Abstract

Maxillary midline diastema (MMD) is a space between the middle incisors of the upper jaw which is often an aesthetic problem in adolescents and young adults because it can affect the appearance and decrease the patient's confidence. This condition has a multifactorial etiology, such as genetic factors, high labial frenulum attachment, bad habits of the oral cavity, and impaired growth and development of teeth. In mild diastema cases, the use of removable orthodontic devices can be a treatment option because it is simple, conservative, and effective in correcting the position of the teeth. This case report aims to describe the management of the maxillary midline diastema using removable orthodontic devices. A 19-year-old woman came to the Soelastri Dental and Oral Hospital with a complaint of a gap in the anterior teeth of the upper jaw that interfered with appearance and confidence. Patients also complained that food often got stuck between the teeth and complaints had been felt since high school. The results of the examination showed the presence of a maxillary midline diastema between teeth 11 and 21. Treatment is performed using a removable orthodontic device with an active component of the finger spring for the correction of the central diastema. The patient underwent treatment for 6 months accompanied by regular control and activation of the device. The results of the treatment showed a satisfactory closure of the diastemic space. The use of removable orthodontic devices is effective in correcting mild cases of maxillary midline diastema and can improve the patient's aesthetics and confidence.

Abstract

The development of analytical methods and quality systems in the pharmaceutical industry is now shifting from the conventional trial and error approach to a systematic, scientific, and risk-based approach to meet international regulatory demands. This article aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the concepts of Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD), Quality by Design (QbD), and various risk management instruments in improving product quality and operational efficiency in the pharmaceutical industry. Methods: This study is the result of a literature review of 15 scientific journals discussing analytical method development, process validation, product stability, and operational risk management. The analysis shows that the application of AQbD and QbD through parameters such as Analytical Target Profile (ATP) and Design of Experiments (DoE) can increase the robustness of analytical methods and reduce the risk of failures such as Out of Specification (OOS). The use of risk management tools such as Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) has proven effective in identifying cross-contamination risks and distribution process failures. The integration of scientific and risk-based approaches has a significant positive impact in ensuring quality consistency, accelerating time-to-market, and supporting compliance with ICH guidelines (Q8, Q9, Q10, Q14).

Abstract

Breast cancer remains a critical global health burden as the most prevalent malignancy and a leading cause of female mortality, with profound physical, psychological, and economic consequences for patients and families. A comprehensive understanding of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is essential, as over 50% of patients report significant anxiety and depression, which can worsen clinical prognosis and drastically reduce survival rates if left unmanaged. However, substantial research gaps persist, characterized by inconsistent findings regarding demographic variables influencing HRQoL and a limited synthesis of literature integrating ecological coping models and socio-relational self-efficacy across diverse cultural contexts. This systematic literature review aims to analyze the relationship between various coping resources and patients' psychological distress and quality of life during treatment and recovery. Adhering to the PRISMA protocol, this study systematically screened 473 articles from the Scopus database within the subject areas of nursing and psychology published through 2024. Furthermore, digital health (eHealth/mHealth) interventions, such as the "Yun Dong Ru Kang" rehabilitation app and text messaging programs. Consequently, a shift toward a holistic care model incorporating routine distress screening and work integration support is warranted. Practitioners should optimize digital technology for remote monitoring and strengthen social support to mitigate emotional vulnerability.

Abstract

The ship's engine room is an area with the highest noise level that threatens the safety and health of the crew, with exposure of 95-108 dB exceeding the NAB 85 dBA (Per.13/Men/X/2011). Objective: To analyze the effect of noise on the safety and health of engine crew. Method: Descriptive quantitative research with simple linear regression. Population and Sample: 36 engine crew from the Marine Practice program of Surabaya Maritime Polytechnic, purposive sampling. Instruments and Analysis: Sound level meter, Likert questionnaire, SPSS for regression (Y=12.490+0.441X), t-test, R². Results: Noise has a significant effect (t-count=2.346>2.034, sig=0.025<0.05), explaining 37% of the variation in risk. Conclusion: Engine room noise increases the risk of deafness, stress, and accidents; PPE and engine maintenance are required.

