Abstract

This study empirically investigates how the degree of transparency in sustainability reporting influences earnings management practices among listed companies in Indonesia's energy sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, covering the period from 2021 to 2024. Grounded in three theoretical perspectives Agency Theory, Stakeholder Theory, and Legitimacy Theory this study argues that when companies disclose their sustainability information more comprehensively, management's capacity to manipulate reported earnings becomes increasingly constrained, owing to reduced information asymmetry and heightened external scrutiny. The independent variable is measured through the Sustainability Reporting Disclosure Index (SRDI), constructed based on the GRI Standards 2021, while earnings management is proxied by the absolute value of discretionary accruals derived from the Modified Jones Model. Firm size and leverage are incorporated as control variables. Using purposive sampling, 32 companies were selected, generating a total of 128 observations. The data were analysed through panel data regression employing a Random Effects Model with White's cross-section robust standard errors. The results reveal that sustainability reporting transparency does not exert a statistically significant effect on earnings management. This finding suggests that, within Indonesia's energy sector, sustainability reporting tends to function more as a legitimacy-seeking tool rather than a genuine expression of corporate transparency. Firm size was found to have a significant negative effect on earnings management, whereas leverage did not demonstrate a meaningful influence. This study contributes to the growing body of literature examining the relationship between sustainability reporting and earnings management, with particular relevance to the energy sector in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability and liquidity on firm value in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2025 period. The study was motivated by inconsistencies in previous research results regarding the influence of profitability and liquidity on firm value. Profitability was measured using Return on Assets (ROA), liquidity was measured using Current Ratio (CR), while firm value was measured using Price to Book Value (PBV). This research employed a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from company financial statements. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 9 manufacturing companies during the research period. The data analysis methods included descriptive statistical analysis, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination test (R²), partial test (t-test), and simultaneous test (F-test) using SPSS software. The results showed that company profitability tended to be stable although several companies experienced performance fluctuations, while liquidity levels showed considerable variation among companies. Based on the partial test results, profitability (ROA) did not have a significant effect on firm value with a significance value of 0.765 (>0.05), while liquidity (CR) had a significant negative effect on firm value with a significance value of 0.011 (<0.05). Simultaneously, profitability and liquidity had a significant effect on firm value with an F-test significance value of 0.020 (<0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.169 indicates that profitability and liquidity were able to explain 16.9% of the variation in firm value, while the remaining 83.1% was influenced by other factors outside the study. This research is expected to contribute to the development of financial management knowledge and serve as a consideration for investors and companies in decision-making.

Abstract

The study investigates the impact of governance on firm value, along with the moderating role of institutional ownership, among companies operating in the consumer cyclicals and consumer non-cyclicals sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) over the 2021-2023 period. Drawing on a sample of 42 companies and 126 observations, a quantitative panel data approach was adopted, with data gathered through purposive sampling. The Bloomberg Governance Score was used to measure governance, Tobin's Q served as a proxy for firm value, institutional ownership was the moderating variable, and firm size, leverage, and profitability were included as control variables. Model selection was conducted using the Chow and Hausman Tests in EViews 14, which indicated that the Random Effects Model (REM) was the most suitable estimation approach. The findings reveal that governance does not exert a significant influence on firm value. Furthermore, institutional ownership is unable to strengthen the relationship between governance and firm value. These results suggest that ESG-based governance signals have not yet been optimally absorbed by investors in the Indonesian capital market; hence, reinforcing governance reporting standards and enhancing investor ESG literacy are considered essential steps toward integrating non-financial information into investment decision-making.

Abstract

Dividend policy is one of the key indicators used by investors to assess the stability and financial performance of banking companies. This study aims to analyze the effect of financial performance on the Dividend Payout Ratio in conventional banks in Indonesia during the 2021–2024 period. Financial performance is proxied by liquidity, Leverage, and profitability. This research employs a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consists of 43 conventional commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange up to 2024. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling, resulting in 24 conventional banks with a total of 96 panel data observations. The data used are secondary data obtained from the companies’ annual financial statements and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that liquidity, proxied by Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), has a positive and significant effect on the Dividend Payout Ratio; Leverage, proxied by Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR), has a negative and significant effect on the Dividend Payout Ratio; and profitability, proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), has a positive and significant effect on the Dividend Payout Ratio. Furthermore, liquidity, Leverage, and profitability simultaneously have a significant effect on the Dividend Payout Ratio in conventional banks in Indonesia. This study indicates that the company’s financial performance is a key factor in determining dividend policy in the banking sector.

