Abstract

The advancement of information technology has driven significant transformation in administrative systems within higher education institutions, including the management of student attendance. Manual attendance systems still used by some institutions have several fundamental weaknesses, such as susceptibility to recording errors (human error), potential for data manipulation, slow recapitulation processes, and overall inefficiency in information management. Therefore, a digital-based solution capable of automating the recording and management of attendance data is needed. This study aims to design and implement a database for a digital-based student attendance information system to improve efficiency, accuracy, and integrity in academic data management. The research methods employed include system requirements analysis, Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) design as a conceptual representation of the database, and table normalization up to the third normal form (3NF). The results indicate that the designed database system is capable of integrating all major data entities, namely student data, lecturer data, courses, class schedules, and attendance records, in a structured and relational manner. The implementation of this database system facilitates data management, improves information access speed, and minimizes recording errors that have long been a weakness of manual systems.

Abstract

This research analyzes the role of the Indonesian National Football Team as a soft power instrument in national sports policy. Utilizing Joseph Nye's theoretical framework of soft power, this qualitative study with a library research approach examines various programs and policies implemented by PSSI and the Indonesian government from the post-FIFA suspension in 2015 to the Erick Thohir leadership period. The findings indicate that football has transformed into an effective public diplomacy tool through three main pathways: enhancing national team performance through the naturalization of diaspora players of Indonesian descent, hosting international events such as the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023, and developing sports infrastructure integrated with the National Sports Grand Design (Desain Besar Olahraga Nasional/DBON) policy. This study finds that the diaspora naturalization policy produces a dual impact: on one hand, it improves team competitiveness and fosters an inclusive image, while on the other hand, it triggers contestation over national identity. The contribution of this research is to present a strategic mapping of football utilization as soft power within the holistic framework of Indonesian national sports policy.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of Debt Trap Diplomacy in Sri Lanka as a manifestation of economic statecraft within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as well as its implications for the country's sovereignty and traditional security. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach through a case study of the acquisition of Hambantota Port, drawing upon Kenneth Waltz's neorealist theory as the primary analytical framework, supplemented by the concepts of geoeconomics and traditional security. The findings indicate that China's involvement in Sri Lanka through BRI infrastructure financing mechanisms gradually created a structure of economic dependency, culminating in the transfer of control over Hambantota Port through a 99-year lease agreement to the Chinese state-owned enterprise China Merchants Port Holdings in 2017. Although empirical evidence suggests that Sri Lanka's debt crisis was also driven by domestic governance failures and fiscal mismanagement, the transfer of control over this strategic maritime infrastructure has generated significant security implications, both for Sri Lanka and for the broader stability of the Indian Ocean region. From a neorealist perspective, this phenomenon reflects China's systematic efforts to address its strategic vulnerabilities through the projection of non-military power, while also demonstrating that, in the modern era, the erosion of territorial sovereignty can occur through economic instruments without the need for armed confrontation.

Abstract

The global energy crisis resulting from disruptions in international energy supply chains has intensified states’ concerns regarding energy security and access to strategic natural resources. This study examines the implications of the global energy crisis triggered by restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz on the Ambalat Block dispute between Indonesia and Malaysia and its potential impact on regional security in Southeast Asia. Employing a qualitative research method with a library research approach, this study draws upon academic literature, government documents, international organization reports, and relevant policy publications. The analysis is conducted through the lens of realism, which emphasizes the role of states as rational actors pursuing national interests and security within a competitive international system. The findings indicate that the global energy crisis has increased the strategic significance of the Ambalat Block due to its substantial oil and gas reserves. Under these circumstances, Indonesia and Malaysia have sought to promote cooperation through a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) as a pragmatic mechanism to manage overlapping claims while enhancing energy security and maintaining bilateral stability. Nevertheless, the implementation of the JDA continues to face challenges, including legal uncertainty, jurisdictional ambiguities, environmental concerns, and domestic political pressures that may affect the sustainability of the arrangement. This study concludes that the global energy crisis extends beyond economic consequences and has the potential to reshape patterns of conflict and cooperation in strategically important maritime regions such as Ambalat.

Abstract

Islamic law serves as a comprehensive guide for Muslims, derived from the divine revelation of Allah SWT, and regulates various aspects of human life, including the relationship between humans and God as well as interactions among individuals. This study aims to examine the agreed-upon sources of Islamic law (dalil syar'i) recognized by the majority of Islamic scholars, namely the Qur'an, Sunnah, Ijma' (consensus), and Qiyas (analogical reasoning), along with their positions, functions, and roles in the process of istinbath al-ahkam (legal deduction). This research employs a library research method using a descriptive qualitative approach through the analysis of relevant literature on ushul al-fiqh and the sources of Islamic law. The findings indicate that the Qur'an is the primary and highest source of Islamic law, serving as the foundation of all legal rulings. The Sunnah functions as an explanation, elaboration, and complement to the Qur'an. Ijma' provides a legal basis through the consensus of qualified Muslim jurists on issues not explicitly addressed in the primary texts, while Qiyas serves as a method of analogical reasoning to determine legal rulings for new issues based on a shared effective cause ('illah) with existing cases. These four sources complement one another in establishing a systematic, comprehensive, and adaptable Islamic legal system capable of addressing contemporary issues while remaining consistent with the principles of Islamic law.

