Abstract

Background : Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Mortality and incidence rates are generally highest in high-income countries, especially the United States and European countries. In the United States, it is estimated that 234,030 people were diagnosed with lung cancer in 2018. Adenocarcinoma is the most dominant type of histological lung cancer, with the papillary adenocarcinoma subtype rarely encountered.Case Report : A case was reported from a 66-year-old male with slaid number B / 4903/19. On macroscopic examination from biopsy tissue appeared gray, springy, with a volume of ± 0.2 cc. On microscopic examination, a tumor mass shows form a papillary structure with fibrovascular core and a small portion of solid. Consists of tumour cells with pleomorphic nuclei, rough chromatin, some with intranuclear vacuole, pale cytoplasm and protruding nuclei. Mitotic was found. Stroma consists of fibrous connective tissue infiltrated by tumor cells and inflammation of lymphocyte cells. Dilated blood vessels and congestion. Areas of necrosis and lymphovascular invasion were seen.Discussion and Conclusions : Based on the histopathological picture, the patient is diagnosed with papillary adenocarcinoma of the lung with a classical histology picture that makes it easy to established the diagnosis. Prognose was poor.

Abstract

Hypertension serves as an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis development and is linked to factors that predispose to aortic calcification. Furthermore, hypertension has the potential to cause the acute rupture of existing plaques by elevating mechanical pressure on them. Chest X-ray imaging is a commonly employed method for identifying aortic calcification during routine examinations. Medial arterial calcification is visualized as radiopaque findings resembling tram-tracks, while calcification within the intima is observed as radiopaque spots.A cross-sectional study involving 92 hypertensive individuals who underwent chest X-ray imaging at RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan aimed to assess the distribution of study subjects in terms of age, gender, hypertension severity, and aortic calcification degree. Hypertension history was extracted from patients' medical records, and aortic calcification measurements were conducted in the aortic arch by both the researcher and a radiologist. The majority of hypertensive patients were aged over 65, accounting for 40.2% of the sample, with a predominant female population of 57.6%. Stage 1 hypertension was the most prevalent, affecting 52.2% of the subjects, and grade one aortic calcification was the most common, observed in 63% of cases.A weak yet statistically significant positive correlation between hypertension and aortic calcification was identified (p < 0.05; r = 0.196) in the patient population at RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan.

Abstract

The kidneys are excretory organs whose function is to remove metabolic waste in the form of toxic substances from the body. Ethylene glycol is a chemical that if consumed in the body can cause damage to the kidneys. Batak onion (Allium chinense G. Don.) is a herbal plant and food typical of North Sumatra which is believed to have health benefits for the body. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of Batak onion ethanol extract on creatinine and urea levels of white rats induced by ethylene glycol. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 25 white rats divided into 5 treatment groups, namely the negative control group was given food and drink, the positive control was induced by 0.75% ethylene glycol, treatment 1 was induced by 0.75% ethylene glycol and extract. Batak onion ethanol was 250 mg/kg BW, treatment 2 was induced by 0.75% ethylene glycol and Batak onion ethanol extract was 500 mg/kg BW and treatment 3 was induced by 0.75% ethylene glycol and Batak onion ethanol extract was 750 mg/kg BW. The data obtained was analyzed statistically using one way Anova with Duncan's follow-up test. The results obtained by Batak onion ethanol extract had an effect on creatinine levels (p = 0.000) and urea levels (p = 0.000) in white mice. Giving Batak onion ethanol extract at a dose of 750 mg/kg BW and ethylene glycol for 30 days was the most effective dose in reducing creatinine and urea levels in white rats.

Abstract

Stigmatization of the mentally ill persons has been one of the derailing factors on the gains made in fighting mental disorders. This stigmatization has seen escalation of the mental illness related effects such as school dropouts, suicide, substance abuse among other consequences as victims eschew seeking treatment for fear of stigmatization. On the other hand, mass media content through the framing of messages and how the communication on mental health issues has been portrayed, play integral role in shaping the public opinion on mental illness. This study therefore sought to examine the role played by mass media content on the stigmatization of mental illness among college students in Kenya Medical Training College. Using a descriptive research approach, the study through a questionnaire surveyed 384 students drawn from a population of 51045 students at the college. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS. The findings revealed that the mass media content significantly influenced mental illness stigmatization among the college students. A conclusion was drawn that the failure by the mass media content to frame mental health issues in a clear and articulate manner, and lack of priming of the mental health-related issues contributed to increased ignorance and stereotyping of the mentally ill persons. It is therefore recommended that the media practitioners and stakeholders have a role to play in eradicating the stigmatization of the mentally ill persons by priming the mass media content on mental issues at the prime time just like other issues, and framing the content on mental health in an articulate manner that is more understandable. More time should also be allocated to mental health issues in the mass media content in order to create more awareness and eradicate the stigmatization.

Abstract

Nutritional problems can occur in the life cycle starting from the womb until old age. Currently, Indonesia is facing multiple nutritional problems that must receive serious attention in handling. Malnutrition problems can cause health problems throughout the life cycle. One of the nutritional problems that occurs, especially in West Aceh Regency, is stunting. thus causing many children to have their growth and development hampered. The 4 star food menu is one way to provide nutrition for stunting toddlers. The aim of this research was to determine the knowledge, education, employment of mothers and eating patterns by providing MPASI with a 4 star menu as an innovation to fulfill nutrition for stunted children in the Johan Pahlawan Health Center working area, West Aceh Regency. The method used inThis research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research type with an exploratory approach, namely conducting in-depth interviews. In general, not many people in the Johan Pahlawan Community Health Center work area are aware of the existence of the 4 star MPASI menu innovation for handling stunting. The relatively low level of education causes the mother's lack of knowledge in fulfilling nutrition according to the MPASI 4 Bintang Baduta menu. In handling stunting clowns, although there are those who know how to make the menu, they do not provide a 4 star MPASI menu due to low economic factors.

Abstract

Desert plants are renowned for their ability to thrive in extreme environments characterized by limited water availability, high temperatures, and intense solar radiation. This paper explores the diverse adaptations that enable these plants to survive in such challenging conditions. Physiological adaptations, including water-use efficiency through CAM and C4 photosynthesis, along with morphological features such as reduced leaves and specialized root systems, play crucial roles in water conservation and heat tolerance. Behavioral adaptations, such as rapid germination and seed production following rainfall, further enhance their resilience. Understanding these adaptations not only illuminates the remarkable strategies of desert flora but also holds implications for ecological conservation and sustainable agriculture in arid regions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the promotive behavior of elderly health in Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used to explore the role of attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control in influencing the promotive behavior of the health of the elderly. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with elderly participants and health workers. The results showed that positive attitudes towards healthy behaviors, such as physical activity, were quite high, but were not balanced with consistent behaviors, especially in terms of healthy eating and regular health checkups. Subjective norms from families and health workers are a significant driver, although negative influences from the environment remain. Perceived behavioral control is the main factor that determines the behavior of the elderly, where physical limitations, access to health services, and economic constraints are the main obstacles. These findings underscore the importance of comprehensive, community-based interventions to improve behavioral control and social support of older people. This research contributes to the understanding of factors that influence the promotive behavior of the elderly health and becomes the basis for the development of more effective intervention strategies.
