Abstract

The epistemological crisis in contemporary Islamic theological studies is marked by the dominance of normative-dogmatic theology detached from social reality, resulting in the privatization of spirituality, fragmentation of public ethics, and theology’s inability to respond to problems of injustice, economic dehumanization, and the degradation of political ethics. Amid this situation, there exists a research gap in the absence of a theological framework capable of integrating spiritual, psychological, and social dimensions holistically. Islamic theological literature—both classical and contemporary—has rarely elaborated the relationship between transformative theology and an integrative tawhid-based counseling approach, even though this approach offers significant potential to renew the way society understands and practices religiosity. This study develops a framework of Transformative Islamic Theology through an Integrative-Holistic Tawhid approach by combining theological analysis, practical philosophy, and perspectives from spiritual psychology. The method employed is a conceptual-critical study using hermeneutic and constructive analysis of primary literature and recent scholarly works. This article argues that tawhid, when defined as an awareness of ontological and ethical unity, is not merely the foundation of individual faith, but also a practical force that shapes social ethics, political behavior, and justice-oriented economic orientation.

Abstract

In their final semesters, university students often face significant academic pressure, particularly during the process of writing their final assignments or theses. This prolonged pressure can often trigger stressful conditions that negatively impact their psychological well-being. This study aims to examine the effect of final assignment workload on the mental health conditions of final-semester students at the University of Palangka Raya. The research method utilized is a descriptive and causal quantitative approach. Data collection techniques involved structural questionnaires using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and Self-Rating Questionnaire (SRQ-20) distributed online via Google Forms to final-semester students. The results of the simple linear regression analysis confirmed that the final assignment process had a significant negative effect on student mental health, characterized by academic burnout, massive anxiety, and mild depressive symptoms caused by extensive revisions and post-graduation anxiety. This study provides a comprehensive overview to serve as an institutional evaluation base for enhancing campus psychological support systems.

Abstract

The shift in learning evaluation from conventional methods toward more dynamic instruments has become increasingly important in contemporary education. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using TikTok educational content as an adaptive and non-monotonous learning evaluation instrument. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The findings indicate that TikTok functions not only as a medium for delivering learning materials but also as an authentic assessment tool capable of enhancing students' creativity and engagement. The characteristics of short-form videos, editing features, and visual elements make TikTok an instrument that is highly adaptable to the learning styles of Generation Z students, thereby reducing boredom in formal evaluation processes.

Abstract

Historically, bioterrorism has been framed as a form of violence with mass casualty associated with state-level actors, advanced laboratory infrastructure, and use of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). However, with rapid developments in biotechnology, and open-access scientific knowledge have fundamentally transformed the landscape of this threat. This article argues that bioterrorism has gone through a structural transformation from a state-centric, centralized, WMD paradigm toward a more decentralized, individually based form and conceptualised in this article as micro-bioterrorism. Through comparative case study analysis spanning from the 1984 Rajneeshee salmonella attack, the 1993-1995 Aum Shinrikyo biological weapons program, the 2001 United States anthrax attacks, and recent contemporary individual-actor incidents such as the 2018 Cologne incident and the 2020 Ricin attack attempt targeting the White House, this article examines the mechanisms factoring this transformation. Ricin emerges as a recurring indicator of this shift due to its accessibility and the widespread availability of operational knowledge. Through Critical Security Studies (CSS) and Michel Foucault’s Biopolitics this article will evaluate its theoretical foundations, and the limitations of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) in addressing non-state, individual actor threats. This article concludes that existing biosecurity governance frameworks remain structurally misaligned with the decentralized nature of contemporary biological threats, requiring a fundamental reconceptualization of biosecurity surveillance, governance architecture, and international cooperation.

Abstract

The tofu industry is one of the business sectors that has developed rapidly in Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency, particularly in Ngumpul Village, Sumbermulyo Village, and Mayangan Village. However, tofu production activities generate wastewater containing high levels of organic matter, which has the potential to pollute water bodies if discharged without proper treatment. This study aimed to determine water quality and analyze the level of pollution caused by tofu industry wastewater in the Ngumpul Village River, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method using a purposive sampling technique at three observation points: B1 (500 m upstream from the wastewater discharge point), B2 (at the wastewater discharge point), and B3 (900 m downstream from the discharge point). The parameters analyzed included Total Suspended Solids (TSS), pH, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The pollution level was determined using the Pollution Index (PI) method based on Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 and the Decree of the Minister of Environment Number 115 of 2003. The results showed that water quality at point B1 still met the established quality standards, with a PI value of 0.99 (good category). At point B2, a significant increase in pollution was observed, with a PI value of 28.52 (heavily polluted category), while point B3 indicated a natural recovery process of the river but remained in the heavily polluted category, with a PI value of 10.59. These findings indicate that wastewater from the tofu industry has a significant impact on the decline of river water quality, particularly in the BOD, COD, TSS, and pH parameters. The impacts may disrupt aquatic ecosystems, agricultural activities, and public health. Therefore, more effective wastewater management is required through the construction of Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs), regular water quality monitoring, and increased environmental awareness among tofu industry operators.

Abstract

This study discusses the social construction of society toward former narcotics abusers in Wates Urban Village, Mojokerto City. The problem of narcotics abuse not only affects legal and health aspects but also gives rise to social stigma that hinders the rehabilitation process and social reintegration of former abusers. This research aims to understand how society’s social construction toward former narcotics abusers is formed and to analyze the factors influencing it. The study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the residents of Wates Urban Village, former narcotics abusers, community leaders, and officers of the Mojokerto City National Narcotics Agency (BNN). Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using the social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann. The results of the study indicate that society still constructs negative stigma toward former narcotics abusers through the processes of externalization, objectification, and internalization. Labels such as “criminal” and “social threat” create difficulties in obtaining employment, social acceptance, and environmental support. However, the Community-Based Intervention (CBI) program has begun to encourage changes in public perception, making society more supportive of the rehabilitation process. This study concludes that community social support plays an important role in the successful social reintegration of former narcotics abusers.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (PAUD) is a crucial stage in establishing the foundation for child development. The quality of education at this stage is greatly influenced by teacher competence in designing and implementing learning that is appropriate to the characteristics of child development. However, in practice, many PAUD institutions still face various problems related to teacher competence, such as low academic qualifications, lack of professional training, and minimal management support for human resource development. This study aims to identify problems with PAUD teacher competence and formulate solutions through education and training programs. The method used in this research is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained from various literature sources such as scientific journals, educational books, and relevant research reports. The results of the study indicate that the low competence of PAUD teachers is influenced by several key factors: inadequate academic qualifications, limited opportunities for professional training, and a lack of ongoing competency development programs. Therefore, planned and systematic education and training management is needed to improve teacher competence and improve the quality of learning in PAUD institutions.
