planning and visual production to publication. Rational appeal provides factual reasons for using the service; emotional appeal builds empathy, closeness, and a sense of security; while humor serves as an attention-grabber. Collectively, these strategies strengthen public trust and understanding, humanize the image of the Indonesian National Police, support the credibility of the service, and build a positive perception of the Indonesian National Police as an institution that is informative, responsive, humane, and accessible.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the financial bookkeeping development policy/program at CV. KAHFI in Bogor City, identifies its supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulates improvement strategies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document review involving the owner and bookkeeping staff of CV. KAHFI, officials from the Bogor City Office of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises and program facilitators. The findings indicate that the development program was implemented through training in preparing simple financial statements, training in the use of digital recording applications, and follow-up mentoring. However, CV. KAHFI has not been explicitly positioned as a target group with specific needs, while the availability of facilitators, training modules, and mentoring duration remains limited. The most evident improvements in bookkeeping occurred in aspects that received follow-up mentoring, as indicated by more orderly daily transaction recording and the business owner’s ability to independently read simple financial statements, while the separation of capital contributions among partners remains a constraint. The improvement strategies formulated include explicitly recognizing CVs as a target group, updating digital modules, strengthening technical coordination, ensuring continuity of mentoring, adapting the approach to business characteristics, and developing peer mentoring. This study enriches the literature on the implementation of business development policies by positioning a business entity in the form of a commanditaire vennootschap (CV), which has rarely been treated as a distinct unit of analysis, as the context of an in-depth case study.

Abstract

Epithelial ovarian cancer is a major cause of gynecological cancer-related morbidity and mortality. Several factors, including age, parity, contraceptive use, and family history, have been reported to influence the risk of ovarian cancer. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer treated at Tarakan Regional General Hospital, Jakarta, and to examine the association of epithelial ovarian cancer with age, parity, contraceptive use, and family history. This observational analytic study used a cross-sectional design and secondary data obtained from the medical records of patients treated between 2018 and 2022. A total of 50 eligible patients were included using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Most patients were aged >50 years (58.0%), had a parity of ≥1 (98.0%), had not used contraception (76.0%), and had no family history of ovarian cancer (92.0%). Chi-square analysis showed no statistically significant associations between age (p = 0.069), parity (p = 0.465), contraceptive use (p = 0.326), or family history (p = 0.637) and epithelial ovarian cancer. The majority of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer were aged >50 years, had given birth at least once, had no history of contraceptive use, and had no family history of ovarian cancer. Further studies involving larger sample sizes and an appropriate comparison group are needed to better investigate potential risk factors for epithelial ovarian cancer.
