Abstract

Purpose: This program aims to empower farmer groups to utilize rice husk waste into alternative fuel through simple briquette-making technology based on the circular economy concept. Methodology/approach: The program employed a participatory approach, involving local communities through several stages, including socialization, environmental education, and technical training on briquette production. The training covered rice husk carbonization, binder preparation, briquette molding, and drying processes. Evaluation was carried out through participant involvement observation, pre-test and post-test assessments, and product quality trials. Results/findings: The results show a significant increase in community knowledge, with over 39% improvement between pre-test and post-test scores. Participants, particularly farmer group members, showed high enthusiasm throughout the activities, and more than 75% successfully produced briquettes independently. A simple briquette press tool was also handed over to the community and proven to be functional and easy to operate. Conclusions: The program effectively enhanced community skills and awareness in renewable energy utilization. Simple technology can convert agricultural waste into economic value while supporting environmental sustainability. Limitations: The short implementation period restricted long-term mentoring and evaluation of sustainability. The number of participants was limited to 15 farmers, reducing generalizability. Moreover, no detailed economic or environmental assessments were conducted, so efficiency and emission impacts remain unquantified. Contribution: This program enhances community capacity in utilizing rice husk waste through simple briquette-making technology. It promotes renewable energy awareness, supports the circular economy, and strengthens collaboration between universities and farmer groups as a replicable model for rural energy innovation.

Abstract

Purpose: Local food availability in Central Sulawesi faces post-disaster challenges and global market competition. This community service program aims to improve the competitiveness of Lere Village fishermen's food products through branding strategies and the use of digital technology. Methodology/approach: The program was implemented through community outreach, targeted training sessions, and mentoring focused on basic business management, digital marketing, and product quality improvement. Twenty-five fishermen participated in this program, selected based on their direct involvement in local food production and distribution. Results/findings: Results showed an increased management, product packaging, and skills in using social media for promotion. Partners also received product diversification strategies and access to food certification. Conclusions: In conclusion, this program has had a positive impact in increasing the capacity of fishermen to manage local food businesses and expand markets, thus supporting food sustainability in Central Sulawesi. Limitations: This program has limitations in the number of participants, which is only 25 fishermen, the short duration of mentoring, and limited access to digital infrastructure so that the implementation of digital marketing is not yet evenly distributed. Contribution: This program contributes by providing a model for empowering fishermen based on branding strategies and digital technology that can be replicated in other coastal areas. Furthermore, the program enhances fishermen's capacity in business management, product diversification, and digital marketing skills, thereby increasing the competitiveness of local products. The program also supports post-disaster food security by strengthening community-based production chains and opening access to food certification to add value and expand markets.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service activity aims to introduce and enhance the understanding of green accounting among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in aquaculture, particularly fish farmers in Desa Cogreg, Kecamatan Parung, Bogor. The purpose is to increase accounting literacy, integrate environmental aspects into financial recording, promote cost efficiency, and raise awareness of business sustainability. Methodology/approach: The activity used a participatory–educative approach involving 25 fish farmers, with observation and interviews in the preparation stage, followed by counseling, discussions, and distribution of a simple FCR module. Evaluation focused on participants’ responses and their needs for further training and mentoring. Results/findings: The counseling increased participants’ understanding of green accounting. Although unfamiliar, they recognized existing eco-friendly practices—water reuse, feed efficiency, and sludge utilization—as recordable financial activities. Findings revealed a gap between ecological awareness and accounting documentation, emphasizing the need for recording formats Conclusions: The program found that green accounting in MSMEs remains at a pre-integration stage, with environmental awareness present but lacking systematic documentation. The activity improved initial literacy, though sustained mentoring and simple tools are still needed, and the study was limited by a small sample and short observation period. Limitations: This activity was limited by a small sample size, a single location, and a short observation period, which restricted the generalizability and long-term evaluation of the results. Contribution: This program links green accounting theory with MSME aquaculture practices, offering a community service model that supports sustainability and provides a replicable framework for similar future interventions.

Abstract

Purpose: The accountability of village-owned enterprises (BUMDesa) is important since their capitals are from village governments and/or communities.  This community development program aims at accelerating accountability of village-owned enterprise in Temanggung Regency by enhancing capacities to prepare financial reports. Methodology/approach: Training of Trainers for BUMDesa staffs and Village Mentors was taking place in Temanggung Regency, Jawa Tengah Province. The training was followed by workshop to prepare financial reports using real BUMDesa data. Monitoring and mentoring via online meeting and chat group were also be provided. Results/findings: The training succeeded to enhance participants’ knowledge in preparing financial reports using Excel application. Several participants also reported their activities to share their knowledge in financial reporting and business development. Conclusions: The community service activity described in this article successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing the accountability of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa). This was accomplished through improving the capacity of administrators and Village Companions to prepare accurate and accountable financial reports, thereby supporting better transparency and governance. Limitations: Limited funding restricts the implementation of offline mentoring to the locations of the training participants, thereby limiting the frequency and scope of direct assistance and follow-up support. Contribution: This community development program exhibits successful implementation of a program to enhance accountability of village-owned enterprise by training, mentoring, and monitoring in preparing of financial reports.

