Abstract

Abstract. The objective of the present study was to analyze the budgetary trends and the effectiveness of fisheries subsidies in Aceh Besar district. The literature and survey methods were utilized in this study. The secondary data of Aceh Besar’s budget documents in the period of 2010-2012 and key person interviews with fishermen leaders were conducted to analysis the subsidy trend and fishermen perception. The data was collected in May through July 2012. The results showed the budget allocation to the fisheries sector were increased from year to year, in 2010 the total budget for the fisheries sector was Rp1, 9 billions (equivalent to 0.34% of total buget or 1.40% of the development budget allocation/indirect consumption), in it was increased to Rp2, 9 billion in 2011 (or 0.42% of total budget or 1.47% of the development budget allocation), then increased sharply in 2012 to Rp9, 2 billion (an increase of over 630%) from the previous year, equivalent to 1.11% of the total budget. In 2010, the proportion of subsidies were given mostly for aquaculture sub-sector, which reached 84% of the total budget that was managed by the Department of Marine and Fisheries of Aceh Besar, whereas in 2011 the proportion of subsidies occurred balance between aquaculture and capture fishery sub sectors. However, in 2012 most of the budget DKP Aceh Besar (63%) was allocated to the capture fishery sub-sector. The results of the study showed that fisheries subsidies by the Government of Aceh Besar district especially in the last two years have not yet met the criteria of sustainable fisheries subsidies. Abstract

Abstract. The objective of the present study was to evaluate mouth character and tooth structure variations of Bagridae. The sampling was conducted on February to July 2012 at Serayu River Banyumas, the sampling was done four times with two week intervals using casting nets and gill nets. A total of three species Bagridae, namely Mystus gulio, Mystus nigriceps and Hemibagrus nemurus were recorded during the study. The results showed that there were no variation on mouth and dental structure among species. Thus, theese characters could not be used to discriminate species among these species.Keywords. Abstract

Abstract. A study of analysis of ENSO impact on streamflow of Cisangkuy watershed West Java using Rainfall-Runoff model was done. The study was analyzed by using GR4J model. Daily rainfall and potential evaporation are model initial data. The model was tested for 2 years running by applying least square error method provided by spreadsheet application to reduce the initial value problem. The model showed a good result with Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency of 70.0. The model was then simulated for 5 years. Monthly streamflow which is model output was then analyzed. The ENSO impact was done by identifying SOI to the variability of rainfall and streamflow. The model result showed that during La-Niña year in 2000, streamflow decreased below normal. The situation remain question that need to be further investigated. During normal year from 2001 to 2004, streamflow was normal. However, during El-Niño year, the decreasing rainfall also have an effect on the decreasing of streamflow in Cisangkuy watershed. The result also showed that the correlation between climate anomaly Nino 3.4 and variability of rainfall and streamflow is significant with correlation coefficient of -0.69 and -0.30, respectively. The regression model was governed and was then utilized to predict the risk analysis in Cisangkuy watershed by using stochastic spreadsheet under Crystal Ball application.

Abstract

Abstract. Probiotics bacteria are beneficial microbes to improve microbial balance in the digestive tract. The objective of the research was to isolate and characterize of potential probiotic bacteria in mackerel fish (Rastrelliger sp.). The research was done from April to August 2012 at Laboratory of Microbiology Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. Isolation and characterization used dilution and scratches quadrant methods. The result showed that there were five potential isolates of probiotic bacteria varied morphological colony and cell. The isolate have circular form (100%), entire margin (80%), flat (60%), cream color (40%), gram positive bacteria (80%), coccus shape (100%) and non motile (60%).Keywords: Probiotics, Rastrelliger sp., isolation, digestive and characterization

Abstract

Abstract. The objective of the present study was to determine the condition of the mangrove ecosystem and how to the influence of physic-chemical environment parameters on community structure of mangrove vegetation in Kaitehu Tibar and Ulmera in Bazartete coastal areas District of Liquisa, Timor-Leste. The parameters observed include the condition of mangrove vegetation, soil substrates, plankton abundance and Nutrient Elements in the area. The results showed that, the Sonneratia alba species is the most dominating in Bazartete area, compared with Rhizophora and Brugueira cylindric species, ie 967 threes /ha, 967 threes /ha, and 1333 threes /ha, The results of laboratory analysis quality of physical-chemical conditions of the environment shows that, there are significant differences in soil nutrient substrate in the 3 observation areas. such as follows: Substrate ground, the average content of C-organic were 0.67%, 2.47% and 0.21%, K = 1.17 Me/100g, 1.20 Me/100g , and 1.14 Me/100g; Ca = 32.39 Me/100g, Me/100g 25.83, and 27.09 Me/100g; Me/100g Mg = 11.46, 9.81 and 9.78 Me Me/100g / 100g; Me/100 g Na = 8.47, 8.26 and 9.78 Me/100g Me/100g. The cation concentration at each observation areas is : K = 0.023 mg / l, 0.023 mg / l and 0.046. Ca = 0.05 mg / l, 0.04 mg / l and 0.04 mg / l. Mg= 0.02 mg / l, 0.03 mg / l, 0.026 mg / l, and Na = 0.03 mg / l, 0.03 mg/l and 0.02 mg/l.Keywords. Mangrove ecosystems, mangrove environment habitats, organic matter, Calsium and Magnesium

Abstract

Abstract. On March 2012, the Coastal area of Kabupaten Sukabumi, West Java, was affected by tidal flooding. This tidal flooding occured because of the supermoon phenomenon that combine with heavy rains. The potential of tidal flood disaster in Kabupaten Sukabumi coastal area requires an immediate action in order to manage the disaster. The first step to mitigate the disaster is by mapping the area that potentially affected by tidal flood. The objective of this research is to modelling the tidal flood area in coastal of Kabupaten Sukabumi. The result of this research shows that the area that potentially affected by tidal flood without supermoon phenomenon is covering 29% of the coastal area of Kabupaten Sukabumi and it is increasing to 37% when supermoon phenomenon occured.

Abstract

Abstract. Numerical hydrodynamics model MOHID based on General Ocean Turbulence Model formula was used to study the tidal current in Makassar waters. The data used in this model are tidal elevation and bathymetry data from GEBCO. The tidal current simulation was conducted for 30 days. Model simulation results show that the tidal current velocity ranged between 0,001 m/s – 0,012 m/s. The current velocity during neap tide is smaller than the velocity during spring tide. The pattern of tidal current in Makassar waters is dominantly flows towards westward and then turned heading northward direction. The simulation result of tide-induced residual current in verification point shows that the flows is ebb-dominant at a rate of 0,005 m/s heading westward direction.

Abstract

Abstract. This research was conducted on the east coast of Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan on October  to November 2011 using survey methods and literatures review. Primary data obtained by direct observation at research location and performing direct interview with various parties; like fishermen, ship owner, TPI officials and other stakeholders in Kotabaru. The result of direct interview obtained that fishing gear to Tembang Fish (including Lemuru) are lift net and mini purse seine. Based on Standardization Efforts formula the most effective fishing gear for catching Lemuru in Kotabaru District is Purse Seine. Socialization needed to fishers that the recommended tool for catching lemuru in Kotabaru District is the purse seine with fishing fleet size 3 GT – 10 GT.Keywords: fishing gear, lemuru fish, Kotabaru, purse seine
