Abstract

Introduction :Spondylolisthesis is a displacement of one vertebra relative to the vertebra below it with an estimated prevalence of spondylolisthesis of 6 to 7% at age 19 years, and up to 18% of adult patients undergoing MRI of the lumbar spine. Grade I spondylolisthesis accounts for 75% of all cases. Various factors can influence the occurrence of spondylolisthesis such as BMI, age and gender. Objective. This study aims to determine the characteristics and analysis of the relationship between spondylolisthesis patients and lumbosacral x-rays based on body mass index, age and gender as well as the local anatomical distribution and frequency of spondylolisthesis degrees. Results :A total of 120 patients were predominantly aged>60 years old, female and obese. Based on the location of spondylolisthesis, most of them are at L4-5. There are almost the same numbers of scoliosis patients and those without scoliosis. The majority of spondylolisthesis patients are dominated by spondylosis on lumbosacral xray examination. There was a relationship between spondylolisthesis and age, BMI and gender (p<0.05). Spondylolisthesis patients with female risk factors are at risk of experiencing spondylolisthesis (OR=6.490) and obese patients are at risk of experiencing spondylolisthesis (OR=4.024). Discussion:The prevalence of spondylolisthesis and patient gender may be related to the influence of the female sex hormone estrogen on tissues associated with the human musculoskeletal system. An increase in body mass index (BMI), an axial load on the intervertebral discs and facet joints, causes an increase in compressive forces on the spine. Age has the potential to be a determining factor in degenerative conditions with the occurrence of disc narrowing, osteoarthritis (OA) of facet joints, and degenerative spondylolisthesis showing a significant linear trend. Conclusion :There is a significant relationship between spondylolisthesis and BMI, age and gender in spondylolisthesis patients who underwent lumbosacral xray examination at H Adam Malik Hospital Meda. The variables gender and BMI are the most significant risk factors. Spondylolisthesis patients with female risk factors are at risk of experiencing spondylolisthesis 6.5 times greater and patients who have an obese BMI are at risk of experiencing spondylolisthesis 4 times greater than patients without this condition at RSUP H Adam Malik Medan.

Abstract

Body weight is one of the parameters that provides an idea of body mass. Normal or ideal body weight is if height and weight are balanced. The normal weight limit for adults is determined based on the body mass index (BMI) value. According to WHO 2024, there are around 2 billion adults who are overweight and 650 million people who are obese, with an estimated increase to 2.7 billion in 2025. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood caused by a insulin production, insulin resistance, and suboptimal insulin action. Indonesia is the 7th highest with the number of diabetes sufferers reaching 10 million people and is predicted to increase to 16.2 million people in 2040. This research aims to prevent diabetes mellitus which is influenced by obesity in students of the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Abulyatama University, by focuses on temporary increases in blood glucose levels and the risk of metabolic disease due to abnormal blood glucose control and BMI. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional approach, where researchers collected primary data obtained from the results of examinations of body mass index (BMI) and blood glucose levels at Abulyatama University, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Education Study Program, class of 2020, class of 2021, class of 2022, and class of 2023. The results of this study show a significant relationship between BMI and an increase in blood glucose levels at any time (p-value = 0.000). As many as 52% of students had blood glucose levels <140 mg/dL, 37.3% had blood glucose levels of 140-199 mg/dL, and 10.7% >200 mg/dL. Based on BMI, 38.7% of students are normal, 25.3% are obese 1, 14.7% are obese 2, 13.3% are overweight, and 8% are underweight.

Abstract

on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). This study uses a cross-sectional design involving 333 randomly selected elderly respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires that included the components of the SDGs: attitudes towards behavior, subjective norms, and perception of behavior control. The results showed that all components of the SDGs had a significant effect on health behavior intentions, with attitudes towards behavior having the greatest influence (regression coefficient 0.45, p < 0.01), followed by subjective norms (0.30, p < 0.05) and perception of behavior control (0.25, p < 0.05). Although the intention to behave healthily is high (60%), only a subset of older people report consistent actual health behaviors, suggesting a gap between intention and action. Inhibiting factors such as physical limitations, poor access to health services, and inadequate social support were identified as major barriers. To address this gap, a comprehensive intervention approach is recommended through health education, strengthening social support, and improving service accessibility. In conclusion, the health promotion model based on the SDGs is effective in predicting the intention of the health behavior of the elderly and can be applied in health promotion programs in other regions.

Abstract

The kidneys play a vital role in filtering toxins from the blood, producing hormones, and maintaining metabolic processes in the body. However, kidney diseases, including kidney stones, kidney infections, and kidney failure, are increasingly prevalent due to poor lifestyle choices. Expert systems, designed to simulate the decision-making capabilities of specialists, are gaining prominence in diagnosing various diseases, including kidney disorders. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology to analyze eight recent articles on web-based expert systems for kidney disease diagnosis. The review examines various expert system approaches, including Certainty Factor, Dempster Shafer, and Forward Chaining, and their effectiveness in diagnosing conditions like kidney stones, acute kidney failure, and chronic kidney disease. The results reveal that while these systems offer reliable diagnoses and are accessible across multiple platforms, there is a need for further research in expanding the range of diagnosable diseases and refining diagnostic criteria. Suggestions for future work include incorporating user-specific data, such as gender and lifestyle, and exploring alternative diagnostic approaches like fuzzy logic systems. This study contributes valuable insights into the development of more comprehensive and accessible web-based expert systems for kidney disease diagnosis, which could support healthcare practitioners and patients alike in the timely detection and management of kidney-related conditions.