Abstract

Purpose: This program aims to improve students' knowledge of emergency response in the school environment. Method: The activity was conducted at Darussalam Islamic High School in Kotagede, in November 2025, involving 19 students. The intervention consisted of a pre-test, lecture, demonstration, hands-on practice, post-test, and satisfaction evaluation. Knowledge was measured using a multiple-choice questionnaire consisting of 10 questions, while satisfaction was evaluated using an instrument containing 25 Likert scale. Data analysis used a descriptive approach. SWOT analysis was also used to assess the implementation context and opportunities for program sustainability. Results: The average knowledge score increased from 4.58 to 6.53, or an increase of 42.6%. The satisfaction level of participants reached 84.7% (88% for resource persons' reactions; 83% for educational delivery; 84% for the activity environment), indicating positive acceptance and relevance of the material to the participants' needs. SWOT analysis indicated strengths in material suitability, facilitator competence, and applicable methods; opportunities were seen in ongoing cooperation and implementation of similar programs at partner schools. Conclusion: School-based first aid education effectively improves knowledge of emergency first aid and received positive responses, making it a suitable model for promotional interventions in educational settings. Limitations: The scope of participants was limited, as it was only conducted in one school, and it did not evaluate long-term knowledge retention and practical skills in depth. Contribution: This program has the potential to be further developed through continuous cooperation so that it can strengthen school preparedness for emergency situations more comprehensively.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to improve the digital competence of teachers at SD Negeri 7 Salabose in designing visual learning media using the Canva platform. The program addresses teachers’ limited digital literacy and ability to create technology-based instructional materials. Methodology: The activity was carried out through a one-day intensive workshop involving 33 teachers. It included material presentation, demonstrations of Canva for Education features, hands-on design practice, and evaluation through online questionnaires measuring usefulness, ease of use, and satisfaction. Results: Teachers showed improved understanding of Canva’s features and successfully created posters and interactive slides. Evaluation results indicated high satisfaction, with a Reaction score of 94.2% and a Behavior score of 92.7%, demonstrating strong motivation to apply Canva in classroom learning. Conclusions: The workshop effectively enhanced teachers’ digital competence and readiness to integrate visual media into teaching. Short, structured digital training proved beneficial in fostering innovative and technology-integrated learning practices in elementary education. Limitations: The workshop duration was limited to one day, which allowed only basic-level mastery of Canva features. Contributions: This study contributes to strengthening teachers’ digital competence, promoting innovative instructional practices, and supporting the integration of visual learning media in elementary education.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service initiative was developed to strengthen local economic capacity and promote the utilization of indigenous natural resources within community-based enterprises. Research Methodology: The program specifically aimed to empower the residents of RT 01, Sei Selincah Subdistrict, Kalidoni District, Palembang City by introducing an innovative value-added herbal product in the form of gambir-based jelly candy. To achieve this objective, the service activities included program socialization, partner needs assessment, and technical training sessions that used simple kitchen equipment. Results: Participants were also trained in product packaging and labeling using basic branding tools like a label sticker paper, as well as in production cost calculation through spreadsheet software and simple marketing strategies using social media platforms. The pre-test and post-test results demonstrated a knowledge increase of 61.82%, with the average score rising from 62.67 in the pre-test to 94.85 in the post-test. Conclusions: The results demonstrated a notable increase in the participants’ technical skills, knowledge, and confidence, as evidenced by their ability to independently produce gambir jelly candies and initiate a small-scale home-based business. Limitations: Overall, the program effectively enhanced community competence, encouraged local product innovation, and supported long-term economic empowerment. Contributions: These outcomes contribute to sustainable livelihood development and strengthen the community’s self-reliance in creating functional herbal products with added value.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service program aimed to improve financial literacy and bookkeeping skills among MSMEs in Semat Village, Jepara, supporting sustainable business decisions and promoting local tourism based on regional products. Methodology: The program targeted 30 MSMEs, providing two days of training on SAK EMKM templates and Excel-based bookkeeping. Participants then received one month of intensive mentoring focused on daily transaction recording and separating business and personal finances. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests. Results: Participants showed significant improvement in both hard and soft skills. Financial recording skills rose from 20% to 88% (+68%), and the ability to separate business and personal finances increased from 12% to 84% (+72%). All participants demonstrated the ability to identify positive cash flow and prepare independent financial reports. Conclusions: The mentoring program successfully enhanced financial literacy, laying a foundation for sustainable business practices and long-term growth in Kembang Turi based village tourism. Limitations: The study is limited by the short mentoring period (one month) and small sample size, which restricts long-term impact measurement. Additionally, no control group was used. Contributions: The study provides a practical financial management model for rural tourism-based MSMEs, offering insights for academics, policy recommendations for local governments, and templates for practitioners.
