Abstract

This essay looks at how to improve English language learning through the application of critical thinking, creativity, communication, and teamwork abilities. Students are expected to be able to navigate life's obstacles on their own thanks to the skills they have acquired since, among other things, a generation raised in the 21st century that is inundated with "conveniences" that have two sides can have both beneficial and harmful effects. Training students in social skills and global awareness is the main reason for the need of utilizing critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration learning abilities in education. These skills include problem-solving, communication, creativity and innovation, and cooperation. To provide students with the full range of talents and abilities necessary for a more affluent life, all of these competencies must be developed during the learning process

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the meaning of the songgot menyonggot tradition and provide an explanation related to the symbols of the songgot menyonggot tradition in the Tanjung Balai community. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, the research location was carried out in Tanjung Balai, precisely in Batu 3 SiJambi. To analyze the data using Piercer's semiotic theory, namely by analyzing icons, indices and symbols related to the songgot menyonggot tradition. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that this tradition is a tradition that aims to provide spiritual strength, motivation and prayers given by families or community groups to someone who is experiencing or has experienced a disaster.

Abstract

This research was carried out in the library of the Faculty of Language and Arts, Medan State University to develop learning media for B1 listening practice using the Proprofs platform. The development model used in this research is the Richey and Klein development model. The stages are: (1) planning stage, (2) manufacturing stage, and (3) evaluation stage. The focus of this research comes from the problems experienced by students majoring in German when listening to B1 level, namely lack of mastery of vocabulary. Vocabulary based on the themes Generationen, Migration and Europe will be developed in this research. The data source for this research is the book Studio Express B1 (Funk, et al, 2018) pages 90 to 114. The research results are in the form of learning media for listening practice in the form of online quizzes accompanied by audio and video. There are 20 questions for each topic that come from audio and video. The types of questions are incomplete sentences, multiple choice and true or false. The media created is validated by media experts, with a score of 95 (very good).

Abstract

In Sei Belutu Village, Sei Bamban District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, research was conducted to determine the influence of parents on the development of their children's speaking abilities. Descriptive qualitative research was used in this research. In this research, 7 parents and 7 children from Sei Belutu Village, Sei Bamban District, and Serdang Bedagai Regency were research subjects. Research findings come from parent interviews and child observation methodology. According to the findings above, children's speaking abilities are more advanced in the semantics section, and parents play a greater role in the modeling (for example) and teaching (teaching) sections to help children aged 5-6 years develop their speaking skills in Sei Belutu Village.

Abstract

Profil Pelajar Pancasila is educational policies from elementary school to university to realize pelajar Pancasila. This study aims at describing how the implementation of English learning by comparing English with Indonesian proverbs and how comparing two proverbs can strengthen especially Global Diversity. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with research subjects of students majoring in Civil Engineering. The data are the results of observations and questionnaires. To collect the data, the writers used observation, documentation, and questionnaire. The writers provided game links and worksheets related to proverbs in the class. The results of the questionnaire show that comparing English and Indonesian proverbs increases their knowledge, foster mutual respect between two different cultures, and increase pride in Indonesian culture.
