Abstract

School is a place for learning and teaching process. Availability facilities and students interaction with all components of the school have an important role in the implementation of educational process. According to Baron and Kenny (1986), school climate affects students’ achievement motivation. Therefore, school must provide a school climate to get optimal learning outcomes. In reality, there is a lack of school which can provide that and can help their students in learning process, but their students have achievements. This phenomenon appears in Bandung X Elementary School. This research aimed to find out the strength of correlation between students’ perceptions on school climate and their achievement motivation in 5th grade who have achieved in SD X Bandung which has a poor school climate. This study will employ quantitative correlation design. The subject of this study is a population of 52 achiever students in 5th grade SD X. The instrument use to gather data for the first variable (students’ perceptions on school climate) will be questionnaire from Freidberg (1999) which was modified by the researcher and questionnaire of achievement motivation which was constructed according to the achievement motivation theory from Hermans (1967). The result of this study shows that there was correlation of rs= 0,697 that according to Guilford table, this score is entered into the moderate correlation. It means, there is a positive correlation between students’ perceptions on school climate and their achievement motivation. In addition, this study shows that there are several factors that influence the students’ perception on poor school climate, which is family background such as economic status, parents’ educational level, working parents, home environment experiences and patterns of parenting. Despite this school has a poor school climate, students who have achievement more focused on their achieved and achievement motivation rather than focusing on how the climate in their school.

Abstract

Penelitian korelasional ini dilakukan terhadap populasi 18 orang pengajar bimbingan belajar Villa Merah. Persoalan yang muncul bersumber dari tingginya tingkat turn over yang terjadi pada umumnya pengajar, namun demikian masih ada sebagian kecil yang tetap menunjukkan loyalitas dan komitmennya. Faktor personal terkait dengan kepribadian yang sesuai dengan tuntutan pekerjaan menjadi penting yang membedakan bagaimana seorang pengajar memaknakan lingkungan pekerjaan yang ada sehingga mampu tetap bertahan ataupun tidak. Melalui penelitian dengan mencari keeratan hubungan antara kesesuaian tipe kepribadian dengan karakteristik lingkungan pekerjaan dari teori J.P. Holland terhadap komitmen organisasi yang mengacu pada teori Steer & Porter, diharapkan dapat diperoleh manfaat dalam mengatasi persoalan turn over tersebut. Hasil perhitungan melalui Rank Spearman menggambarkan terdapat korelasi sebesar r = 0,764, artinya terdapat hubungan erat yang signifikan antara kesesuaian tipe kepribadian dengan lingkungan pekerjaan terhadap komitmen organisasi pada para pengajar di bimbingan belajar Villa Merah Bandung.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to make a design of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a focus on Attention Deficit and Hiperactivity children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) as a comorbid to increase childrens educational skills in managing aggressive and oppositional behavior with support from parents and environment.  For this purpose 3 children with a diagnosisi of ADHD combined type participated in the study. Core symptoms of ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) individual problem behavior were assessed by parent and teacher from questionnaires, interviewed and observed each child. The results of a case study indicate that the 3 children with ADHD and ODD showed the lack of emphaty, negative self-esteem and self concept, so they can’t regulate their self to act in social interaction. They don’t understand how to generated rules that the therapies and parents taught them in other situations eventhough they are more attentive, less hyperactive, and more thinkfull before act. To make them more adaptive in social life, they need to change their way to think about their self, their schemata, and they must have base skills to socialize. This can do through counseling to give insight and modeling behavior problem solving. We conclude that CBT may be a promising component in the treatment of ADHD providev that aspects of generalization are considered during the traetment that reduce problems of self-guidance.

Abstract

The presence of convicts (prisoners) in prisons tend to be associated with the growing likelihood of aggressive behavior of prisoners who have been previously owned. According Kornadt (1981), aggressive behavior occurs because the interaction of individual external factors, namely unpleasant condition with internal factors, namely the motive for aggression. The purpose of this study to describe the behavior of aggression and dynamics based on the concept of aggression proposed by Kornadt (1981). The subjects of this study was 30 teenagers who are prison inmates Rutan Kebon Waru, Bandung. Data obtained using measuring devices, such as: Behavior Aggression Questionnaire which is based on behavioral theory of aggression from Kornadt (1981), Aggression Questionnaire Motive System or SAS from Kornadt, and the results of semi-structure interviews to find out how the inmates live up to the negative affect felt. The results revealed that aggressiveness occurs in adolescent inmates Rutan Kebon Waru residents, Bandung. Aggressive behavior is triggered by negative affective appreciation, a sense of angry, disappointed, annoyed, sourced from a physical condition such as prisons: prisoners are cramped space, lack of ventilation, poor sanitation, to food menus that do not meet nutritional standards. Another source of negative affect comes from a fellow prisoner of mockery, extortion and subsequent negative penggencetan. Afek enable prisoners and the motive of aggression on aggressive behavior occurs, with the goal of a fellow prisoner. Form of aggressive behavior that most often arise and are mostly done is verbal aggression., physical aggression, while a smaller percentage of its appearance. This is presumably related to finding that the combination of motive system aggression in inmates of Rutan Kebon Waru Bandung, is specific, ie, although the motives of high aggression, but aggression is also high barriers. Cultural factors are suspected as a factor influencing the low behavioral aggression in adolescent inmates need to be further investigated.