Abstract

The surge in Non-Performing Financing (NPF) from 1.89% to 8.75% in 2025 indicates the need for a more effective risk mitigation strategy at KSPPS BMT Assyafiiyah BN Pekalongan. This study uses a qualitative approach to analyze the effectiveness of preventive, detective, and curative risk mitigation. The findings show that although the 5C+1S procedure as well as the financing restructuring have been implemented, the effectiveness of mitigation remains low. This is due to the high subjectivity of analysis due to the social closeness between managers and members, as well as a monitoring system that is still manual so that early detection of late payment failures is carried out. These conditions contribute to increasing NPFs and lowering institutional liquidity stability. The research recommends the implementation of the digitization of an objective data-based early warning system as well as the standardization of financing feasibility assessments to reduce the risk of default. Thus, digital transformation in risk mitigation is expected to be able to maintain operational sustainability and increase members' trust in the institution.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance on firm value in the Consumer Staples and Consumer Discretionary sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2021–2023. The study is motivated by inconsistent empirical findings regarding the relationship between ESG and firm value, as well as differences in sectoral characteristics that may influence ESG effectiveness. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of ESG on firm value in both sectors and compare the differences between them. This research employs panel data analysis using samples of 23 Consumer Staples companies and 19 Consumer Discretionary companies over a three-year period, resulting in 69 and 57 observations respectively. The Fixed Effect Model was applied to the Consumer Staples sector based on the Hausman test result, while the Consumer Discretionary sector used the Random Effect Model. Firm value was measured using Tobin’s Q, ESG performance was proxied by Bloomberg ESG Score. The findings indicate that ESG has no significant effect on firm value in the Consumer Staples sector, while ESG has a significant negative effect in the Consumer Discretionary sector. These results suggest that the relevance of ESG depends on sector characteristics and market perceptions of ESG investment in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing business ethics in shaping students’ professional character through academic experiences and social practices. The research focuses on how business ethics values are understood, implemented, and internalized by students in academic activities, organizational involvement, and other social interactions. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretative method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving students actively engaged in academic and organizational activities. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and thematic conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the internalization of business ethics occurs through habituation, role modeling, social interaction, and direct experiences in facing situations that require responsibility, honesty, discipline, and professionalism. The campus environment, lecturers, student organizations, and social culture play significant roles in shaping students’ professional character. Furthermore, social practice experiences provide opportunities for moral reflection that strengthen students’ ethical awareness in decision-making. This study concludes that the internalization of business ethics is not merely theoretical but is also formed through real experiences and continuous social practices, thereby fostering professional character with integrity and responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of sustainability reporting, good corporate governance (GCG), and company size on the value of companies with financial performance as a mediating variable in energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The research approach uses quantitative methods with causality design, as well as secondary data in the form of financial statements and sustainability reports. The research sample consisted of 60 observations obtained through purposive sampling techniques. The analysis was carried out by descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and mediation tests using the Sobel Test. The results of the study show that sustainability reporting, GCG, and company size have a positive and significant effect on financial performance. Furthermore, financial performance has been proven to have a positive effect on the company's value. In the full model, all independent variables together with financial performance have a significant effect on the company's value. The mediation test confirmed that financial performance partially mediated the relationship between sustainability reporting, GCG, and company size to the company's value. These findings confirm that improving the quality of sustainability reporting, implementing good governance, and optimizing company size can increase company value both directly and through financial performance. The implication of this research is the need for energy sector companies to strengthen transparency, governance, and efficiency of asset management to increase attractiveness in the eyes of investors.

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional problem that remains a major development challenge in Central Tapanuli Regency. Growth in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), increased realization of Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) and Domestic Direct Investment (PMDN), and zakat collection should be important instruments in reducing poverty rates. However, data from 2019–2023 shows a discrepancy, where the growth in these macroeconomic and social indicators is not accompanied by a decrease in the number of poor people. This study aims to analyze the influence of zakat, GRDP, PMA, and PMDN on poverty levels in Central Tapanuli Regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis with secondary data from BPS, BAZNAS, and BKPM as well as interviews with relevant parties. The results show that zakat does contribute to alleviating the burden on mustahik, but its role is still limited because the majority of distribution is consumptive. GRDP increased from Rp9.95 trillion in 2019 to Rp13.67 trillion in 2023, but the resulting economic growth is not yet inclusive. Foreign direct investment (FDI) tends to be oriented towards large capital with limited labor absorption, while domestic direct investment (PMDN) is closer to local needs but still less than optimal in poverty alleviation. Overall, the increase in zakat, GRDP, FDI, and PMDN has not been able to reduce the poverty rate, which actually increased from 376,474 people in 2019 to 489,760 people in 2023. Thus, a more inclusive development strategy, optimization of productive zakat, and investment policies that favor labor-intensive sectors and MSMEs are needed so that economic growth truly impacts poverty reduction.

Abstract

The growth of digital banking services has inspired banks in Indonesia to provide a package of services not limited to financial transaction purposes but also lifestyle commerce and shopping. Yet, it is observed that the use of the Livin’ Sukha service in the Livin’ by Mandiri app is quite low compared to other digital banking services. Therefore, this study will examine the effect of perceived benefits, perceived risk, and perceived trust on customers' willingness to use Livin’ Sukha services for shopping activities at Alfamart. For this purpose, a quantitative research design was applied by utilizing a survey research methodology with a sample of 200 users of Livin’ by Mandiri, selected using purposive sampling technique. The data were gathered by distributing online surveys and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square. It was discovered that there is a positive relationship between perceived benefits and perceived trust and perceived benefits and willingness to use; meanwhile, perceived risk showed negative relationships with perceived trust and willingness to use. Furthermore, perceived trust has positive relationships with customers' willingness to use Livin’ Sukha services. Besides, it has been revealed that household shopping activities have good potential to increase customers' engagement and transactions
