Abstract

This experimental study investigates the impact of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Apost-test). Statistical analyses, including independent and paired samples t-tests as well as a Two-Way ANOVA, revealed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in academic achievement, with a large effect size (η² = 0.21). Additionally, female students in the experimental group exhibited higher achievement scores compared to their male counterparts; however, the interaction between teaching method and gender was not statistically significant. These findings underscore the potential of PBL to enhance both academic outcomes and critical thinking abilities in EFL contexts, suggesting that active, student-centered instructional strategies may offer substantial benefits over traditional teaching methods.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of virtual laboratories on developing integrative concepts between mathematics and science among eighth-grade students. The research adopted an experimental design with three equivalent groups: the first experimental group studied mathematics using virtual laboratories, the second experimental group studied science using virtual laboratories, and the control group studied using the traditional method. The sample consisted of 83 eighth-grade students from basic education schools in Duhok Governorate for the academic year 2024-2025. The researchers prepared an integrative concepts test consisting of 18 items distributed equally across three concept elements (definition, discrimination, application). The results revealed statistically significant differences between the three groups in the post-test of integrative concepts in favor of both experimental groups, with no significant difference between the two experimental groups themselves. Additionally, both experimental groups showed significant improvement in their integrative concepts understanding from pre-test to post-test. The effect sizes were large, confirming the educational importance of these differences. Based on these findings, the researchers recommended providing the necessary infrastructure for implementing virtual laboratories in schools, training teachers to use them effectively, and developing curriculum materials that highlight the connections between mathematics and science concepts. The study suggested conducting further research on the impact of virtual laboratories on other educational aspects and in different educational stages.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the quality management strategies implemented by the Head of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurul Islam Alai to enhance learning effectiveness. The topic was chosen due to the critical role of leadership in improving educational quality, particularly in madrasahs that often face challenges such as low learning outcomes, limited use of innovative methods, and insufficient supervision. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the madrasah head, direct observations, documentation studies, and secondary sources such as relevant journals and books. Data analysis involved source criticism, data organisation, and conclusion synthesis. The findings reveal that the madrasah head applied Total Quality Management (TQM) strategies, focusing on improving learning facilities, teacher training, and collaboration with parents. Active community participation through regular meetings and communal activities served as key supporting factors. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and a shortage of teaching staff hindered programme optimisation. To address these issues, the madrasah head submitted proposals for government assistance and recruited teachers from nearby schools. Positive impacts of these strategies included increased student engagement, better material comprehension, and enhanced teaching quality. The study concludes that visionary leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and participatory approaches are pivotal to successful educational quality management. These findings provide practical insights for madrasahs in designing adaptive quality improvement strategies, though contextual considerations are necessary for broader generalisation.

Abstract

One important aspect in improving students' mathematical communication ability is the use of the right learning model, one of which is through the Discovery Learning (DL) model. The purpose of writing this article is to find out how much influence the DL model has on student performance. This study is important because it provides a thorough review of the effectiveness of the DL model based on findings from various previous studies. The method used is SLR with meta-analysis guidelines for ten articles, using Cohen's formula to calculate the effect size value. The results showed one article in the medium category (0.47) and nine others in the very large category (1.046-7.27). This finding shows that Discovery Learning is effective in improving mathematical communication skills. This article contributes to strengthening the empirical foundation and provides recommendations for the application of this model in mathematics learning practices.