Abstract

There is a way to get to know the opposite sex without courtship called Ta’aruf. Not many people who choose this way of acquaintance. But there are peculiarities in this Ta’aruf process until marriage which interesting to explore descriptively. In the process Ta’aruf, both side are not be able to see each other unless there is a third party as a mediator, someone who trusted by both sides. Every married couple wants to feel the happiness of marriage. Ta’aruf married couples hope to get happiness not only in the world but in the hereafter as well. Marital happpiness associated with the presence of marital satisfaction. According to Douglas K. Snyder (SOURCE) marital satisfaction can be seen through the 12 aspects. The aim of this study is to describe the marital satisfaction in couples who get married through Ta’aruf. The number of subjects is 9 pairs (18 people) and live in Bandung. The data was collected using a marital satisfaction measure was adapted from standard gauge Douglas K. Snyder. The results of validity and reliability of measuring devices such adaptions are as follows: there are 81 valid items with relliability based on Cronbach norm 0.963. Data processing results show 77.7% of married couples through Ta’aruf having marital satisfaction. This is supported by data Conventionalization 66.65%, 83.33% of Global Stress, 77.77% Affective Commuication, Problem Solving 77.77%, Aggresion 55.55%, 66.65% Time Together, Disagreement About Finances 77.77%, Sexual dissatisfaction 66.65%, 77.77% Role Orientation, Family History of Distress 66.65%, 88.88% dissatisfaction with Children,  Conflict over Child Rearing 72.21%. The data suggest that the experience of past and present contribute in improving marital satisfaction in couples who married through Ta’aruf.

Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to increase understanding of the meaning of life at single mother women. This study uses a cognitive approach. Through this cognitive approach obtained a negative self-image of how the subject thinks of himself. This negative self-assessment will be changed in the intervention, i.e by growing new understanding (insight) on the subjects themselves through restructuring the way of their thinking. This is being the basis of considerations that a change in the pattern of thinking will be followed by changes in behavior. The results obtained in this study carried out, it is understood in the sense that if the subjects of this study demonstrated a new perspective in assessing themselves, as well as the existence of self-conciousness, so that they have wrong perception about meanings of life, then at this stage means they have insight experienced. When insight is achieved, the subjects were invited to organize the necessary steps to achieve meaningful life. Subjects will get a new self-image, which they think themselves more valuable, and meaningful. In other words, the steps can be taken to find meaning in life is to create positive thinking on the subjects themselves.

Abstract

Saat ini dimana-mana banyak ditemui anak jalanan, terutama di tempat-tempat umum. Anak-anak jalanan tersebut sering melakukan perilaku yang meresahkan masyarakat. Salah satu perilaku yang sering dilakukan yaitu perilaku agresi, baik agresi berupa fisik maupun berupa verbal. Tujuan penelitian ini  untuk mengetahui perilaku agresi pada anak jalanan di Badndung. Metode yang digunakan metode deskriptif dengan karakteristik responden yaitu anak jalanan laki-laki berusia 13-18 tahun dan termasuk klasifikasi “Children of the street” serta “Children on the street”. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat ukur perilaku agresi berdasarkan teori agresi dan Buss. Hasilnya anak jalanan menunjukkan frekuensi yang tinggi dalam perilaku agresi, baik agresi fisik maupun agresi verbal.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to gain empirical information about the correlation between the support of family and the level of depression among breast cancer sufferers who have mastectomy at Bandung Hasan Sadikin Hospital. This study used correlational method. Subject of this study was 20 patients, all of breast cancer suferrers who have mastectomy between one and two years, 30-45 years old, have spouse, still fertiled, had been medicated while this study performed, and enrolled at Oncology Clinic Hasan Sadikin Hospital. The hypothesis was the higher family support the lower level of depression of cancer breast sufferers who have mastectomy at Bandung Hasan Sadikin Hospital. The instrument which used to collecting data about family support was a scale which contructed by the researcher based on Sarafino’s Social Support Theory (1994), and Beck Depression Inventory was used to obtain the level of depression. Both of data was ordinal data, so the Rank Spearman correlation technique was used to analyze the data. The result was rs = -0,494, it means that the higher family support the lower level of depression among breast cancer sufferers who have mastectomy at Bandung Hasan Sadikin Hospital.

Abstract

Most students of 2005 class can complete the regular lectures on time and signed thesis in 8th semester, but only 3 of 35 students who could complete the thesis for a semester. This problem is not caused by poor ability due to delay completion of task. Delay the completion of the task behavior is known as procrastination. Burka and Yuen (2008) states that procrastination is caused by a sense of fear which classified into five forms, namely fear of failure, fear of success, fear of losing the battle, fear of separation and fear of intimacy. By using the procrastination Scale given to 50 students class of 2005 who are working on thesis obtained the result that 64% of them include procrastinator. The group of procrastinator students known that 78% felt the fear of failure and fear of success. Two form of fear are the most widely fear perceived by most procrastinator students.

Abstract

Education systems in the Faculty of Psychology Unisba quite heavy and tight especially in semester V. The pressures and demands could reduce the ability in learning the material and complete the study.. Pressures and demands can affect the emotions of students, it cause less efficient and effective in solving the problem.  Therefore it is necessary to design an intervention that take the practically, energy or cost efficiency, so it does not create a new problem for students. In the current study, researchers wanted to give stimulation of laugh. The method of research is experimental design by using Randomized Two Group Design. With stimulation of laugh as an Independent Variable and Solve the Block Design Test (analogy of the problem) as the Dependent Variable. The sample is students of the Faculty of Psychology Unisba semester V, with Purposive Sampling technique. The results is the stimulation of laugh can affect the ability to solve the Block Design Test, that is stimulation of laugh can accelerate the ability to solve problems in academic or social.
