Abstract

Anemia among pregnant women remains a public health problem in Indonesia because it increases the risk of pregnancy complications as well as maternal and infant mortality. Low adherence to iron (Fe) tablet consumption is often associated with a low level of knowledge. This study aimed to determine the relationship between pregnant women’s level of knowledge regarding iron (Fe) tablet consumption and the incidence of anemia in the working area of Tanjung Agung Public Health Center, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, in 2025. This study employed an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach involving 65 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a knowledge-level questionnaire and hemoglobin measurement using an Hb stick, then analyzed using the Chi-Square (χ²) test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that 35 pregnant women (53.8%) experienced anemia, while 30 women (46.2%) were not anemic, with a p-value of 0.031, indicating a statistically significant relationship between pregnant women’s level of knowledge and the incidence of anemia. In conclusion, better knowledge among pregnant women regarding iron (Fe) tablet consumption is associated with a lower risk of anemia. It is recommended that health workers enhance nutrition education and conduct routine monitoring of adherence to iron tablet consumption at every antenatal care visit

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a condition in which pregnant women experience iron deficiency in the blood. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of administering iron tablets and a combination of iron tablets and date palm juice on increasing Hb levels in anemic pregnant women at Sobang and Picung Health Centers in 2025. Quantitative research method, quasi-experimental research design with control group design. Simple random sampling technique. The population was pregnant women, a sample of 30 people, 15 people as the control group (group 1) who were only given iron and 15 people as the intervention group (group 2) were given treatment by consuming iron and date palm juice every day for 7 days. The results of the univariate study showed that the educational characteristics of pregnant women were mostly low education (60%) and high education (40%). The results of the bivariate study obtained an average Hb level before being given iron tablets of 10.2267 and an average Hb level after being given iron tablets of 10.9333 and an average Hb level before being given a combination of iron tablets and date palm juice of 10.360 and an average Hb level after being given a combination of iron tablets and date palm juice of 11.253. Both groups of research results showed an increase in Hb levels but there was a comparison of the increase in Hb levels, so that giving a combination of iron tablets and date palm juice was more effective in increasing hemoglobin levels compared to those only given iron tablets. This may occur because there are differences in characteristics of pregnant women in Education. It is hoped that it can be used as a source of information for pregnant women to increase their insight and knowledge about anemia and anemia prevention in their pregnancy.

Abstract

Soursop leaves (Annona squamosa L.) are known to contain secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and polyphenols that have the potential as natural antioxidants. Antioxidants play an important role in warding off free radicals that can cause skin damage, premature aging, and degenerative diseases. This study aims to formulate a lotion preparation with soursop leaf extract and evaluate its antioxidant activity using the ABTS (2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) method. The extract was obtained through a maceration method using 96% ethanol. The lotion formula was prepared with various concentrations of soursop leaf extract, then tested for physical quality properties, as well as antioxidant activity by measuring the IC50 value of the ABTS radical solution. The results showed that soursop leaf extract has very strong antioxidant activity, indicated by a strong IC50 value. The resulting lotion preparation has good physical characteristics and antioxidant activity comparable to the comparator quercetin. Thus, soursop leaf extract lotion has the potential to be developed as a natural skin care product with moisturizing and antioxidant functions

Abstract

Hair loss can lead to baldness, and many commercial hair tonics contain synthetic chemicals with potential side effects. This study explores the use of natural ingredients, specifically green spinach leaf (Amaranthus viridis) extract, as an alternative. Green spinach leaves are rich in flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and antioxidants, which are known to stimulate hair growth. The research aims to evaluate the hair growth activity of green spinach leaf extract on New Zealand rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), assess the physical quality of hair tonic formulations at three concentrations (5%, 10%, 15%), and determine the most effective formula. The study used a quantitative, descriptive, and experimental approach. Extracts were obtained via maceration with 96% ethanol and formulated into hair tonics. Rabbits were divided into six groups: untreated, positive control, negative control, and three treatment groups (F1, F2, F3). Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. Physical stability tests showed all formulations were stable. Statistical analysis (One-Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey) revealed significant differences in hair growth between treatment and negative control groups, with the 15% formula (F3) yielding the highest average hair growth (10.67 mm).

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ARTI) remains a major infectious disease in Indonesia, significantly affected by inappropriate antibiotic utilization, potentially increasing bacterial resistance. This study aims to evaluate the rationality of antibiotic use among ARTI inpatients at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, Surakarta. Utilizing a quantitative, retrospective descriptive design, all medical records of ARTI inpatients from 2023 to 2025 meeting the inclusion criteria were included as samples (total sampling). Data were collected using structured forms and processed using Microsoft Office and IBM SPSS Statistics 20; analysis was performed descriptively following Gyssens' criteria. The study found that although most patients received correct antibiotics with respect to indication (94.7%), drug type (94.7%), dose (100%), and timing (100%), only 34.2% received antibiotics for the appropriate duration. Rational antibiotic use by Gyssens' method was found in only 34.2% of cases. These findings highlight the high rate of duration errors and emphasize routine audits and educational interventions. It is concluded that, despite strengths in dosage and selection, duration of antibiotic use remains a challenge for rational therapy.

Abstract

Nurses' work motivation is an important factor in the implementation of nursing care. High work motivation will help improve nurses' performance so they can provide quality health services. This study aims to determine the determinants of nurses' work motivation in the implementation of nursing care at Cilincing Regional General Hospital, North Jakarta in 2025. The research method used is quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples was 54 nurses. Data collection used a questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test) and multivariate (logistic regression). The results of the study showed that most employees had high work motivation (59.3%). The results of the bivariate analysis, variables that had a significant relationship with nurses' work motivation were Rewards (p = 0.002 and OR = 7.583), training (p = 0.013 and OR = 5.159), supervision (p = 0.026 and OR = 6.842), perception of rewards/salary (p = 0.001 and OR = 9.450), coworker relationships (p = 0.007 and OR = 7.000), and work environment (p = 0.0001 and OR = 18.000). The results of the multivariate analysis, it turned out that the most dominant factor was the work environment variable (p = 0.002 and OR = 33.196). This study concluded that the work environment had the highest influence on nurses' work motivation. It is recommended to maintain and preserve a conducive working environment for nurses in order to support their performance and well-being. Additionally, the frequency of supervision should be increased, both by the head nurses and the department heads, to ensure the quality of nursing care and adherence to established standards. The use of an objective and measurable application system, such as the e-Employee system, is also suggested to facilitate fair compensation and streamline the process of training applications