Abstract

Quality Risk Management (QRM) is increasingly recognized as a critical framework for ensuring pharmaceutical product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. This literature review aimed to examine the implementation of QRM in the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular focus on its role in preventing deviations and quality failures. A total of 25 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2026 were systematically collected and analysed from databases including Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and ResearchGate using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results indicate that QRM tools — particularly Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), Quality by Design (QbD), and risk matrices — are widely applied across manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing, packaging, and distribution processes. FMEA was identified as the most prevalent risk assessment method, while integrated CAPA systems have demonstrably shifted quality management from a reactive to a proactive paradigm. Challenges including subjectivity in risk scoring, limited training, and suboptimal integration with quality management systems remain prevalent. This review concludes that comprehensive QRM implementation significantly reduces the frequency of deviations, strengthens GMP compliance, and enhances patient safety in the pharmaceutical industry.

Abstract

This research develops a transporter robot controlled by a wireless joystick for light cargo transportation applications. The system uses the ESP32 microcontroller to process commands from the joystick via a wireless connection, which then controls the DC motor to drive the robot wheels using PWM signals, and a servo motor to operate the gripper that lifts light items up to 300 grams. The robot is equipped with BTS7960 drivers for the DC motors and L293D drivers for the servo motor. The robot’s power source is a 18650 battery, which supports operation for 50-65 minutes. The method used is Research and Development (R&D), focusing on the design, implementation, and testing of the transporter robot. Testing was conducted to evaluate the robot's ability to transport items, movement stability, and response to joystick commands. The test results show the robot can move at a speed of 0.6 m/s and turn with precision. The gripper can lift items up to 280 grams stably, and the robot has a fast joystick response time of less than one second. The contribution of this research is the development of an efficient wireless-controlled transporter robot, with applications in light cargo transportation in confined environments, such as industries and warehouses. The simple and efficient system makes this robot a practical solution for improving operational efficiency in various applications.

Abstract

The utilization of biomass in the form of sawdust as a co-firing fuel in boilers has increasingly been implemented to reduce coal consumption and carbon emissions. Sawdust has a high volatile matter content and is readily available; however, its ash characteristics, which contain alkali elements such as potassium (K) and sodium (Na), as well as its relatively low ash melting point, have the potential to increase fouling formation on boiler heat transfer surfaces. Fouling refers to the accumulation of deposits on the economizer, superheater, reheater, and air preheater, which can reduce heat transfer efficiency, increase flue gas temperature and differential pressure (DP), increase induced draft fan load, decrease main steam temperature, and increase sootblower operating frequency. This study aims to analyze the effect of sawdust combustion on fouling formation using boiler operational data obtained from the Distributed Control System (DCS). The parameters analyzed include coal flow rate, sawdust flow rate, total fuel flow, co-firing percentage, primary air flow, secondary air flow, flue gas O₂ content, furnace exit gas temperature (FEGT), flue gas temperature to the stack, economizer differential pressure, air preheater differential pressure, main steam temperature, and sootblower operating frequency. Data were collected at fuel mixture variations of approximately ±3% sawdust relative to the total fuel flow, with hourly intervals for a minimum of 24 hours for each operating condition. The analysis was conducted by comparing changes in temperature, differential pressure, and boiler performance at each variation of sawdust percentage. Indications of increased fouling were identified by rising flue gas temperatures and differential pressure, reduced heat transfer effectiveness, and increased sootblower operation requirements. The results of this study are expected to show that increasing the percentage of sawdust tends to increase fouling formation; however, there is still an optimum limit for sawdust utilization that can be applied without significantly reducing boiler efficiency and reliability.

