Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of social media usage on the presence of insecurity among its users. In this digital era, social media has become a part of daily life, providing a platform for communication, information sharing, and social connections. However, excessive usage can have negative impacts on individuals' mental well-being, one of which is the presence of insecurity. This study utilizes an analytical approach to identify factors contributing to the existence of insecurity among social media users. The research methods employed include literature review and qualitative data analysis. The analysis results indicate that intensive social media usage and excessive focus on social comparisons can increase individuals' tendency to feel insecure. Continuous exposure to idealized portrayals of others' lives on social media can also lead to dissatisfaction with oneself and reinforce feelings of insecurity. Furthermore, the perception of social validation obtained from online interactions can create pressure and increase the need for validation from others, consequently amplifying the presence of insecurity.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the public relations management carried out in the effort to handle Covid-19 at SPBU 142051135 Jalan Pantai Labu Lubuk Pakam. It adopts a qualitative descriptive approach and refers to Dozier & Broom's theory (1995). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages. The study provides an understanding of public relations management practices that can serve as a reference for similar organizations in facing crisis situations like the Covid-19 pandemic. The findings of this research are expected to offer valuable insights for the development of effective public relations management strategies to address similar challenges in the future. The results of the research indicate that the public relations management implemented at SPBU 142051135 Jalan Pantai Labu Lubuk Pakam in handling Covid-19 has effectively implemented various policies to minimize the spread of the virus. These efforts include distributing masks to visitors and implementing strict health protocols with the support of the local police.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the role of public relations management in promoting the integrity of SMK Tritech Informatika to the community in Medan City. A qualitative descriptive research method was employed, utilizing The Excellence Theory as the theoretical framework. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of the study indicate that there are three steps that should be undertaken by public relations management to promote the school's integrity, namely understanding the internal and external conditions of the school, improving the physical and non-physical aspects of the school, and introducing the school to the community while establishing collaborations with relevant institutions. These findings have significant implications for the development of effective public relations management strategies in enhancing the school's image and reputation in the eyes of the public. It is expected that the results of this research will contribute to the understanding and practice of educational public relations management and serve as a reference for other schools in enhancing integrity and fostering positive relationships with the surrounding community.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the marketing communication strategies used by the Instagram account @adekdekorasi_medan to attract customers. It employs a qualitative descriptive research method and applies the marketing mix theory. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results reveal that @adekdekorasi_medan employs various marketing communication strategies on Instagram, such as online promotion, endorsements, enhancing the visual presentation of the account, and offering promotions. These strategies help attract and retain potential customers. Despite the fierce competition in the social media decoration services industry, @adekdekorasi_medan has managed to maintain its presence since 2000

Abstract

Film Perburuan is a film adapted from the novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer titled Perburuan. The film portrays the background and conditions of Indonesia during the struggle for independence, depicting the PETA (Defenders of the Homeland) forces when they were cornered while facing the Japanese army. Richard, the screenplay writer, added a story element to the film by providing a depiction of events six months prior to the original story, focusing on the character of Hardo. Research results show that Film Perburuan, in various ways understood by researchers using the construction theory and semiotic analysis approach of Roland Barthes, has six scenes that demonstrate the function of actors, with 20 functions depicting the meaning of struggle out of 31 functions of actors. There are eight opposing characters that represent the characters of goodness and evil based on the characters in the film, and within the seven character functions, there are only six characters in Film Perburuan. In Film Perburuan, this is achieved by using the stages of denotation and connotation. The denotation stage represents the literal meaning or what happens in the scene, while the connotation stage represents the meaning used to interpret the hidden meanings present in each scene.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the marketing communication strategy of SMA Harapan 3 Medan in getting new students during the Covid - 19 pandemic. Education is not as difficult as now because there are no obstacles to direct learning and there are no difficulties in attracting the attention of prospective new students. This happened before the era of the Covid 19 epidemic. On the other hand, this didn't really affect Harapan 3 Medan High School because they kept doing what they were doing and acted as if nothing had changed. During the Covid 19 outbreak, there were a few setbacks, but they were easy to manage and didn't present much of a challenge. We now welcome new students. In the midst of the Covid 19 outbreak, this study aims to evaluate how successful the marketing communication approach of SMA Negeri 3 Medan Harapan is in attracting new students. AIDA theory is used by many scientific communities (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action). This study uses qualitative research and data analysis techniques purposive sampling. Purposive sampling is a sampling approach in which a sample is collected from a community based on certain criteria, and this research uses this methodology. Based on the research conclusions, the marketing communication strategy developed by Harapan 3 Medan High School to recruit new students during the pandemic should welcome new students online by utilizing existing social media.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the framing of the Motorboat (KM) Sinar Bangun accident news in the daily newspaper Analisa. The research objective is to understand how Analisa daily frames the Motorboat (KM) Sinar Bangun accident news. The theory used to delve into this research is the Mass Media Social Construction Theory, Framing Analysis, News, and Shoemaker and Reese's Theory. The research subject consists of six news articles in the Analisa daily newspaper from June 20, 2018, to July 4, 2018. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm. The analysis technique employed is the framing analysis model by Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. The results of the research indicate that Analisa daily frames the Motorboat (KM) Sinar Bangun accident news as information that must be known by the community in the city of Medan. This research also shows that the government and the ship management should conduct a serious evaluation to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the communication strategies implemented by Tengku Achmad Thala'a during his tenure as a member of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Deli Serdang. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study approach, where data was obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and analysis of relevant documents. The results of the study indicate that Tengku Achmad Thala'a implemented various effective communication strategies in performing his duties and functions. These strategies include the use of social media for direct interaction with constituents, organizing discussion forums and policy socialization at the local level, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance transparency and public participation. Additionally, good interpersonal communication skills and an inclusive approach to absorbing community aspirations were key to building harmonious relationships with various parties. This research concludes that appropriate and effective communication strategies play a significant role in improving the performance and credibility of a DPRD member in the public eye.

Abstract

The research is titled, "The Use of Social Media by Village Government in the Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign in Bulu Cina Village, Hamparan Perak Subdistrict," aimed at understanding the utilization and effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign through social media in Bulu Cina village. The study employs the use and effect theory, utilizing a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that the social media used by the village government in Bulu Cina has not been effective in delivering the Covid-19 vaccination campaign. The ineffectiveness is attributed to several external and internal obstacles that hinder the optimal dissemination of the campaign message to the Bulu Cina community. The village government needs to pay attention to certain aspects when delivering campaign messages through social media, and the residents of Bulu Cina village also need to improve their use of social media.

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the dynamics of internal communication, communication strategies, and obstacles faced by the Geonusantara Community in conveying photography information through social media platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp groups. This research adopts the theory of group cohesiveness, emphasizing personality traits as the foundation of group strength. The research method employed is qualitative and descriptive, with data collection techniques involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentary studies. Respondents include the founder, chairman, central administrator, creative team, and members of the Geonusantara Community. The research findings indicate that the internal communication process and communication strategies within this community adopt a two-way communication model. Additionally, internal communication obstacles were identified, such as differences in perception and seniority attitudes among members. This study provides profound insights into the dynamics of visual communication within the Geonusantara photography community.
