Abstract

The utilization of micro hydropower plant is intended for providing electricity at Alue Dua village in North Aceh. A problem associated with the implementation of the micro-hydropower plant in the village is that the water flowrate of the run-of-river is varied at 117 litres per second during the wet season and at 36 litres per second during the dry season. This variation affects the speed of the water turbine and the capacity of power generated by its generator. Therefore to stabilize the output power and voltage of the generator during the course of the year, this paper aims to regulate the intake water flowing into the water turbine by controlling the opening vent valve from 0% up to 100% and controlling the electrical load connected to the generator. The speed of the water turbine was measured using the tachometer. It was found that the generator can produce electricity at its rated power 40 kVA during the wet season by opening the valve at 100% and at 12 kVA with the opening valve at 30% during the dry season. Opening the vent valve at 100% during the dry season can drain the water within 12 minutes

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept where all products can interact with each other to help human activities by utilizing the internet. The IoT system can help solve problems such as the schedule-based retrieval system at a temporary shelter in Indonesia. This paper creates a web-based geographic information system along with the IoT-based waste temporary shelter prototype. The prototype also integrated with an Arduino Microcontroller so that it can sort the waste automatically into three types of waste, then record data in the form of height and weight, and send the results of the data to the database so that the geographic information system can display the results of the data. Node-RED serves as an Application Programming Interface (API) that sends data from the server to the database belonging to a web-based geographic information system. The results of the performance analysis are that the prototype has sorted waste well, and the system also produced good QoS by ETSI standards when looking at the network traffic from the MQTT server to the database, and from the end-user to the web. As for the QoE results for tools and systems have produced good results according to the ITU-T standard.

Abstract

Water condition is the main factor that affects the success rate of aquaculture, especially in shrimp cultivation. However, the farmer often experiences difficulties in determining the condition which is stated based on the measurement of various water parameter. Therefore, a proper classification model is needed to help the farmer in classifying the water condition in a pond. By knowing the condition, then proper and correct treatment can be given. In this research, a machine learning algorithm called SVM is used to make a model from an aquaculture dataset. Another processing technique like data normalization and the usage of optimization algorithm named grid search is also performed to improve the modelling result. Furthermore, a test scheme with using k-fold cross-validation is performed to know the performance of the model which is measured by the value of accuracy, precision, recall, f-measure, and AUROC. Then, the SVM model is compared with several models which are made by using another machine learning algorithm such as KNN, CNB, RF, MLP, and LR in order to know the best model to be implemented on cultivation process. From the experiment results, the model which is made with SVM and grid search optimization has the best performance in the validation process with the performance score of 3.54383.

Abstract

In telecommunications equipment, an oscillator has a function to generate a carrier signal. As the carrier signal, a high stability performance is required. The frequency shift caused by component tolerances. In this research, a Monte-Carlo method was used to analyze a component tolerance on the performance of the oscillator at a frequency 2.3 GHz. A simulation was performed by software Advance Design System (ADS). In this research, the iterations were carried out as many as 212 times with tolerance component values by 10%. The analyzed performance consists of a fundamental frequency shift, a phase noise, the value of power fundamental, and a harmonic power. Meanwhile, the oscillator has a structure of bias BJT common base-bias BFR183 with Vcc = 20 V, Vce = 8.2 V and Ic = 15 mA and a dielectric resonator as a resonator. The oscillator has a fundamental frequency 2.3 GHz, phase noise -135.6 dBc / Hz, power fundamental 10.8 dBm, and harmonic power -11.2 dBm. The simulation results showed that the oscillator has a good performance with a high degree of stability on a fundamental frequency by 73%, stability phase noise 100%, stability power fundamental 64%, and stability harmonic power 61%. This simulation has a confidence level of 95.4%, an error ± 3%, and the estimation accuracy 95%.

Abstract

Human nail disease is usually ignored since it does not reveal clinical signs that are harmful to one's health. Nail disease, on the other hand, can be an early sign of a health issue. Some types of nail disease can cause infection, injury, or even the loss of the nail itself. It can reduce a person's aesthetics and beauty. Nail disease is very varied, so it is often difficult for clinicians to diagnose because several types have high similarities. Therefore, an automatic nail disease classification method based on nail photos was proposed in this study. The proposed method was based on the VGG-16 neural network architecture with an Adam optimizer. Nail diseases including Koilonychia, Beaus Lines, Leukonychia have been classified in this study. The model in this study is simulated in Python programming. The simulation results show that the highest classification accuracy is 96%, achieved with epoch-10. The transfer learning method based on a neural network simulated in this study is expected to support the clinical diagnosis of nail disease.