Abstract

Continuous exposure to ultraviolet radiation triggers the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), leading to oxidative stress and damage to cellular biological components. This condition is closely associated with increased activity of the tyrosinase enzyme, a key enzyme in the melanin biosynthesis process that can cause hyperpigmentation. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant activity and tyrosinase enzyme inhibition potential of the ethanolic extract of pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) in vitro. The research method began with the extraction of pandan leaf powder using 70% ethanol as a solvent. Subsequently, qualitative  phytochemical screening was conducted to identify secondary metabolites. The antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH method across various concentrations, with Vitamin C as the standard comparison. The tyrosinase enzyme inhibition assay was performed spectrophotometrically using L-DOPA as a substrate at a wavelength of 492 nm. Phytochemical screening revealed that the extract contains secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. The antioxidant test using the DPPH method showed that at a concentration of 500 ppm, the extract achieved an inhibition percentage of 97.73%, which is comparable to the effectiveness of Vitamin C (99.36%). In the tyrosinase enzyme assay using L-DOPA as a substrate, the blank absorbance was 0.794, while the sample absorbance was 0.907. Although the sample absorbance was higher due to the extract's intrinsic color pigments, the calculation indicated a very strong enzyme inhibition effectiveness of 90.7%. In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) holds significant scientific potential as a natural therapeutic agent to counteract oxidative stress and inhibit melanogenesis in skin pigmentation disorders.

Abstract

Chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a major public health challenge. Globally, the WHO reports that approximately 38 million pregnant women experience malnutrition each year, including CED, which contributes to an increased risk of maternal and neonatal mortality. In Indonesia, based on 2018 Riskesdas data, the prevalence of CED in pregnant women reached 17.3% (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2023b). CED in pregnant women, identified by an upper arm circumference (LILA) of less than 23.5 cm, has serious impacts on maternal and fetal health, such as increasing the risk of low birth weight (LBW), premature birth, hypothyroidism, and stunting (Supadmi et al., 2020). This problem poses a major challenge in efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality and improve the quality of public health. This study aims to determine the effect of local supplementary feeding (PMT) assistance for pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (CED) on maternal nutritional status. This research was conducted in May 2026. This type of research is quantitative research using a Pre-Experimental design with a one group pretest posttest design approach . The sampling technique was carried out using a purposive sampling method . The sample used in this study was 18 respondents. The instruments used were questionnaires and PMT assistance sheets. The average nutritional intake before assistance was 42.3 calories and after assistance was 73.4 calories, while the LiLA measurement before assistance was 22.3cm and after assistance was 23.3cm. There is an effect of local supplementary feeding assistance (PMT) for pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (KEK) in the work area of the Sindang Danau Health Center UPT on maternal nutritional status, with an increase in nutritional intake between 20.9 calories to 38.6 calories and an increase in LiLA size between 0.5 cm to 1.6 cm.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a chronic disease that causes not only physical problems but also psychosocial distress in women. Physical changes resulting from mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy can affect patients’ self-concept through body image disturbances, decreased self-esteem, anxiety, and a crisis of feminine identity. These conditions can impact patients’ quality of life and treatment adherence. This literature review aims to analyze self-concept disturbances in women with breast cancer based on recent research. This study employed a narrative literature review method. Articles were obtained through searches on Google Scholar, PubMed, GARUDA, ScienceDirect, and Scopus using the keywords “breast cancer,” “self-concept,” “body image,” “kanker payudara,” and “konsep diri.” The articles used were full-text articles in Indonesian and English from the period 2021–2026. A total of 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed narratively through data reduction, theme categorization, and synthesis of research results. The review findings indicate that self-concept disturbances in breast cancer patients are characterized by negative body image, reduced self-confidence, depression, anxiety, and difficulty accepting bodily changes. Influencing factors include age, psychological condition, cancer stage, family support, partner support, and social stigma. Psychosocial interventions such as counseling, support groups, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are effective in helping to improve patients’ self-acceptance. Disturbed self-concept is a significant psychosocial issue among women with breast cancer that affects patients’ quality of life and treatment process. A holistic, multidisciplinary, and biopsychosocial approach to healthcare is necessary to help improve the psychological adaptation and well-being of breast cancer patients.
