Abstract

Digital transformation has reshaped the music industry while simultaneously complicating the governance of economic value distribution, particularly regarding performing rights. This article analyzes the polarization between Asosiasi Komposer Seluruh Indonesia (AKSI) and Vibrasi Suara Indonesia (VISI) as a form of political-economic contestation in the governance of music copyright in Indonesia during the 2022–2025 period. Using a qualitative document analysis approach, this study combines Wallis’ (2004) music industry value chain framework with Sabatier and Jenkins-Smith’s (2009) Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF). Wallis’ framework is used to explain the different structural positions of songwriters and performers within the music industry value chain, while ACF is employed to understand how these competing interests evolved into advocacy coalitions contesting policy direction within the copyright subsystem. The study identifies three main findings. First, the conflict over performing rights reflects the different structural positions of songwriters and performers within the music industry value chain, resulting in competing economic interests regarding control, royalty distribution, and the commercial use of musical works. Second, regulatory ambiguities between Articles 9 and 23 of Indonesia’s Copyright Law No. 28/2014, combined with weak transparency and legitimacy of the National Collective Management Organization (Lembaga Manajemen Kolektif Nasional, LMKN), intensified these tensions and pushed the conflict into the public sphere. Third, individual disputes among musicians eventually evolved into broader collective political mobilization through the establishment of AKSI and VISI, both of which actively engaged in litigation, political lobbying, and intervention in copyright law reform debates, transforming performing rights into a broader struggle over authority in governing Indonesia’s music industry. This article concludes that reforming performing rights governance is essential to ensuring legal certainty, more accountable royalty distribution, and a fairer balance of economic rights protection between songwriters and performers.Theoretically, this study contributes to the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF) literature by demonstrating its applicability in analyzing policy contestation within the creative industry sector in developing countries, particularly in contexts where regulatory ambiguity and weak intermediary institutions serve as catalysts for the emergence of new advocacy coalitions.

Abstract

This article analyzes the practice of clientelism in the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG) program, particularly through the distribution of access to the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi, SPPG). The study employs a qualitative approach using document analysis of reports published by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), Tempo, and other supporting documents. The analysis applies Kitschelt and Wilkinson’s (2007) citizen–politician linkages framework. The findings show that access to SPPG management is distributed selectively to actors with political ties to the government, including party cadres, 2024 presidential campaign volunteers, political elites, military, and police networks. This pattern reflects clientelistic practices through patronage distribution, loyalty targeting, and monitoring mechanisms based on political networks. The study also finds an absence of competency-based standards in selecting SPPG partners, resulting in governance that prioritizes political proximity over technical capacity. Consequently, the MBG program becomes vulnerable to conflicts of interest, rent-seeking practices, and public service failures, including cases of mass food poisoning among beneficiaries. The article concludes that the MBG program has the potential to function as a medium for consolidating political patronage in Indonesia’s post-2024 electoral landscape.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the role of parents with hearing impairments in raising hearing children. The research focuses on three aspects: educating and guiding children, disciplining and instilling responsibility, and fulfilling children's psychological, social, and emotional needs. This study employed a qualitative case study design involving six families with parents who have hearing impairments in Yogyakarta and its surrounding areas. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation, as well as member checking. The findings show that parents educate and guide hearing children by using visual communication, sign language, writing, concrete objects, digital media, and learning assistance from extended family or the surrounding community. Discipline and responsibility are developed through habituation, visual rules, repeated messages, role modeling, daily monitoring, and concrete consequences. Psychological, social, and emotional needs are fulfilled through affection, protection, acceptance, physical closeness, attention, and support for the child's identity as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA). The study concludes that hearing impairment does not prevent parents from performing meaningful parenting roles when supported by bilingual-bimodal strategies, extended family involvement, technology, and a disability-friendly environment

Abstract

English pronunciation plays an important role in achieving effective oral communication, yet many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners experience difficulties in producing English sounds that do not exist in their native language. Among these sounds, the English affricative consonants /tʃ/ and /dʒ/ are often problematic for Indonesian learners. Therefore, this study aimed to identify and analyze the pronunciation errors, particularly the substitution patterns, of the English affricative consonant sounds /tʃ/ and /dʒ/ produced by first-year English Education students. This research employed descriptive qualitative design supported by simple quantitative analysis. The participants were 17 first-year students selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through a pronunciation test consisting of 20 words containing the target sounds in initial, medial, and final positions, and the students’ pronunciations were recorded in video form. The findings revealed a total of 39 pronunciation errors, all of which (100%) were classified as substitution errors. The sound /dʒ/ was more frequently mispronounced than /tʃ/. Pronunciation errors occurred in all sound positions, with the highest frequency found in the initial and medial positions (38.46% each), followed by the final position (23.08%). The dominant substitution patterns were /d/ /j/, /d/ /g/, /tʃ/ → /k/, and /tʃ/ → /s/. These findings indicate that students tended to replace English affricative consonants with more familiar non-affricative sounds. The study highlights the need for targeted pronunciation instruction and systematic drilling activities focusing on English affricative consonants to improve students’ pronunciation accuracy and communicative intelligibility.

