Abstract

Background: This research is motivated by the low adoption rate of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based information systems in the insurance claim process, particularly Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS), even though these systems are designed to improve efficiency and consistency in decision-making. The main problems lie in the lack of user trust, limited training, and the role of leadership in supporting digital transformation. Objective: Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors influencing the intention to use insurance claim information systems using a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach, expanded with the variables of Trust, Transformational Leadership, and Training. Methods: This research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method targeting Claim Adjusters at the insurance company under study. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using a structural model to test the relationships between variables, including Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Trust, Transformational Leadership, Training, Intention to Use, and Actual System Usage. Results: The results show that Transformational Leadership positively affects Trust, Trust significantly affects Intention to Use, and Training affects Perceived Ease of Use. Furthermore, Perceived Ease of Use influences Perceived Usefulness, which ultimately impacts Intention to Use and the actual usage of the system. These findings confirm that human and organizational factors play a crucial role in the successful implementation of technology, in addition to the technical factors of the system itself. Conclusion: In conclusion, the successful adoption of AI-based information systems in the insurance industry is determined not only by technological sophistication but also by the level of user trust, the effectiveness of training, and the support of transformational leadership.

Abstract

Background: … Objective: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) authority in enhancing accountability within the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta. Methods: The research employs a qualitative approach using normative-institutional analysis and public policy review. Data were examined through document analysis, APIP capability reports, SPIP maturity evaluations, and recent academic literature. Results: The findings reveal that the effectiveness of APIP authority is not solely determined by regulatory power, but by institutional capacity, auditor independence, leadership commitment, SPIP maturity, and risk-based supervisory integration. Although APIP authority in Jakarta is normatively adequate, its implementation faces structural challenges, including limited human resources, bureaucratic intervention, and weak follow-up on audit recommendations. Strengthening APIP capability to Level 3 and above, transforming supervisory culture, and implementing digital internal audit systems are key determinants of sustainable public accountability improvement. Conclusion: The study concludes that internal oversight reform must be oriented toward integrity-based governance and risk management frameworks.

Abstract

Background: Information systems are core components impacting the continuity of organizational leadership and management, especially for organizations whose daily operational activities rely heavily on technology. The performance of IT services needs to be measured in a systematic and reliable way so that these services can always meet the expectations of users. Objectives: This study aims to measure and improve the effectiveness and process improvement of IT Service Desk and IT End User Computing units through the implementation of ITIL 4. Methods: Qualitative case study using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) framework. The data collection methods employed for this phase consisted of primary sources (structured interviews with 100 respondents at 4 different divisions as well as direct field observations) and secondary sources (operational reports from ServiceNow ticketing system, service delivery, roles and assessment tools spanning January–December 2023). The methodology functions as a never-ending improvement loop. ITIL 4 practices are adopted in parallel to strengthen service management maturity and operational efficiency. Results: We present three frameworks that together provide a structured approach to designing, identifying gaps in, and improving aspects of service delivery processes. Findings show that ITIL-led initiatives have a positive impact on resolving Incidents faster, moving IT Service Desk maturity from Level 4 to Level 5 at "Fully Comply" for the Purpose/Content. Conclusion: The study highlights that aligning IT services with business objectives, strengthening governance structures, and developing a sustainable improvement culture within the organization are of strategic value for companies.

Abstract

Background: Along with the rapid development of information technology and digitalization, organizations increasingly rely on personal data to support business operations. This reliance also increases the potential risk of data leakage, misuse, and complex cyber-attacks, prompting the Indonesian government to enact Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (PDP Law). PT XYZ, as a consulting company, faces serious challenges in implementing this regulation, ranging from the vulnerability of information technology infrastructure, the absence of appropriate internal policies, to the low understanding of human resources on data protection practices. Objective: This research aims to develop internal policies related to personal data management in accordance with the data protection principles of the PDP Law, as well as identify and analyze information technology security risks to formulate mitigation strategies using the ISO 31000:2018 approach Methods: The methodology used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through document studies, surveys of employees from various divisions, and direct observation of the current information technology security infrastructure and procedures Results: The results showed that the company did not have a systematic risk management, the security system still had many gaps such as not using layered authentication or a comprehensive encryption system, and more than half of the employees did not understand the basic principles of the PDP Law Conclusion: Based on these findings, a mitigation strategy was developed in the form of internal policies governing personal data governance, strengthening IT security systems through encryption technology and role-based access control, and regular training to increase employee awareness. The implementation of this strategy is expected to improve compliance with the PDP Law, avoid administrative sanctions up to a fine of 2% of revenue, and build public trust through safe and reliable personal data management.

