Abstract

The conflict between Hamas and Israel has created a complex asymmetric warfare environment, giving rise to elements of hybrid warfare involving both military and non-military tactics. Hybrid warfare is not a new idea. The focus is primarily on the ability to target distant objects and processes through unconventional military methods, especially for state and military functions. Hybrid warfare, known as an asymmetric approach, seeks to achieve major impact using simple methods, such as stopping an enemy's military operations or cutting off public political support. The operational environment of hybrid warfare consists of a series of interrelated areas of conflict, such as military, economic, social, information, diplomatic, trade, science, and technology. Since states involved in hybrid war do so by undertaking centralized actions in all areas of conflict subject to a single goal, it follows that the actions undertaken by states involved in hybrid war must also be centralized in all areas. Hybrid warfare requires both conventional and unconventional instruments of power and means of subversion. This research aims to analyze the elements of hybrid war in the context of an asymmetric war between Hamas and Israel in 2023.

Abstract

History teaches that every time a war occurs, one important factor that cannot be ignored is troop mobilization. In the wars that have occurred so far, whether World War I, World War II, or other wars, the majority of victories were determined by the number of troops the winning party had. Management of national resources, one of which is the population as troops, requires good handling and preparation in facing the threat of war. Both conventional wars which are currently occurring in other parts of the world, such as Israel-Palestine or Russia-Ukraine, as well as asymmetric wars which also threaten the security and safety of the nation. This article discusses the human resources that the Indonesian state has to prepare reliable personnel to face the threat of war. The analysis used is a comparative gender analysis between men and women and an analysis of trends in the population of productive age projected until 2030. So far, troops or human resources have often been interpreted as only men being able to face threats. Female human resources are also widely available and can work alongside men if they are trained and managed well.

Abstract

Singapore and Indonesia's defence strategies are shaped by significant differences in terms of area and length of coastline. While Singapore's compact size makes it vulnerable to invasion, it also allows for the concentration of military resources within a smaller perimeter. A study was conducted to report a literature analysis that focused on analysis of Global Firepower that tracks military power information from 145 countries in the world. We identified and analyse the comparison of Singapore and Indonesia Military Strengths in 2024. The main purpose of this research is to identify and present relevant information without conducting experiments or direct observation.

Abstract

The environmental crisis caused by the escalating issue of plastic waste has garnered significant attention globally, including in Indonesia. Jambi, a region profoundly impacted, grapples with the challenge of managing plastic waste, which accounts for 50 percent of the annual waste production from 2022 to 2023. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of legal policies in addressing this environmental crisis, focusing on plastic waste management in Jambi. Additionally, it examines efforts to prevent further environmental deterioration through legal enforcement. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study methodology, data were gathered through interviews with various stakeholders, including governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, and industrial sectors. Document reviews and literature surveys were also conducted to gain insights into the current state of plastic waste management in Jambi. Findings indicate that despite the existence of legal frameworks aimed at mitigating plastic waste issues, implementation remains limited, failing to significantly reduce plastic waste accumulation in Jambi. Critical factors such as inadequate inter-agency coordination, resource scarcity, and insufficient public awareness hinder effective environmental crisis management efforts. In conclusion, this research underscores the pressing need for more robust implementation of legal policies to combat the environmental crisis, particularly in plastic waste management in Jambi. Additionally, proactive measures through stringent legal enforcement are imperative to prevent further environmental degradation and safeguard the ecological integrity of Jambi's landscape.

Abstract

The purpose of this writing is to find out the legal consequences carried out by Notaries who are signing the deeds virtually in the Covid-19 pandemic situation and to find out the urgency of changes that occur regarding authentic deeds that virtually will obtain certainty, benefit and legal protection not only for notaries but also for the community. The results of the research and analysis in this writing are that electronic signatures have actually been regulated in Indonesia in Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions. It's just that virtual signing of deeds using electronics has not yet obtained a strong legal basis in Indonesia. Legal certainty also cannot be achieved because there are still conflicting provisions in Law Number 2 of 2014 concerning the Office of a Notary. During the Covid-19 pandemic, many professions were able to carry out their duties by utilizing electronics but notaries were excluded because there were no specific rules that clearly regulated it and there were various legal consequences which resulted in uncertainty, injustice and no legal protection for notaries. Therefore, changes to laws and regulations or legal products are needed in order to achieve legal synchronization and harmonization. The government needs to increase the role of the notary in accordance with the times and regulate the legal force and data authenticity as well as the power of electronic deeds in proof which have been an obstacle so far.

Abstract

War is an event that can be avoided by most countries in the world. War may be the last alternative that must be taken if diplomacy do not reach an agreement. One of the categories of warfare that results is the asymmetric warfare pattern, which has become a trend in the form of warfare in the current era. Asymmetric warfare describes modern conflicts that exploit power inequalities between the parties involved. It involves tactics and strategies that are different from conventional warfare. The Southwest Papua region has become the center of international attention in recent years due to the increasingly worrying escalation of the terrorist conflict. To understand the escalation of terrorism in Southwest Papua, we need to consider the long history of ethnic and political conflict in the region. Terrorism in Southwest Papua is not only a threat to security, but also an asymmetric war with significant long-term implications due to dissatisfaction and feelings of marginalization that have existed for decades. This article also refers to data and case studies to provide a deeper understanding of terrorism in the Southwest Papua region and its relevance within the framework of asymmetric warfare. The research method in this writing uses a library study method which will be obtained from library sources such as books, websites, articles, journals, and so on. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide an understanding of the causes of terrorism in the Southwest Papua region as asymmetric warfare occurred in Indonesia.

Abstract

Minangkabau customary inheritance law has always been a matter of debate. This may be because Minangkabau traditional inheritance law is unique and distinctive compared to traditional inheritance law systems in other regions in Indonesia. As a result, inheritance law is also affected by Minangkabau dualization which originates from the partnership paradigm in Minangkabau marriages. This research uses normative legal research methods. In this research, it was found that according to Minang Kabau Customary Law, the process of inheritance and distribution of inheritance is often influenced by cultural values and norms that exist in Minangkabau society.