Abstract

The rapid development of the nickel industry in Bahodopi District, Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, has significantly transformed land use patterns due to the expansion of industrial areas and their supporting activities. This study aims to analyze land cover changes resulting from the development of the nickel industry in the area using a multitemporal approach covering the period from 2014 to 2025. The research employed a quantitative approach using spatial analysis based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through overlay techniques of land use maps from 2014, 2017, 2021, and 2025, combined with land use and land cover change analysis. The study area covers seven villages, namely Bahodopi, Keurea, Bahomakmur, Fatufia, Labota, Makarti Jaya, and Padabaho. The results indicate that industrial land experienced the highest increase across all study villages, particularly in Labota Village (5,449%), Makarti Jaya Village (4,656%), and Bahomakmur Village (2,058%). This increase was accompanied by substantial residential expansion, exceeding 1,000% in Bahodopi Village. In contrast, green areas and agricultural land declined in most parts of the study area due to their conversion into industrial zones, residential areas, and infrastructure. The dominant land conversion pattern was the transformation of green areas into industrial and residential land. This study concludes that the development of the nickel industry has been the primary driver of land cover change and spatial transformation in Bahodopi District, leading to an increasingly industrialized regional structure.

Abstract

As an essential component of knowledge management within organizations, knowledge sharing helps to improve teamwork, especially in government institutions that involve civil servants. This research aims to determine the factors that influence Knowledge Sharing Behavior (KSB), performing consideration of Knowledge Sharing Intention (KSI) as an endogenous driver, Perceived Organizational Support (POS) as a moderating variable, and self-efficacy, subjective norm, horizontal trust, vertical trust, IT adoption, and public service motivation as exogenous variables. Based on a survey of 327 respondents at the BPS-Statistics of Indonesia, the results reveal that Self-efficacy, Subjective Norms, and IT Adoption concurrently have a positive direct impact on both Knowledge Sharing Intention and Knowledge Sharing Behavior. Furthermore, Public Service Motivation and Knowledge Sharing Intention also exhibit a positive direct effect on the target variable. Nevertheless, neither horizontal nor vertical trust has an impact on the way people share knowledge. Meanwhile, regarding the moderating effects, perceived organizational support possesses the power to specifically strengthen the relationship between Self-efficacy and Knowledge Sharing Intention, whereas its interaction effects on other behavioral pathways are found to be non-significant.

Abstract

Ico Maly (2018, 2020) introduced the concept of algorithmic populism as a framework for understanding how populist claims are constructed through the operation of algorithms within digital platforms. However, most empirical studies underlying this concept originate from Western Europe and Latin America, where digital populism tends to be rage-driven, built on anger, confrontation, and narratives of hatred. In this regard, this article argues that this characterization is inadequate to explain the dynamics of digital populism in Indonesia, where affective mechanisms are based on humor, personal closeness, and relaxed, open performances. Empirically, this argument is anchored in the 2024 Indonesian presidential election, the country's first TikTok election, and specifically in Prabowo Subianto's Gemoy (roughly, cute or endearing) campaign, in which a previously confrontational strongman was rebranded through humor, warmth, and playful dance content that came to dominate engagement on the platform.Using a conceptual analysis approach using the theory adaptation strategy (Jaakkola, 2020) supported by a semi-systematic literature review (Snyder, 2019; Paul & Criado, 2020) with a transparent search protocol in four scientific databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and SINTA) for the period 2014–2026, this article identifies three limitations of the existing framework: geographic bias, the assumption that negative emotions (anger) fuel algorithms, and the lack of cultural context. Therefore, this article proposes the development of a concept called Affective Algorithmic Populism. This development encompasses three dimensions that distinguish it from Western variants: positive affectivity, an open performative mode, and a cultural grammar in the form of an inclusive affective community. Finally, in the closing section, this article offers a research agenda for the development of algorithmic populism studies in the Global South.

Abstract

PT Berkah Industri Mesin Angkat (PT BIMA), a subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise, operates 67 branches across Indonesia, providing engineering services, port equipment maintenance, spare parts procurement, and port civil engineering services. The company faces significant challenges, including suboptimal integration of information systems, fragmented operational monitoring processes, and reactive maintenance and data management practices. These conditions have resulted in inefficient operational performance and suboptimal managerial decision-making. This study aims to design an Enterprise Architecture (EA) aligned with the company's business needs to support the integration of business processes, information systems, and information technology for PT BIMA's maintenance services. The research employs a qualitative approach using the TOGAF ADM (Architecture Development Method) framework, with data collected through document studies and interviews. The scope is limited to Phase D (Technology Architecture), as this study represents the initial EA planning stage in a company that lacks formal architectural documentation. Data analysis was conducted using open coding to identify and categorize concepts derived from raw interview data. The findings propose four key innovations: an Integrated Maintenance Monitoring Dashboard, Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence, an Integrated Asset Management System, and a Mobile Maintenance Application. This EA design is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve data integration across business units, enable real-time service monitoring, and support data-driven decision-making at PT BIMA.