Abstract

Background: The escalation of armed conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel since February 2026 has triggered massive disruptions in global supply chains, acutely manifesting in a naphtha crisis, the primary raw material for the plastic packaging industry. As a country that imports approximately 60–70% of its naphtha requirements from the Middle East, Indonesia faces extreme price volatility and supply uncertainty that threatens national manufacturing stability. Objective: This study aims to analyze the impact of such geopolitical disruptions on the supply chain resilience of the plastic packaging industry in Indonesia, focusing on crisis transmission through the naphtha supply route. Methods: The research methodology employed a qualitative case study approach through document analysis, in-depth interviews with industry stakeholders, and a comprehensive literature review. Results: Key findings indicate that companies implementing dynamic capabilities, specifically in the aspects of sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring, have demonstrated stronger and more adaptive mitigation responses compared to companies relying on a single sourcing strategy. The discussion highlights that operational flexibility and supplier diversification are critical determinants in maintaining production continuity. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of developing an adaptive geopolitical supply chain resilience framework for manufacturing industries in developing countries that have a high dependency on imported energy commodities.

Abstract

Background: The background of this research stems from the high number of accidents occurring on this road section, which endangers the safety of road users. Objective: This study aims to analyze traffic safety on two road sections with high accident rates, namely the Gading–Playen Road and the Yogyakarta–Barongan Road. Methods: The research methods employed include field surveys, collection of primary and secondary data, and statistical analysis using the CUSUM method and the V/C (volume-to-capacity) ratio. Results: The analysis revealed Gading–Playen Road section has a capacity of 3,354 pcu/hour with a V/C ratio of 0.196, indicating stable traffic conditions, while the Yogyakarta–Barongan Road section has a capacity of 3,444 pcu/hour with a V/C ratio of 0.771, reflecting near-saturated traffic conditions and a higher-risk situation. Z-score analysis of accident data from 2016 to 2019 showed a sharp spike on the Yogyakarta–Barongan section in the third period (z = +1.55), while the Gading–Playen section recorded a significant decline (z = −1.13). Accidents on both sections predominantly involve motorcycle users and male victims aged 16–25 years, and are primarily caused by undisciplined driving behavior. Key recommendations include geometric road improvements, installation of adequate traffic signs, improved road lighting, and strengthened enforcement of traffic regulations. Conclusion: The integration of CUSUM, Z score, and V/C ratio methods provides an effective framework for identifying and assessing traffic accident risks. The findings reveal distinct risk characteristics between road sections, requiring targeted interventions based on geometric conditions, traffic intensity, and behavioral factors.

Abstract

Background: In today’s digital era, information technology (IT) infrastructure is critical to organizational operations, making Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) essential for business continuity. Institutions managing strategic data assets, such as KNEKS, must address risks from disasters, cyberattacks, and infrastructure failures during PDES development. Objective: This study aims to identify KNEKS’s disaster recovery requirements under current and future PDES conditions and to develop a comprehensive DRP framework based on NIST SP 800-34. Methods: A qualitative case study approach was employed using NIST SP 800-34 Rev. 1 as the primary framework, complemented by FIPS 199, SNI ISO 31000, and NIST SP 800-53. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with IT managers and system administrators, supported by document analysis. Triangulation and member checking were used to ensure validity. Results: The assessment revealed significant gaps in disaster recovery readiness, particularly in formalized policies, technical redundancy, and impact analysis procedures. Based on these findings, a tailored DRP framework was developed, incorporating activation, recovery, and reconstitution phases while maintaining scalability for future PDES expansion. Conclusion: A comprehensive NIST SP 800-34-based DRP is essential to ensure KNEKS’s operational continuity. The proposed framework offers a structured and scalable approach to disaster recovery and provides a practical model for emerging public-sector, data-intensive institutions.