Abstract

The inability of the coal mill control structure to monitor and control pulverized coal flow causes operational and environmental problems. The research was done to design the new control structure for coal mill in coal firing system to achieve an improvement on control system performance compared to the existing control structure. Cascade control, blend station, and feedback control was used to control the flow of coal, the flow of primary air, and temperature of the pulverized coal. The result of the evaluation shows that the new control structure capable of fulfilling all the control objectives applied to it. Implementation of the new control structure capable to make the step response of the coal mill to have an average settling time at 161.75 seconds with 0% overshoot. The new control structure also capable to make the pulverized coal fineness at the range of 70% to 75% and moisture content at the range of 2.18% to 2.28%. The result of the evaluation makes the control performance of the new control structure is better than the previous coal mill control structure.

Abstract

The increasing number of customers and the need for reliable communication require the availability of coverage, sufficient capacity and good quality of mobile communications networks. New BTS implementation is required to cover a wider area with good network quality. However, it often requires high cost and long time to get permission from the government and local residents. Swap and Modernization Project is a project that swap the previous 3G equipment using BTS 3900 Huawei with Ericsson RBS 6000 and modernize the 2G RBS 2000 to RBS 6000 and then carry out parameter settings to optimize the network. In this paper, we report the results of mobile network performance after Swap and Modernization projects had been done in terms of the signal strength improvements, which are showed by Rx Level, RSCP and CDD Dump parameters. The study was conducted in PT XL Axiata Northern Areas of Central Java with D5 cluster as a sample. The results show improvement of Rx Level that increased by 89.93 %, and RSCP value increased by 58.36 %. The swap and modernization of the BTS and parameter settings are able to improve CDD Dump parameters. These improvements are able to expand the coverage area of cluster D5 sites.

Abstract

Replay and eavesdropping attacks threaten the information security that is held by smart healthcare devices. An authenticated key exchange method to provide cryptography sessions is the best way to provide information security and secure authentication. However, smart healthcare devices do not have sufficient computation to perform heavy cryptography processes due to the limitations of the embedded devices used. We propose an authenticated key exchange protocol based on a physical unclonable function (PUF). The proposed protocol aimed to countermeasure from replay and eavesdropping attacks. We designed our protocol with one handshake process and three authentication processes. We evaluated our proposed protocol using Tamarin Prover. From the results of the evaluation, our proposed protocol can exchange properties correctly between communication actors and is valid in proving each lemma in eavesdropping and replay attacks.

Abstract

The two-wheeled balancing robot is a robot that will maintain its balance to stay upright by using two wheels. This robot cannot be stable when the condition is upright and requires a control mechanism when moving. There are at least two control mechanisms in this robot, first is balance control, and the second is position control. The cascade PID method is proposed as a control mechanism, which consists of balance control as primary control and position control (distance and direction) as a secondary control. This method has been applied to robots. Based on the first, second, and third experiment, the best configuration of cascade PID control is PID for the balance control block, PD for distance control, and PD for direction control. By using cascade PID control, the two-wheeled balancing robot has been able to balance itself with oscillations ranging from ± 15.00 degrees when moving and it can move towards the ordered position with the error position from the target. Fourth experiment position error is (0.17, -0.26) and (0.45, -0.43) for the fifth experiment.

Abstract

The Central Statistics Agency reports that the average development of palm cooking oil consumption at the household level in Indonesia during the 2015-2020 period has increased by 2.32% per year. The use of cooking oil repeatedly is commonplace among the people of Indonesia and quite a lot. Even though the use of cooking oil can endanger health because the frying process at high temperatures can damage the chemical structure of the oil. Therefore, in this study, image processing was carried out to identify the quality of palm oil using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. This research was conducted through several stages, namely dataset collection, dataset preprocessing, CNN algorithm implementation, testing, and development of information systems. The dataset consists of image data of palm cooking oil that has not been used, palm cooking oil used for frying twice, and palm cooking oil used for frying more than twice. The total amount of data is 3000 image data. Distribution of training data and test data using the Pareto division of 80:20. Based on the test, the best accuracy is 97.08%. This research produces an android-based information system that can identify the quality of cooking oil based on the classification.
