Abstract

This study investigates the effects of balanced nutritional intake on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Given the growing interest in the role of nutrition in managing autism symptoms, this research aims to explore how a well-rounded diet impacts behavioral, cognitive, and overall health outcomes in individuals with ASD. The study involved a group of participants who underwent a nutritional intervention designed to address common nutrient deficiencies, such as omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and zinc. Results indicated significant improvements in behavior, including reduced irritability, hyperactivity, and repetitive behaviors, as well as enhanced cognitive function, attention, and social interaction. Blood tests revealed that the correction of nutrient deficiencies contributed to these improvements. Despite the positive outcomes, variability in individual responses emphasized the need for personalized dietary interventions. This research contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the potential of nutrition as an adjunctive therapy for autism, while highlighting the importance of further studies on long-term effects, individualized approaches, and the integration of nutrition with other therapeutic strategies

Abstract

: Stunting remains a significant public health issue in many regions, particularly in rural areas like Karo Regency, Indonesia. This study aimed to explore the factors influencing the knowledge and motivation of health cadres in preventing stunting among children. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through surveys and interviews with health cadres, local health officials, and community leaders. The research identified critical gaps in the knowledge of health cadres regarding stunting prevention strategies, emphasizing the need for more localized, frequent, and tailored training programs. Additionally, the study found that health cadres were motivated by both intrinsic factors, such as personal commitment to the community, and extrinsic factors, including financial incentives and institutional support. The involvement of local community leaders in stunting prevention initiatives emerged as a crucial factor for success. However, barriers such as limited resources, financial constraints, and logistical challenges were found to hinder the effectiveness of these efforts. The findings suggest that addressing these gaps in knowledge, improving training and support systems, and fostering community collaboration are essential to enhancing stunting prevention programs in Karo Regency. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the factors influencing health cadres' effectiveness in stunting prevention and offers recommendations for improving public health strategies in the region.

Abstract

This research explores the antioxidant and fiber content of edamame pudding (Glycine max) and its potential health benefits, particularly in preventing hypercholesterolemia. Edamame, a rich source of antioxidants such as isoflavones and phenolic compounds, is known for its ability to combat oxidative stress and reduce cardiovascular risk. Additionally, its high fiber content, particularly soluble fiber, plays a significant role in lowering LDL cholesterol levels. This study analyzes the antioxidant levels and fiber content in edamame pudding and evaluates its potential to serve as a health-promoting snack. The findings highlight the pudding’s role in cholesterol management, heart disease prevention, and weight control. Edamame pudding offers a practical and nutritious alternative to traditional snacks, with the potential to support cardiovascular health. Recommendations for further research include long-term clinical trials to assess the sustained effects of edamame pudding on heart health and studies comparing its nutrient bioavailability to other health-promoting snacks.

According to World Health Organization data reports at least 839 million cases of hypertension, estimated to be 1.15 billion in 2025 or about 29% of the total world population, where sufferers are more in women (30%) than men (29%). Data in Indonesia shows that 25.8% of populations over the age of 18 are hypertension sufferers and from the provincial classification it is known that 26.4% are in Java. Objectives: This research aims to determine the effect of drinking cucumber juice on reducing hypertension. Method; This research was quantitative study using a pre-experimental design with one group pre-post test approach. This study used analytical survey research with cross sectional approach. Data collected using observation sheets. The populations were all menopausal mother amount 13 people and all were sampled (total population). Data analysis used Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed differences in the average value of hypertension reduction before and after cucumber juice was given, from 30.8 to 92.3. Wilcoxon test results obtained A-Asymp Sig (2-tailed) value was p=.005 (<.050). Conclusion: The conclusion shows that there is an effect of drinking cucumber juice on reducing hypertension. Suggestion for respondents to increase their knowledge in managing hypertension using non-pharmacology, for institutions to add information on the benefits of cucumber juice in reducing hypertension, and for further researchers to develop it further.

Abstract

Infectious diseases are diseases caused by the entry and growth of microorganisms, one of which is pathogenic bacteria (Novard et al., 2019). High use of antibiotics for infectious diseases increases the risk of irrational antibiotic use which can result in the therapeutic goal not being achieved. This study aims to determine based on patient characteristics, the profile of antibiotic use in hospitalized patients at RSU. HKBP Balige and the quantity of antibiotic use in DDD units. This study is observational (non-experimental) which was conducted retrospectively using data obtained from the Hospital Information System (SIRS) for the period January-April 2024 in the form of drug names, dosage forms, dosage strengths, quantity of use, number of hospitalized patients per month, length of hospitalization. Data analysis in this study used the quantitative Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) / Defined Daily Dose (DDD) and Drug Utilization 90% (DU90%) methods. The results of the study showed that there were 2 types of antibiotics used in dengue fever patients during 2024 with an average total usage value of 280.07 DDD/100 HR. The most widely used types of antibiotics were cefixime (66.70%) and cefotaxime (33.30%), and the most common route of antibiotic administration was intravenous, and the most frequent duration of antibiotic therapy was <3 days (85.71%).

Abstract

Dermoid cysts are congenital, benign lesions that originate from ectodermal inclusions during embryogenesis and are most often encountered in the scalp and intracranial regions. While their clinical course is generally indolent, malignant transformation is an exceptionally rare phenomenon, with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) being the most frequently reported histologic subtype. Such transformation is clinically significant, as it alters the otherwise benign natural history of dermoid cysts into a locally aggressive neoplasm capable of extensive tissue invasion. We report a rare case of a dermoid cyst undergoing malignant degeneration into SCC with associated calvarial bone destruction. This case highlights the importance of recognizing atypical clinical presentations and radiologic findings that may suggest malignant change. The clinical manifestations, radiographic characteristics, surgical approach, histopathological confirmation, and postoperative course are presented, followed by a review of the relevant literature to contextualize this uncommon entity and its therapeutic implications.
