Abstract

This study examines the problems and effectiveness of implementing Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at MAN 01 Kotabumi. The urgency of this research lies in the persistent gap between PBL's theoretical promise and its practical execution in Islamic school contexts, particularly in regions with limited infrastructure. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through classroom observation, structured interviews with five PAI teachers, student questionnaires (n=120), and documentary analysis of learning outcomes over two academic semesters. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent t-tests, while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis. Findings reveal that student learning outcomes improved significantly (mean pre-test = 68.4; mean post-test = 81.7; t = 9.23; p < 0.001) when PBL was applied. However, five core problems were identified: (1) limited teacher readiness in constructing contextual problem scenarios, (2) time constraints in curriculum pacing, (3) inadequate digital infrastructure, (4) heterogeneous student prior knowledge, and (5) inconsistency in authentic assessment practices. The novelty of this research lies in its dual-focus framework that simultaneously maps the problematic dimensions and effectiveness indicators of PBL within PAI, providing an evidence-based model for Islamic school practitioners. This study contributes an original typology of PBL constraints specific to madrasah environments and recommends a contextual PBL adaptation protocol.

Abstract

Women with socio-economic vulnerabilities in pre-prosperous families are a group that is highly susceptible to various social problems due to limited economic resources, low access to information, and heavy family responsibilities. These conditions can affect a family's ability to plan family life effectively, including making informed decisions regarding family planning. This study aims to describe the social work intervention process for socio-economically vulnerable women in pre-prosperous families through family planning services at the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of North Sumatra Province. The study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during the field practicum. Case analysis was conducted using the Person-in-Environment (PIE) approach to understand the relationship between individual conditions and their social environment, as well as the Strengths Perspective to identify the client’s potential and strengths in addressing her problems. The findings indicate that the client’s primary issues were related to limited family economic conditions, insufficient understanding of family planning, and concerns about the use of contraceptive methods. Social work interventions were implemented through the stages of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and termination. The interventions included education, counseling, information dissemination, and motivational support. The results showed an improvement in the client’s understanding of the importance of family planning, the benefits of contraceptive use, and the relationship between family planning and family welfare.

Abstract

This study was designed to systematically analyze how stunting reduction programs in Serang are planned and implemented through regional development planning documents. The findings indicate that the implementation of stunting reduction programs in Serang City has been integrated into regional development planning documents, such as the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD), Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD), Strategic Plans (Renstra), and Annual Work Plans (Renja) of regional government agencies. This integration demonstrates that stunting has been positioned as a regional development agenda rather than merely a health sector issue. However, its implementation continues to face challenges related to inter-agency coordination, data quality, human resource capacity, budget effectiveness, and community participation. Therefore, the success of stunting reduction programs in Serang City depends not only on the availability of planning documents but also on the consistency of implementation, cross-sectoral coordination, and the local government's ability to adapt programs to community needs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) method in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects to improve student activeness through a literature study approach. The literature review was conducted by examining various scientific sources, including national and international journal articles, reference books, seminar proceedings, and relevant educational policy documents published between 2010 and 2024. The results of the literature review indicate that PjBL is a project-based learning method that positions students as active subjects in the process of knowledge construction through authentic project work related to real-world problems. The application of PjBL in PAI learning has been shown to significantly promote student activeness, as reflected in increased involvement in discussions, critical thinking skills, creativity, and a sense of responsibility. Islamic values such as ta'awun (cooperation), amanah (trustworthiness), and mujahadah (striving) can be organically integrated into each phase of the project, making PAI learning not only academically meaningful but also transformative in terms of spirituality and character. Key success factors for implementation include teacher competence in designing contextual projects, learning facility support, and a conducive school climate. The study concludes that PjBL is worthy of being one of the innovative, student-centered alternative methods in PAI learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of student learning motivation in the Natural and Social Science (IPAS) subject on plant material through the application of Kokami (Mystery Card Box) media in Grade IV of SD Plus Melati Samarinda. Low student motivation, characterized by passive attitudes, inattentiveness, and easy boredom, formed the basis for conducting this research. The method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model comprising four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting, conducted over two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 25 Grade IV students. Data collection instruments included student motivation observation sheets and teacher activity observation sheets. Data were analyzed using a percentage formula. The findings reveal a significant improvement in learning motivation: at the pre-cycle stage, the average percentage was only 35.3% (low category), rising to 70% in Cycle I (good category), and reaching 90% in Cycle II (very good category). All learning motivation indicators surpassed the minimum success threshold of 80%, confirming the success of this research. Kokami media proved effective in creating an interactive, enjoyable, and challenging learning atmosphere for elementary school students.

Abstract

This study examines the role and position of teachers from the perspective of Islamic law. It is a literature-based study that relies primarily on library sources as its main data. The analytical method employed follows the framework of library research using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings indicate that the concept of a teacher in the Islamic perspective has a broad and profound meaning. A teacher is not merely a transmitter of knowledge but also an educator responsible for shaping students’ character, morals, and spirituality. Teachers are understood as professionals whose duties include educating, guiding, directing, and developing the full potential of learners in a holistic manner, encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. In the context of Islamic education, the term “teacher” encompasses various dimensions, such as murabbi (nurturer), mu’allim (instructor), mu’addib (cultivator of good manners and ethics), mudarris (teacher), mursyid (guide), and muzakki (purifier), each reflecting a comprehensive role in the educational process, ranging from the transmission of knowledge to the development of moral character and spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of microteaching in developing the basic teaching skills of prospective Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers. Microteaching is a teaching training method designed to help prospective Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher candidates practice their teaching skills in a gradual, systematic, and focused manner. This study employed qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation of prospective Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher candidates participating in microteaching activities. The results indicate that microteaching plays a significant role in improving basic teaching skills, such as opening and closing lessons, explaining material, asking questions, managing the classroom, using learning media, and establishing effective communication with students. Furthermore, microteaching also helps students increase their self-confidence, critical thinking skills, and readiness for direct teaching practice in schools. Thus, microteaching is an effective tool for optimally and professionally developing the pedagogical competence of prospective Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the values of justice and the psychological impact of human rights violations as represented in the Indonesian version of the film Miracle in Cell No. 7. The film clearly depicts the systemic legal injustice faced by the protagonist, a father struggling with intellectual challenges, who becomes a victim of a biased and unfair legal system. This study uses a qualitative framework, utilizing content analysis techniques. The subjects of this study include the main character and his son, while the objects of the study are scenes, dialogues, and interactions that demonstrate values of justice, human rights violations, and psychological impacts. Data collection techniques were carried out through repeated observation of the film and literature study, while data analysis was carried out by grouping the findings into relevant themes. The results show that the film Miracle in Cell No. 7 represents the weak enforcement of legal justice, violations of the right to fair treatment, and discrimination against vulnerable groups. These violations of rights have an impact on the psychological condition of the main character in the form of trauma, anxiety, and emotional pressure, as well as causing emotional disturbances and a sense of loss in his son. This film is relevant for use as a medium for reflection in Civic Education to instill the values of justice, humanity, and the protection of human rights.
