Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of sugar dressing treatment from Lawang sugar cane on incision wound healing process of rabbit skin. Nine New Zealand white rabbits were divided into three treatment groups with three rabbits per group. In negative control group (KN), the wounds were only treated with distilled water, while in SD60 and SD100 groups, the wounds were treated with 60% and 100% sugar solution, respectively. The treatment was given once daily for 7 days. The results showed that the sugar dressing treatments have significant effect (P0.05) on the size of the wound area and increased the collagen density, but did not have significant effect on the remaining length of the wound.Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that sugar dressing dressing treatment from Lawang sugar cane is effective in increasing collagen density in the wound healing process.

Abstract

Alzheimers Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that damages the brain and is part of dementia. Alzheimers dementia is caused by various factors that until now the proper therapy is uncertain. Kit production as a diagnostic tool to support the development of screening for Alzheimers disease is a strategic effort. Screening based on detection with Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) can work effectively and accurately to optimize a specific antibody material or monoclonal antibody to the A42 peptide. This study aimed to research the reliability of the amyloid detection kit which was developed as an alternative screening test for Alzheimers disease compared to commercially available kits. Based on the results and interpretation of inter and intra-assay coefficients, the in-house ELISA kit has comparable A42 detection to the commercially available ELISA kit

Abstract

This research was conducted to provide information on the production performance of quail parent stock and its offspring with various IgY concentrations. A total of 42 female quail parents stock aged five weeks old were used in this study. Five quails were categorized as medium IgY group with concentrations of 431.12-531.87 g/mL and 37 quails were categorized as low IgY group with concentration of 251.87-384.68 g/mL. The variables observed were the production performance such as initial body weight, feed intake, final body weight, body weight gain, number of eggs, egg mass, egg weight, egg laying intensity, feed conversion, morbidity, and mortality rate and IgY concentration of the yolk of the offsprings. Production performance of female quail with different concentrations of IgY was not significantly different (P0.05). IgY concentration of offsprings in egg yolk was also not significantly different (P0.05) in both groups. The results showed that female quails parent stock with low blood IgY showed better production. Meanwhile, female quail parents stock with moderate blood IgY concentrations produced offspring with high-maternal IgY concentrations in yolk.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the quality of Brahman cattle spermatozoa after freezing in various diluent ingredients (Egg Yolk Citrate, Egg Yolk Tris, Skim Milk) which added vitamin C and vitamin E. The research was carried out using 4 treatments with 3 different diluent ingredients, each of which was Vitamins C and E are added to each diluent ingredient at a dose adjusted to the type of diluent agent. The treatment given is P0: Diluent without Vitamin C and E; P1: Diluent + Vitamin C; P2: Diluent + Vitamin E; and P3: Diluent + Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Research data were analyzed using analysis of variance and followed by Duncan's test at the 5% and/or 1% level for different variables. The results showed that the addition of vitamin C and vitamin E had a significant effect (P0.05) on motility and viability in the egg yolk tris diluent and egg yolk citrate but had no significant effect (P0.05) in the skim milk diluent. The use of different diluents had no significant effect (P0.05) on motility, viability, and abnormalities. This research concludes that Vitamin C added to the diluent tris egg yolk, egg yolk citrate, and skim milk showed higher average motility, percentage of live spermatozoa, and abnormalities of post-freezing Brahman cow spermatozoa.

Abstract

This study aims to study the effectiveness of single placental stem cell therapy or cardiomyocyte combination in pigs experiencing myocardial infarction in terms of urea, creatinine and kidney organ histopathology values. A total of 9 pigs were divided int o three groups: without therapy (K1), single placental stem cell therapy (K2), and cardiomyocyte coculture combination therapy (K3). All pigs underwent circumflex artery ligation of the proximal coronary artery branch to stimulate cardiac ischemia and therapy was given after myocardial infarction and ST-elevation were formed. The pigs were then treated for eight weeks, euthanized and necropsied for kidney organ removal. The re sults showed a significant decrease in urea and creatinine values (P0.05) in K2 and K3 as compared to K1. Histopathology results showed a decrease in glomerular atrophy values (K2: 10.260.93 and K3: 12.441.21), tubular necrosis (K2: 13.673.76 and K3: 17.230.55), and tubular dilation (K2: 16.361.26 and K3: 18.031.76) and these values were significantly different than those observed in K1. It was concluded that the administration of placental stem cell therapy or combined with cardiomyocyte coculture could reduce urea, creatinine values, and improve kidney tissue histopathologically.

Abstract

his study was designated to the members of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) in DKI Jakarta and West Java Province between May and August 2023. The sample size was calculated with the Slovin method which covered 260 respondents with a significance level of 5.4%. Questions was focused mainly on the respondents identity, perianesthesia procedures, and anesthesia topic for continuing professional development. The majority of respondents performed 5 cases of anesthesia per week in dogs (76.9%) and cats (36.2%). Preanesthesia physical examination was carried out by 96% of respondents. Premedication was always given to dogs (66.2%) and cats (63.5%). IV catheter placement was always given in 41.2% of dogs and frequently in 38.5% of cats. Atropine was the most widely used premedication agent (88%) and meloxicam mainly used for analgesic (57%). The induction agent widely used was ketamine (34), while the maintenance agent was isoflurane in dogs (43.5%) and ketamine in cats (37.3%). The anesthesia monitoring tools that are widely used were thermometers (89.6%) and pulse oximeters (38.8%). As conclusion, the majority of respondents were considered to have understood anesthesia management in accordance with recommendations, however, this understanding could be improved through continuing education.
