Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Qowaid wa Tarjamah method in teaching nahwu through Al-Ajurrumiyyah at grades 5 and 6 of Madrasah Diniyah Ula Al Hidayah Karanggupito and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research participants consisted of the head of the madrasah, the nahwu teacher, and students of grades 5 and 6. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Qowaid wa Tarjamah method was carried out through six main stages: introduction, presentation of grammatical rules, text translation, i'rab analysis, memorization, and evaluation. The successful implementation of the method was supported by teacher competence, a strong tradition of kitab kuning learning, students’ learning motivation, institutional support, and the availability of learning resources. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors included the abstract nature of nahwu materials, limited instructional time, differences in students’ prior abilities, limited learning media, and students’ dual learning burdens. The study concludes that the Qowaid wa Tarjamah method remains relevant for nahwu instruction in madrasah diniyah because it aligns with the objectives of kitab kuning learning and Arabic grammar mastery. However, its implementation requires continuous innovation to meet contemporary educational needs.

Abstract

Arabic indeed holds a strategic position in the constellation of Islamic education; however, the responsiveness of MTs Al-Hidayah Karanggupito Ngawi students toward learning Arabic still shows a relatively low tendency, even tho they have adequate Al-Qur'an literacy competence. This study aims to examine the relationship between the ability to read the Quran and the educational interest in the Arabic language among the student population. The methodology applied is a correlational quantitative approach with the implementation of saturated sampling techniques on all 50 students as research subjects. Data collection was carried out using the Al-Qur'an recitation practice test instrument and a Likert-scale learning interest questionnaire that had undergone a validation process. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test after the normality and linearity requirements were met. The research findings show a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.221, which is lower than the r-table (0.279) at a 5% significance level, thus H₀ is not rejected. In conclusion, no statistically significant relationship was found between the ability to read the Al-Qur'an and students' interest in learning Arabic. The implications of these results indicate that interest in Arabic education is more determined by complex affective factors, including intrinsic motivation, pedagogical methodology, and contextual environmental support. Therefore, it is necessary to develop learning strategies that explicitly integrate Quran reading practices with the substance of Arabic language material.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, translation plays a pivotal role in bridging cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication across all sectors. The essence of translation lies in conveying the meaning and intent of the source language into the target language using equivalents that are accurate, clear, and natural. This research offers both theoretical and practical benefits. Theoretically, it is expected to enhance insights and scholarly discourse regarding the quality of Arabic-Indonesian machine translation on social media platforms. A descriptive qualitative method was employed in this study to collect and analyze descriptive data in the form of linguistic phenomena. By utilizing documentation and content analysis techniques on five news posts from the "Al Jazeera Channel" Facebook account, this study successfully interpreted the quality of machine translation as it occurs naturally. Based on the analysis of the machine-translated texts, the results indicate that the translation quality is categorized as less accurate with an average score of 2.2, less acceptable with a score of 2.0, and possesses a moderate level of readability with a score of 2.4. These issues stem from fatal lexical errors, contextually inappropriate word choices, and deviations from standard Indonesian grammatical rules. The conclusion of the analysis of machine translation on the "Al Jazeera Channel" Facebook account shows that the quality is less accurate, less acceptable, and moderately readable, necessitating a profound evaluation, particularly regarding diction selection and conformity with linguistic standards.

Abstract

Social changes driven by technological advancement and globalization have generated moral challenges in modern society, including rising crime, behavioral deviation, and the weakening of spiritual values, thus requiring a strong ethical foundation as a normative response. This study aims to examine the social ethical values contained in Surah Al-An‘ām verses 151-153 and to analyze their relevance in addressing contemporary moral crises. The research employs a qualitative method using library research with a tahlili exegesis approach and comparative analysis of classical and contemporary Qur’anic commentators. The findings reveal that the ten divine commandments in these verses construct a systematic framework of social ethics encompassing theological foundations, individual morality, and just social relations. These values remain relevant for contemporary society when internalized through moral education, strengthening family roles, ethical leadership, and value-based public policies. The study concludes that Qur’anic social ethics are not merely normative but also practical guidelines for fostering a moral, just, and civilized society in the modern era.
