Abstract

Expressing opinions is one of the activities in kindergarten to develop children's basic abilities. The aim of this research is to find out whether storytelling in learning can improve the ability to express opinions of children in group A of the Swan National School Kindergarten. This activity uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which is divided into 2 cycles with each cycle lasting 5 days. In improving the learning, 17 students in group A of the Swan National School Kindergarten were observed, they were motivated to be able to express their opinions through storytelling activities. The results obtained from all 17 Swan National School Kindergarten group A students in cycle I showed that there were 7 children who achieved very good development, and 6 children developed according to expectations. In the second cycle, improvement results were obtained, namely 11 children developed very well and 4 children developed as expected. Based on the data obtained, there was an increase in the ability to express opinions in group A of the Swan National School Kindergarten, namely from 76.5% in cycle I to 86% in cycle II, so it can be concluded that through storytelling activities it was quite successful in increasing children's ability to express opinions. Therefore, this research was carried out in only two cycles, in order to maximize storytelling activities, so that the ability to express opinions can achieve satisfactory results. Apart from that, it is hoped that teachers will be more creative in finding fun teaching methods and in the end learning objectives can be achieved.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ writing performance and learning outcomes in Indonesian class VIII. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted over two cycles with 32 students as participants. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected using student learning outcome tests and analyzed through descriptive quantitative statistical techniques. The findings revealed a progressive improvement in students’ performance: the average score increased from 77 in the first cycle to 82 in the second cycle. Observations indicated that PBL enhanced students’ engagement, collaboration, and ability to apply knowledge to solve problems. Moreover, students demonstrated improved critical thinking and creativity in writing fantasy stories. The results suggest that the PBL model effectively fosters active learning, promotes higher-order thinking skills, and enhances student learning outcomes in Indonesian language education. Implementing PBL encourages collaborative problem-solving, the integration of knowledge and skills, and the application of learning to authentic tasks. These findings provide practical implications for educators seeking to improve student achievement and engagement through innovative instructional strategies.

Abstract

The aimed of this study were: 1) to determine the significant difference between the effect of project-based learning and direct learning model on students’ result of learning in cognitive domain, and 2) to find out the significant difference between the effect of project-based learning and direct learning model on students’ creative thinking ability before and after learning. Population of the study included all students of class VII at SMP Negeri 02 Rumbia.  who enrolled in second semester of 2020/2021 academic year. Samples of the study were class VII.2 consisting of 25 students, as a control class, and class VII.5 consisting of 23 students as an eVIIperimental group. The result showed that: 1) there was a significant difference between the project-based learning model and the direct learning model in their effect on students’ results of learning in cognitive domain; and 2) there was a significant difference between the project-based learning model and the direct learning model in their effect on students’ creative thinking ability before and after learning. Thereby, project based learning had significant effect on students’ result of learning in cognitive domain and creative thinking ability before and after learning of temperature and calorie.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed to improve first-year students’ reading ability through the application of a speed reading technique at SMKN 1 Watunohu during the 2014/2015 academic year. The participants of this study were 26 first-grade students. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data were collected using observation checklists to examine students’ engagement during the learning process and multiple-choice tests to measure students’ reading achievement. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to evaluate improvements in students’ speed reading performance across the cycles. The findings revealed that in Cycle I, students’ reading ability did not meet the minimum achievement criteria, indicating that the implementation of the technique had not yet been effective. However, significant improvement was observed in Cycle II, where students demonstrated better reading speed and comprehension, and the minimum achievement standard was successfully achieved. These results indicate that the speed reading technique can effectively enhance students’ reading ability when systematically implemented through reflective instructional cycles. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed to improve first-year students’ reading ability through the application of a speed reading technique at SMKN 1 Watunohu during the 2014/2015 academic year. Abstract

Misconceptions in physics learning, particularly in dynamic electricity, often hinder students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities. This study aimed (1) to develop a valid and reliable three-tier diagnostic test and (2) to identify junior high school students’ misconceptions regarding dynamic electricity concepts. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach adapted from the Borg and Gall model and modified according to Treagust’s diagnostic test development framework. The development process involved content determination, information gathering, test construction, expert validation, and field testing. The instrument consisted of three-tier multiple-choice items comprising answer selection, reasoning, and confidence level. Item validity was analyzed using the point-biserial correlation coefficient, while reliability was calculated using the Kuder–Richardson Formula 20 (KR-20). The finalized instrument included 21 valid items with a reliability coefficient of 0.75, indicating good reliability. The diagnostic test was administered to 189 students from five classes at a public senior high school. The findings revealed that 49.4% of students experienced misconceptions, 36.6% understood the concepts, 6.9% had weak conceptual understanding, 5.6% did not understand the concepts, and 1.1% answered correctly by guessing. These results indicate that misconceptions in dynamic electricity remain prevalent and highlight the importance of diagnostic assessment as a basis for remedial instruction.

Abstract

The problem taken in this research is that students' ability to recognize and differentiate syllables is still low, so it needs to be improved using more effective strategic methods to stimulate students' enthusiasm and ability to recognize syllables. If we look at the learning method, it is felt that the Maharaja method is more appropriate to be applied in the activity of recognizing syllables in group B at Bhinneka Kindergarten because the children do not feel burdened with learning and do not separate their play activities. This type of research is classroom action research. Analysis of the research results shows that there was an increase in students' abilities in cycle 1, children's completion reached 58.3% and there was an increase in cycle II, increasing to 91.6% and only 1 student out of 12 students had not yet completed it. The use of the Maharaja method in this classroom action research based on student learning results was concluded to improve the ability to recognize syllables for Bhinneka Kindergarten students in Semarang.
