Abstract

TikTok, a video-sharing app launched in September 2016 by Byte Dance, has become very popular in Indonesia, especially among university students. In May 2024, Indonesia became the country with the highest number of student TikTok users in the world. This study explores the role of religious moderation as a potential solution to address the issue of cyberbullying on TikTok, focusing on the values of Tawassuth (moderation), Tasamuh (tolerance), and Ishlah (rectification). This research uses descriptive quantitative methods through a survey of 83 students of the Islamic Education Study Programme of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, consisting of 65 TikTok users and 18 non-users. The results showed that the majority of students agreed that they try not to discriminate against groups in the society. to not discriminate against groups in communication, respect differences, and try to improve the situation through the use of TikTok. In addition, most students also agreed that TikTok can be used as a means to establish friendship and promote religious moderation values. These findings indicate that religious moderation values can play an important role in reducing cyberbullying and promoting more positive communication on social media.

Abstract

Teacher Professional Education (PPG) is a strategic programme in improving the competence and professionalism of educators. However, the implementation of PPG still faces various challenges, such as participant readiness, curriculum effectiveness, and its impact on improving the quality of education. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the PPG program in improving teachers' professional competence. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis related to the PPG programme. Participants in this study included PPG participant teachers, supervisors, and programme managers. The results showed that the PPG programme contributed significantly to improving teachers' pedagogical and professional competencies, especially in the aspects of lesson planning, teaching strategies, and learner evaluation. However, there are obstacles such as time constraints, high academic load, and lack of synergy between theory and practice in the field. Therefore, improvements are needed in the design and implementation of the PPG programme to make it more adaptive to the needs of teachers and education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) learning model in improving critical thinking skills of elementary school students. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest- posttest, involving 23 students of class III-A SDIT Al-Falah as samples. The research instruments consisted of tests and assessment rubrics that measured critical thinking indicators, such as problem solving, analysis, and evaluation. The results showed a significant increase in students' critical thinking skills, with the  posttest average score reaching 100 compared to the pretest of 63.26. The t-test analysis resulted in a significance value of 0.015 (<0.05), proving that the PjBL model had a positive effect on improving critical thinking skills. However, the evaluation aspect still needs further strengthening. Effective implementation of PjBL requires teacher training, a supportive learning environment, and comprehensive evaluation. This research contributes to the development of innovative learning methods to improve 21st century skills at the primary education level.

Abstract

The teacher code of ethics is an important guideline in carrying out professional duties as an educator. This article discusses in depth the principles of the teacher code of ethics, its role in education, and its implications for the quality of learning. This research aims to analyse how the implementation of the teacher code of ethics can improve professionalism and the relationship between educators and students, parents, and the community. The research method used is a literature review that refers to various literature and regulations related to the teacher code of ethics. In addition, the impact of compliance and violation of the code of ethics in educational practice was analysed. The results show that a good understanding and implementation of the code of ethics can improve the integrity, responsibility, and quality of learning provided by teachers. Conversely, violations of the code of ethics can reduce public trust in the teaching profession and hinder the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. This research emphasises the importance of continuous training and socialisation of the teachers' code of ethics to maintain the values of professionalism. Thus, the teacher code of ethics is not only a written rule, but also a foundation in building an ethical, professional and quality educational environment.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning outcomes in the subject of "Senang Bisa Menulis Surah Al-Falaq" by implementing the Project Based Learning (PJBL) method in Class II at SDN Lubuk Tua, Muara Kelingi. The research was conducted using a classroom action research approach, which involved two cycles of implementation. The data were collected through observations, tests, and reflections. The findings indicate that before the PJBL method was applied, the students' learning outcomes were low, with an average score of 46, and most students were in the "insufficient understanding" category. In Cycle I, there was an increase in the average score to 62, with some students showing better participation, but the results still did not meet the expected target. In Cycle II, after improvements were made in student motivation and group interactions, the average score rose significantly to 72, and the majority of students reached the "good" category. The results demonstrate that the PJBL method is effective in enhancing students' understanding and engagement in learning. Thus, PJBL is recommended as a method to improve learning outcomes in Islamic education for elementary school students.

Abstract

Multicultural education plays a crucial role in facing the challenges of cultural, religious and ethnic diversity in society. This article aims to analyse the role of teachers in integrating multicultural education into the primary school curriculum, focusing on implementation strategies and challenges faced. This research uses a qualitative approach through the literature study method, by collecting and analysing data from various academic sources such as education, psychology and multiculturalism journals. The results showed that teachers act as facilitators, social change agents, and intercultural liaisons, who are able to increase students' cross-cultural awareness, empathy, and collaboration skills. Some of the effective strategies identified include the preparation of cultural context-based teaching materials, open discussions, and collaboration with parents and communities. However, challenges such as lack of teacher training, resources and policy support still need to be addressed. This article emphasises the importance of collaboration between teachers, schools and communities to create inclusive learning environments while preparing students to become tolerant and competitive global citizens.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the definition and basic concepts of educational management and the application of its principles in the implementation of education, particularly in efforts to improve the quality of education in secondary education institutions. Educational management principles such as efficiency, effectiveness, participation, accountability, and transparency are analyzed through a literature review using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained from various relevant literature sources, including books, journal articles, and policy and institutional documents. The results of the study indicate that the consistent application of educational management principles can improve the efficiency of resource management, strengthen school governance, and encourage stakeholder involvement in the educational process. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the importance of educational management as a systemic framework in creating quality, adaptive, and sustainability-oriented educational institutions. These findings are expected to serve as a conceptual foundation for policy formulation and the development of managerial practices in Islamic and general educational institutions.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of character education from an early age, particularly within non-formal educational institutions such as Qur'anic Education Centers (TPQ). TPQs play a strategic role in shaping children's morals and character through religious value-based learning activities. The purpose of this research is to explore the role of TPQ teachers in shaping children's character, examine the effectiveness of character-oriented learning activities, and analyse how the integration of educational technology supports the process. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach as proposed by John W. Creswell. The research subjects were the teachers at TPQ An-Nur Kajen. Data were collected through interviews and observation, and analysed using phenomenological steps including meaning-making, theme identification, and essence description. The findings reveal that TPQ teachers act as mentors, character builders, and collaborators with parents. Religious activities, group discussions, and educational games serve as effective tools in shaping children's character. Moreover, the integration of educational technology such as visual media, Qur'an learning apps, and interactive digital games contributes significantly to enhancing children's motivation and engagement. The study concludes that character education in TPQ will be more effective when implemented collaboratively and supported by relevant educational technology.