Abstract

The rise of social media has fundamentally shifted conventional diplomatic practices into the digital realm, giving birth to the phenomenon known as Twiplomacy. During his presidency (2017–2021), Donald Trump transformed platform X (formerly Twitter) into his primary diplomatic instrument through the @realDonaldTrump account, creating a major paradox: while Twiplomacy expanded the reach of real-time foreign policy communication, Trump's habitual oversharing and impulsive social media behavior systematically generated vulnerabilities in the United States' digital security posture. This article analyzes that paradox by identifying three primary risk dimensions arising from Trump's Twiplomacy activities: (1) leakage of classified state intelligence, (2) destabilization of global financial markets, and (3) escalation of diplomatic and military conflicts. The study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical method grounded in a literature review approach, underpinned by securitization theory and digital security frameworks. The findings demonstrate that a head of state's digital communications when not balanced with rigorous cybersecurity protocols can transform from a soft power instrument into a genuine threat vector against national security stability.

Abstract

Health services, as part of public services, are the state's responsibility to ensure the fulfillment of citizens' basic rights through the BPJS Kesehatan program to realize equitable and just access to health care. However, in practice in government hospitals, there is still a perception of differences in service quality between BPJS and non-BPJS patients, particularly in waiting times, administrative procedures, and the attitudes of health workers. This study aims to examine the gap in health service quality based on the SERVQUAL theory, which includes tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, and examine its implications for the principle of public service fairness. The approach used in this study is qualitative with a literature study method, where data is collected from various sources such as scientific journals, books, scientific articles, and documents related to health services. The results of the study indicate that although service standards normatively do not differentiate between types of participants, in implementation, service disparities are still found that have the potential to hinder distributive justice and equal access to health services. Therefore, strategic steps are needed in the form of strengthening oversight mechanisms, increasing human resource capacity, and commitment to the principles of good governance to realize equitable and non-discriminatory health services.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the fact that some seventh-grade female students still experienced difficulties in reading the Qur’an, particularly in the aspects of correct pronunciation (makharij al-huruf), application of tajwid rules, fluency, and reading accuracy. In the learning process at Darut Tafsir Islamic Boarding School, the Drill & practice method had been implemented in Qur’an reading instruction; however, its implementation had not been carried out consistently. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the Drill & practicemethod, identify the Qur’an reading ability of the students, and analyze the influence of the Drill & practicemethod on the Qur’an reading ability of seventh-grade female students at Darut Tafsir Islamic Boarding School. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, Qur’an reading tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the Drill & practice method was categorized as fairly good, with a mean score of 65.31. Meanwhile, the students’ Qur’an reading ability was categorized as high, with a mean score of 89.02. The difference between these categories indicates that Qur’an reading ability is influenced not only by the implementation of the Drill & practicemethod but also by other factors, such as habituation to Qur’an reading within the boarding school environment, learning motivation, and guidance provided by teachers. The regression analysis revealed a positive and significant influence of the Drill & practicemethod on the students’ Qur’an reading ability, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.907 indicated a very strong relationship, while the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.822 showed that the Drill & practice method contributed 82.2% to the students’ Qur’an reading ability, whereas the remaining 17.8% was influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study.

Abstract

Heavy metal pollution, particularly lead (Pb), is one of the most serious environmental problems resulting from industrial activities, mining, and domestic waste. Lead is toxic, persistent, and readily accumulates in river sediments, posing significant risks to ecosystem stability and human health. One of the most effective, economical, and environmentally friendly methods for addressing this pollution is bioremediation using indigenous bacteria that have naturally adapted to contaminated environments. This study aims to evaluate the potential of lead-resistant bacteria isolated from contaminated river sediments as bioremediation agents through a literature review approach. A systematic literature search was conducted using the Google Scholar, PubMed, NCBI, and Elsevier databases, focusing on articles published between 2020 and 2026. A total of ten articles meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed descriptively. The review findings indicate that bacteria belonging to the genera Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Micrococcus, Klebsiella, Acinetobacter, Serratia, Raoultella, Aeromonas, and Moraxella possess resistance to heavy metals through mechanisms such as biosorption, bioaccumulation, biofilm formation, exopolysaccharide production, and cellular detoxification systems. Several studies reported remarkably high Pb removal efficiencies, ranging from 80% to 99.99%, with bacterial growth maintained in media containing lead concentrations of up to 100 ppm. Among these, the genera Bacillus and Pseudomonas were the most frequently identified and demonstrated the greatest potential as bioremediation agents.