Abstract

Background: Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers are widely applied in coal-fired power plants due to their fuel flexibility and low emissions. The vortex finder, a key cyclone component, separates solid particles from flue gas and is prone to wear under high-temperature, erosive conditions. Objective: This study aims to identify failure characteristics, analyze the causes, and explain the failure mechanism of a 253MA vortex finder in a 2 × 100 MW CFB boiler at PLTU Sebalang after 6,548 operating hours at 850–950°C. Methods: A multi-method approach was employed, including visual inspection, positive material identification (PMI), tensile testing, microhardness testing, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis to assess mechanical and microstructural degradation. Results: The vortex finder exhibited plastic deformation, material thinning, and deposition of foreign refractory material. Tensile strength decreased from 723.89 MPa to 677.84 MPa (6.36%), elongation decreased from 58% to 53%, and hardness decreased from 218.84 HV to 210.21 HV. Microstructural changes included grain coarsening and carbide precipitation, while SEM-EDS revealed surface roughening, early microcrack initiation, and compositional changes indicative of high-temperature oxidation. XRD confirmed that the deposits consisted of alumina–silica refractory material. Conclusion: Failure resulted from a synergistic mechanism involving high-velocity particle erosion, refractory deposit accumulation, and progressive microstructural degradation. Crack initiation and propagation ultimately led to structural failure. Recommendations include implementing erosion control measures, maintaining refractory linings, applying more erosion-resistant coatings or alternative materials, and adopting condition-based inspection strategies to enhance component reliability.

Abstract

Background: Fuel quality and combustion characteristics are important factors that influence engine performance and fuel efficiency in spark-ignition engines. The use of fuel additives is one method commonly applied to improve combustion quality. Objective: This study evaluated the comparative effects of STP Octane Booster and Nitro Race additives on the engine performance and fuel consumption of a Honda Scoopy 110 cc motorcycle. Methods: A quantitative experimental method was employed using a 2022 Honda Scoopy 110 cc engine. Pertalite (RON 90) and Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) were blended with both additives at five concentration levels (5–25 ml/L). Performance parameters, including torque, power, fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption (SFC), and thermal efficiency, were measured using a chassis dynamometer. Results: Higher additive concentrations consistently increased torque and effective power while reducing fuel consumption and SFC. The combination of STP Octane Booster and Pertamax Turbo yielded the best overall performance among all tested mixtures. Conclusion: STP Octane Booster combined with high-octane fuel positively improved combustion quality and engine performance. These findings suggest that commercially available octane boosters can serve as a cost-effective approach to optimizing fuel efficiency in small motorcycle engines.

Abstract

Background: The main problem in cybersecurity risk management is that the risk identification process remains manual, time-consuming, and difficult to connect with technical detection results, business contexts, and information security standards. Objective: This study aims to develop a cybersecurity risk identification and management system based on the integration of machine learning and ontology using the ISO/IEC 27005:2022 approach. Methods: This study employed the Design Science Research (DSR) approach to design the Cyber Risk Intelligent System (CRIS). The system integrated machine learning algorithms, feature optimization, model interpretability, and cyber risk ontology. The classification model was developed using XGBoost with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)-based feature selection and was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Furthermore, an ISO/IEC 27005:2022-based ontology was used to map threats, vulnerabilities, impacts, and security control recommendations based on ISO/IEC 27002. Results: The results showed that the combination of XGBoost and PSO provided the best classification performance compared with other methods, achieving an F1-score of 0.9672, precision of 0.9661, recall of 0.9684, accuracy of 96.48%, and an ROC-AUC of 0.9891. The implementation of SHAP successfully improved model interpretability by identifying the dominant features that influenced cyber threat prediction. Ontology integration also enabled the risk identification and recommendation process to be carried out automatically, consistently, and in alignment with international standards. Conclusion: This study contributes to the development of an adaptive and structured cyber risk decision-support system that supports the automation of information security risk management in digital organizational environments.
